Favorite 3.5" Tube?
I don't think it really matters what brand you get. A tube has no inherent action. Any "action" is dependent upon the rigging method and the movement imparted by the angler. A T-rigged tube falls differently than a tube rigged with an internal jighead. A T-rigged tube, with internal weighting falls somewhere between those two methods. I tend to use an Owner Rig-n hook, 3/0, with HP internal weights, most of the time. The Rig-n hook has a nice wide gap, but is short enough for all but the shortest tubes. Sticky sharp, too. I jusr sorted out my tube bag, and I think I have more Zoom tubes than any other brand. They're cheap and effective. Also have Strike King, Berkley, Mizmo, Yum, and some others I don't recognize. BPS has a kit, in a 3600 size box, that goes on sale every year. I think they are Strike King tubes. They are wider for their length than most, and appear to be about 50%salt/50% plastic. I've bought several of those kits over the years, and done well with them. Very cost effective.

ONE OF MY LITTLE SECRETS ABOUT cAVITRON bUZZbAITS.
There is a top notch tip. I've caught more bass on a 1/8oz buzzbait than on any other size. A lot more.

Recommendations For Fluorocarbon
I'm trying flouro out again this year. Put some #10 Trilene 100% on two baitcasters, and #6 on one spinning reel. I'm trying to approach this with an open mind. We'll see what happens. I'm also giving Sufix Elite another shot for my three moving bait rods. Put #10 on my crankbait rig and deep crankin rig. Put #12 on my spinnerbait / jerkbait rig. And finally, after several years of listening to RW extol it's virtues, I've spooled up two baitcasters with YoZuri Hybrid Ulta Soft. I've been using the San Diego Jam knot for all baits with treble hooks. That will be the knot I use for flouro. It's basically the same knot as the 16/20. with one more step. In my hands, the jam knot works better. By that I mean I tie the jam knot better. Find which knot works best for you, and use it. Any knot will work with flouro if you take to time to tighten it properly. When using flouro, the line MUST be lubed very well and the knot tightened S-L-O-W-L-Y. MegaStrike makes a better knot lubricant than spit.

When bass are hitting bugs what do you use?
An unweighted Super Fluke, rigged with the nose bent up, so that it will jump to the surface when twitched, can be deadly when the bass are on the bugs. I believe it looks like a smaller fish eating the bugs, so the bass get right after it.

Drop Shot baits?
Thanks for all the tips gents. Raul, your comment about using larger baits is duly noted. I'll be sure to give this a shot. Also, those baits I listed may be itsy, bitsy, teeny weenie, but they don't have yellow polka dots. ;D ;D ;D
- Speed clips .!?

florocarbon
I use el cheapo backing line on all of my reels. I then put on about 75 yards of whatever good line I'm using. When spooling up 20+ reels, three or four times every year; the savings add up.

Drop Shot baits?
OK, I've decided to give this another shot. I spent a good portion of 2008 working on the drop-shot, with very poor results. Dinks, dinks, and more dinks. Did not toss a drop shot at all in 09. Got a new rod, made just for the technique. A Daiwa Cielo, 6'10" ML XXXF drop-shot spinning rod; the one with the titanium tip. Went out to the garage and dug out a Daiwa Capricorn reel, cleaned it and lubed it, spooled it up with #6 100% Flouro, and I'm ready to go. I also have a St Croix 6'9" ML Legend Tournament rod with a Revo STX. This is marketed as a drop shot rod. Been using it mostly for tubes and flukes. I located the small Plano box of terminal tackle I put together. I has this stuff in it, still in good condition. Standout Drop Shot hooks in two sizes Owner Mosquito hooks in two sizes Gammy and Mustad circle hooks in several sizes a few clip on dropshot weights Splitshot in many sizes bell sinkers from 1/16oz up Baits I used in the past for this technique have been: GYCB Shad Shaped Worms Small tubes 4" Power Worms Flukes Any suggestions for additional baits for this technique?

To net or not to net? This is the newbie's question.
If there are treble hooks involved, I will always use a net. Nothing worse than having two hooks in a fat 4 pounder and two hooks in your thumb. Don't ask me how I know that. :'(

Worm Burn?
John, I would say that you have a finish problem, were it not for the spool. That is not a finish problem. Something on the outside ends of the PH scale got on there.

You're Invited to the 5th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Is anybody planning to be there Saturday? I'm planning the next installment of the Saturday Night Wine & Cheese Soiree. We had a good time last year, and this year will be just as good, although with a few less people. And, if not many folks will be there Saturday, we'll just do it again Sunday. Not that there's a lot to plan. I would just like a ballpark idea of how many people will be there. I ran out of wine last year, but brought too much food. I'd like to do better this year. Mary has said,"we won't be running out of wine this time", and has stockpiled quite a selection. None of it came in a box. ;D ;D ;D I hope everybody shows up. We'll bring wine, cheese, fruit, meats, and some sort of crackers, chips or bread. Don't like any of that? Bring what you do like. Don't care for wine? Bring what you like; nobody will be offended. If you bring some fine, old single malt or some top shelf cognac, I may be tempted to "borrow" some. Looking forward to seeing everybody again. I'm disappointed that some friends from last year won't be there this time, but I understand. See ya there. Cheers, GK

Census forms
By the way, on the last census form I answered several questions with N.O.Y.B. None of your business.

Census forms
What really bothers me is the fact that they mailed every household a letter informing all of us the the census form was on the way. How many households are there in the US? 100 million? What did that cost; postage, printing, envelopes, envelope stuffing, etc? Had to be a couple of hundred million just to send out a form saying a form is being sent out. I say we should find out who's idea that was, and petition to get that dumb-*** fired.

Amen, brother.

Worm Burn?
That's not worm burn. Neither is it the idea that Quantums suck. That is acid or caustic damage. How the hell is that Quantum's fault.

Fat Ikas for large mouth?
Palm trees and Fat Ikas are the same bait, from the same factory. Just a different package, and some different colors. For colors, the same you would normally use. Something natural for clear water, something bright or very dark for off colored water.
