Spinner bait swimming wierd
Never seen that. I'm going to guess you have cause and effect reversed, and the blades being stuck are causing the wobble. Try soaking the swivel(s) on the blades with silicone spray to free them up, and try it again. Again, without seeing it, I'm just guessing. Cheers, GK

Anybody try these baits?
Check this out. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=98300&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults I started using these last year, and found these to be very good baits for larger fish. I also had quite a few them torn up by smaller fish who grabbed the tail and swam off. the fish i hooked and landed were all pretty good ones. Give "em a try. Also these things. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=98864&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults I've only had one of these in the water once for about 15 minutes. No fish then, but it looks like it would be good. CHeers, GK

GYCB Swimming Senko
The Swim Senko has been a great bait for me, both weighted and weightless. I use a regular bullet weight pegged with a bobber stopper. It works very well just casting it out, counting it down, and swimming slowly back. It also works very well fished like a T-rigged worm, bouncing it off the bottom. My secret, go to, rig is glueing a Swim Senko on an Evolution Shakey jighead. The one with the post, keel, and no weedguard. I superglue the bait on the post, and just swim it. That jighead, with the keel on the bottom, gives an extra dimension of action to the bait. Deadly! This also works nicely bounced on the bottom. One thing I really like about it is it's tougher than the regular Senko. Lathered up with MegaStike so it can slide easily in the fish's mouth, you can catch 4 or more fish with one bait. Make sure you lather up the weight or jighead too. It makes it slide through the weeds that much better. Cheers, GK

Yum Money Minnow?
I jumped on this bandwagon with all four feet. I bought Money Minnows, Shadalicious, and Berkley's Hollow Belly's, and a bunch of the seriously over-priced weighted hooks to go with them. I bought several colors in every size. Probably spent 200 bucks. They're about to all get tossed into the "what the ^%$# was I thinking" pile. I have yet to catch a fish on one. I've had one bite, and didn't hook that one. I've been fishing them side by side with Swim Senkos, and I've caught a bunch of fish on the Swim Senkos. I know which I'll be buying in the future. This has to be the only case where GYCB baits are cheaper than the competition. Cheers, GK

line conditioners?
Interesting. Guess I've been doing it wrong using a paper towel. I'll add that this is great stuff. I know that I'll never be without it from now on. Thanks Rob for the free samples, and the presentation, at Guntersville. You have a very satisfied customer here. Cheers, GK

reverse clinch knot?
They are very close. the only difference is passing the line through the bottom loop. That's the part I'm really clumsy at. I always seem to have my hands or fingers in the wrong place. The reverse clinch is easier for me to tie because it leaves out that step. But, the SDJ turned out to be stronger during my very informal testing. Don't have a clue about braid MillerTime. You'll have to give it a shot, and let us all know what you think. Cheers, GK

Quantum Casting Reel Noise

Interesting
Whatever it is, we know that if it's GYCB, Roadwarrior is gonna have some, and he's gonna have "em rigged backwards. ;D ;D

reverse clinch knot?
Gannoli, look at step 3 of the link you sent. Then look at the video i posted a link to. They are not the same knot.

reverse clinch knot?
Well, I tried it out last night. Just an informal test. I used it with 8lb test, so I could break it easily, and compared it to the San Diego jam knot. I tied and broke each one three times. The SDJ knot is better, hands down. At least for me. I still use a Palomar for everything except cranks. I'll continue to use the SDJ knot for cranks. Cheers,

Cumara rod ?
Hey islandbass, your reply is timely. I was out last night, and was throwing a 1/2oz Evo jig with a Kreature trailer on the rod. It was a good match. I'm going to try that out for a few outings before I go back to BPS. I'll swap reels, go up one line size, and try it a few times. As far as the not so extra fast action goes, I compared it to couple of different rods by tying off to my Fats bag ( it weighs about 182 pounds) and flexing the rods to see where they bent. The closest match was my Setyr 6'10" heavy power telescopic rod, that has a moderate-fast action. The bend under the same load was almost identical. I had one in each hand, doing a side by side comparison. When I compared the Cumara to the Avid 6'8" MXF, they were totally different. Hey Burley, (or whatever your name is today ;D), is the CUC68M the model you have? I seem to remember that you were a bit underwhelmed by this rod. Or, do I have you confused with somebody else. I know somebody said they wanted to love the rod, but could not. Cheers, GK

Anyone still use trilene XL?
I've spent the last three years trying out different lines, and at one point, had 7 different lines on a dozen rods used for different applications. I keep going back to XL, because it's the easiest handling line out there. So, this year I bought 3000 yard spools of XL in 10 and 12, 1000 yards spools of 6, 8 and 14, and use it for everything. My two crankbait rods still have Sufix Elite spooled up, but when it's time to re-spool, those will being getting XL as well. I've finally decided that having all those diferent lines, for all different applications, was just a bit over the top. I've been simplifying my tackle selection, so I've simplified my line selection as well. It ain't broke, and I've finally stopped trying to fix it. Cheers, GK

Cumara rod ?
Well, the $200 worth of BPS gift cards I had finally burned a hole in my pocket, and I got a Cumara 6'8" MXF rod. I had been trying to decide between that rod and the St Croix LT, with the same length and specs. BPS made my choice for me by not have the St Croix in stock. I've fished this thing about a dozen times now, with different reels. It's supposed to 6'8", and it is. It's supposed to be very light and sensitive, and it is indeed. It's supposed to be medium power and extra fast action, and it definitely is NOT. The largest fish I've caught on this rod so far was a 2 1/2 pounder, and it barely put a bend in the rod. It's rated for 8-14lb line, and will pop 12lb test line like it's 4. I'ts rated for 1/4 - 1/2oz lures, and a 1/4oz lure will not come close to loading the rod during the cast. Both a 5" Senko and a Fat Ika will barely load the rod for casting. It takes a 10" power worm, 6/0 hook and a 5/8oz weight to load this rod for efficient casting. This thing has a stiffer tip and as much, if not more, backbone than any of the medium-heavy power rods I have. In fact, the rod I own which matches the Cumara most closely in power and action is a 6'10" heavy power, moderate-fact action Setyr telescopic pitchin stick. I know that's comparing apples to oranges. You really can't compare rod ratings from one company to another. Having admitted that, I have an Avid 6"8" MXF, and the Cumara is no match for it at all. So, what I wanted, and thought I was getting, was a medium power, extra fast action rod; something I could use for tubes, Super Flukes, and light weight T-rigs. What I got, at least to my hands, is a heavy power, not so fast action rod, that I really have no use for. Did I get one that was mis-labeled? Or are all the Cumara series rods like this? I wish I had waited for the St Croix. Cheers, GK

reverse clinch knot?
Has anybody used this knot? It's almost identical to the San Deigo jam knot.

falcon tackle storage question
The Falcon spinnerbait and terminal tackle boxes are the best thing since sliced bread. I had them since I first saw them, and they're holding up nicely. Everything stays right where you put it. I also have one of the spinnerbait/buzzbait boxes. Only had it for this year, but I'm betting it will hold up to my abuse as well as the others. The jig box is a different story. I got one of those, loaded it full of jigs, and when I pulled it out of the bag none of the jigs were in their slots. Every one had come loose and the whole thing was a mess. I have to add that the box was full of small jigs. 1/8oz, 3/16oz and 1/4oz are about all I use. Maybe the box would work better with larger jigs.

How often do you use a spinnerbait trailer?
I almost always use a trailer, but never use a trailer hook. For trailers, a Fluke is the first choice. Half a Power Worm works nicely.

Thinking about some ceramic bearings...
Natural, I believe that the two spool bearings are the only ones that spin fast enough to justify the upgrade. Unless, of course, you can crank the handle at 30,00 RPM. I may be wrong about this. Cheers, GK

ultralight baitcasters
Hey Brian. my go to finesse stick is a BPS Pro finesse rod. 6'9" medium light baitcast rod. Sells for $100, but goes on sale every year for 80. I have a Johnny Morris Signature series reel on it, loaded with 10lb test XL. Got the reel for 120 and the rod for 80. A $200 combo that is the one I pick up when most would choose a spinning rod. Not to most expensive setup, but it does the job for me. Cheers, GK

What to do in Branson, MO.???
Check out Lilley's Landing. http://www.lilleyslanding.com/marina.html You can rent a boat for all or part of a day at downright cheap prices, and sample the trout fishing on the Taneycomo. You may want to call ahead to reserve a boat for the days you want. Also, check out the Candlestick Inn for the best dining in Branson. A little pricey, but well worth it for a special night out with your sweetie. When you visit the Landing, look across the river and up the bluff. You'll spot it. It doesn't look like much from that view, but I promise you the food, service, ambience and view are unforgettable. Cheers, GK
