  1. The water has been high due to pumping for a few months now. I don't think they have had any issue getting into the flats for some time.
  2. That's looking good Gar-tracker. 34 pounds won at Lake O yesterday. That should answer any questions about the fishing conditions!
  3. I've been hearing good things. I'll be up there tomorrow too. If I get there in time I'll do the bass busters. I'll let you all know how it goes.
  4. Water is still fairly high. Some areas that matters, others it makes no difference.
  5. I will join in if at all possible. I'll know when you get the date set (the sooner the better). If your wanting to do snakeheads, I would talk with Captain Shane. He is our resident snakehead pro. He is also a great guy who I know would help if he can. Maybe you can throw in a big bass contest as well. You would not need any special permits to keep one bass of any size (over 12" I believe). Like many, cancer has touched my family as well. My cousin, at 5 years old, was not as lucky as your friends mother. I would be willing to help out any way I can. I think this is a worthy cause, keep us up to date.
  6. I fished there last week for a few hours. Caught 3 fish that weighed a total of over 11 pounds. A few days before that I fished there as well. Caught about 15 fish between 1 and 2.5 pounds. They are biting well out there, and you can have a good day. If your looking for numbers I would say to crank the ledges. If your looking for size, a slower presentation may be needed.
  7. What was winning bag for KOTG?
  8. Fathers day weekend.. what a shame.
  9. I believe that Welleby has a fence around the lake, at least it did years ago when I lived in Sunrise. Markam is a good place to bank fish. I used to hit the lake in the NE corner near the bike trails/ range entrance. Always did well there. It may be crowded but few will be fishing.
  10. You were back home by 2pm today. That was a huge mistake IMO. The bite has been getting better later in the day/afternoon for the past month or so. Lately I've been sleeping in and arriving at the ramps around 10am. Lots of fish, and especially big fish seem to be biting later these days. I was at the Holeylands yesterday. Bite didn't turn on til 1pm. But after that it was game on. Also, sounds like your going through your whole box when the going gets tough. In this situation, I would revert to the basics. Specifically a Senko. If you can't catch fish on a Senko, then yes, the fish are not biting.
  11. Very good info. I think something just clicked. Thanks for taking the time.
  12. Pictures are sometimes tough to judge weights with. I can tell you bass down here begin to get there distinctive hardened jaw line at around 4lbs. I would guess the weight of your fish to be around 3.5 to 4 pounds based on the look of her jaw. Comparing to the fish from northern states won't help much as their fish are much fatter. It's a great fish regardless!
  13. I understand your pain. Bass down here are notorious for getting lock jaw during cold fronts. Sam offers good advice. The only thing I would add is that when the bite gets real tough, I down size everything. Lighter line, smaller bait, where ever possible.
  14. I agree with gar tracker when it comes to mono. I always use it for topwater and spinners. I'm not a fan of fluoro at all. I cast my worms with braid. If the fish are finnicky I add a fluoro leader. I also use fluoro as my leader on a carolina rig. Other than that, it has no use to me.
  15. Nice catch though I believe your estimates are a bit generous.
  16. I don't need 6 months of fishing to know rage wins in my book
  17. Really far south. really far north, or in the flats. Follow the Hicks brothers they always do well out there. 20+lbs to win/place is the norm. Gotta work so I'll be sitting this one out. Good luck!
  18. Actually if you take the road west several miles to the pump station, and put your canoe in the canal that runs north/south (Miami Canal), you would probably kill em' out there. I fished it years ago from shore driving along with my four wheeler and did great. I think they put a dirt ramp in there a while back, but no one ever takes thier bass boats out there, at least no one I know. I'm sure you won't hear any cars out there.
  19. Good luck man. You may be suprised at what you find when you arrive. Most topos I have seen do not accurately depict the lake or it's features. Be careful approaching the edges around the entire lake. There are stumps everywhere just below the surface, and as of a few weeks ago the water level was around 3ft below normal. I'm curious as to where you saw the info about the big fish and 10 over 10lb days. Hopefully not off the same guide site I saw years back. Swimbaits sound like a good idea.
  20. And unless you are familiar with deep water structure fishing, it may be tough..
  21. Been there a few times. Everything said here is accurate. Well except Bobs Landing is on the East side of the Lake..
  22. Holeylands at the Broward/Palm Beach line off US27. Haven't seen peacocks there in a few years but you can walk the banks all day long. Lots of big bass can be caught from shore.
  23. Those markers are horribly placed coming out of Clewiston.. No it wasn't me.. this time.
