  1. Walker is about 2 hours away, that might be a bit far for me (just due to travel time).
  2. I've seen shad boil at the surface with nothing eating them. That gets frustrating.
  3. I'd be interested in either. Always like catching Northerns. Or any of the southern PA lakes. Date wise I can't do the weekends of the 14/15th or 21/22 of August. Other than that I should be able to go.
  4. Only other spots I have heard about are tiny state park lakes which might not even allow a boat (kayaks are different) Laurel Lake Pond is one. Beyond that is the Susky, I've only fished there once up above HBurg and didn't have much luck. I've heard the area around Cumberland is good though.
  5. Redman/Williams are about 5 minutes away from me:) Both are on the PA Big Bass lake list. They both have metric ton of shad but I've had decent largemouth luck on both when I've kayaked them. Williams had been very low but is now back up to normal or close to normal. Neither is huge, I think Redman is a bit deeper and bigger but not by a ton. Fish wise both have largemouth, striper, tiger musky, walleye, and channel cats. I prefer Williams as it is less busy. I haven't went to Pinchot, but there is also Lake Marburg in Codorus State Park near Hanover. I've heard good things about there as well. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lake+Marburg&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=54.137829,79.013672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lake+Marburg&z=14 Edit: Also on that map of Redman/Williams there are two spots where you really can't fish on both lakes so it makes them a bit smaller than they look. On Redman the area south of Hess Farm gets really really shallow, so much so I was hitting mud with my kayak. And on Williams the area around the bend where it says South George St is off limits.
  6. Yeah depending on time and date I could try to make it. I don't have a boat here but have a kayak! I'm down in York but could travel to Harrisburg area or around there. I've got two young kids so it all depends on them and the wife:)
  7. Grats winners, I hope you like your rods as much as I am enjoying mine.

I think that clear lip is what makes it dive.
  9. Think I might make this my next reel purchase, the price is perfect for me.
  10. I received my rod today and had time to take it out tonight. I got the top water/popper/tube/grub model. DHC5-681CAM 6'8" rod. Medium action, extra fast taper, line rec 8-14 lb, lure wt. 1/4-5/8 oz. My first reaction to the rod is that it is very very light. I got a Gander Mountain rod earlier this year and it feels heavy in comparison. Looks: The rod looks great. Nice split handle, feels great. The color of the rod is blue/black that has seems to change depending on how the light is hitting it. Casting: I put the only baitcaster that was rigged with light line (10lb) on it and took it out to the local lake. This reel is old and not very good, I barely use it due to that and the fact that it doesn't cast very good. Well combined with this rod it was throwing my top water lures a long ways. Very nice. In total I used a Tiny Torpedo, Pop-R, Zara Puppy, and even put a senko on. It handled all with no proplem, and sent the PopR and Zara Puppy flying especially far. The action on the rod is good, I could walk the dog with no problems at all. Unfortunately I didn't run into any fish, had one miss the Tiny Torpedo, so I didn't see how it would handle that way but I have no doubt it would do well. In closing this is by far the best rod I've ever had. Now I just need to save up and get a nice new reel to go with it. Here are some (bad) pictures I quickly took (sorry for quality)....
  11. True on the detail. The hardbait version though does look a bit more like a frog with legs extended than just a tube like the others. Most lures catch me more than they catch fish:)
  12. I'd guess between 11-15 bucks, like most of their other stuff.
  13. They look great. I'm pretty interested in the walking spook/sammy type version. http://www.facebook.com/pages/LIVETARGET-Lures/164445051102#!/photo.php?pid=5717081&id=164445051102

I'll twitch it/pause/twitch/pause/twitch/pause and so on.
  15. Ah this is a good thread, as I was thinking about getting a Sammy (have a few old spooks).
  16. Yeah if they are fishing open water they have a reason, a river bed/rockpile/underwater trees/sandbar/weeds something that tells them that fish are there.
  17. They do a good job of cleaning a tank but I'll never get one again. They do an equally good job of messing up the bottom with junk, they eat and poop and grow. It seems like they do the last two more than the first!
  18. If it was from Ouachita Lake, what he used is linked in this article http://www.another site/news_article.asp?id=3630 A LC Gunfish and a Prop Bee.
  19. Sounds like the LC Gunfish http://www.***.com/Lucky_Craft_Gunfish/descpage-LCGUN95.html
  20. So this year I really got back into fishing and a lot of my tackle is at least 10 years old. Are newer baits "better" than the older ones that I have? Like are LC Sammys better than the Zara Spooks that I have, or newer crankbaits better than the old bandits and rebels that I have? Or would you even replace an older lure with a newer one of the same type? Are they newer lures better (move more, better made, greater hooks) or are they just new? I know its all subjective but I'm really not sure. In a perfect world I'd just buy a whole bunch of new stuff:)
  21. Nice job. I can't wait to check out my rod!
  22. 30 minutes or so, its only 3 roads but a lot turns and such. 216 to 214 to Water Street.
  23. Yeah thats the one. Williams is just across the street from it. Redman flows into Williams. Neither are too busy normally, and both are trolling motors or self propelled so their is never too much commotion out there. Let me know if you hit them up, I have a little knowledge of each, more of Williams though.
  24. They seem decent. Both have largemouth, stripers, tigermusky, channels, crappie, shad, and the normal other panfish.
