  2. Tom, when you mentioned that book, I had to go up and down that list three times before I found it, so don't feel bad. Hootie
  3. How did that one get by me? Hootie
  4. I also have that one. It's on the list. Interestingly, my wife picked this one up at a rummage sale for a quarter. Hootie
  5. My list included Don Iovino's book, Jason Lucas on bass, and Dr.Henshaw's Book of the Black Bass. Hootie
  6. Funny you should say that Jeff. My wife has suggested that I talk to our insurance agent about a rider, just to cover the cave. Hootie
  7. I use U40 cork seal on all my rods. Very tacky when wet. Not sticky,...tacky. Hootie
  8. *Hootie replied to Zach P's topic in Fishing Tackle
I have several brands, but Venom is my favorite. Hootie
  9. The reel that got me into baitcasting was the old red ambassadeur 5000's. You either learned to cast or forget it. Bought that reel in 1969 and still have it. It's in mint condition and I still get it out once a year. Since that reel I've probably tried them all. But I loved those old red reels. Hootie
  10. I have found that on my lake, the fishing pressure only lasts a few weeks. After people get used to the idea that winter is finally over and the crappie fishing slows down, I pretty much have the lake to myself. Hootie
  11. I've been the last two days. Got one fish for my efforts. Usually do much better than that. Oh well, this is one post I don't like...my own. Hootie
  12. Watch it kid.....lol...jk. Hootie
  13. I use fluoro. It tears braid up to bad. I tried braid and it looked like a rag by the end of the day. Hootie
  14. I clicked to like a post and couldn't. It said I had reached my quota of likes for the day. I have never done that, and actually wasn't aware that you could. Anytime I start a topic, I will click like on every response, even if it is contrary to what I posted. I do that to acknowledge that I did read your post. I read every response to every topic that I post. So if you reply to a topic that I started and you don't get a like, it's because I have used them all up. I certainly appreciate all your responses. 15. This is why it's so easy to lose lures on the lake I fish. But I wouldn't trade this lake for any other. Hootie
  16. Doing that with the Jackall cover craw, backwards. Hootie
  17. I catch most of my fish on plastics. Tubes, beavers, ribbon tail worms, chigger craws, structure bugs, etc The remainder are usually caught on jigs and spinnerbaits. Hootie
  18. Have tried them from 3" all the way to 5". Hootie
  19. No, I would never do that. They now have a new home in my buddies tackle bag. Hootie
  20. And that's it. Tubes and beavers, beavers and tubes, Tubes and beavers, beavers and tubes. Hootie
  21. I would agree with you except some of the guys I fish with fish them successfully. It's me man, it's just me. Something wrong with me....dang it!! Hootie
  22. My lake, on it's best day visability is never more than 10 inches. Hootie
  23. I know everybody loves these things, but for the life of me I can't catch anything with them. I have fished them deep, shallow, wacky rigged, Texas rigged, weighted and weightless. I have fished them in cold water, warm water, pre spawn, spawn and post spawn. I have fished them extensively, not just a few casts and move on. I have tried several brands including the number one brand. I give up, they flat don't work for me. I have never so much as gotten a nibble, never mind caught a fish. That's Hootie's rant for the day. Hootie
  24. Do you suppose that they are being phased out? Hootie
