Not at all. I say, get whatever appeals to "you". I had several Lews reels. They were great. Some reason I just morphed into a Shimano "fanboy". But Lews are growing in popularity daily, it seems. I think they are proving themselves in durability. Get the reel "you" want. You'll never be happy with something someone else talked you into purchasing. Hootie

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. My lake isn't muddy. It's just dark green water. I've caught bass from muddy water that were very pale in color. Hootie
