  1. Me and my buddy are thinking about fishing a small toyrnament coming up in our area. The only we proably is we fish out of a 14' jon boat. We don't have a live well and all tournaments require them. Is there anything we can do to get arouund this? I dont mean using a livewell, but i need suggestios on maybe installing a livewell or building one.
  2. Back in october me and my fishing buddy were camping in Land Between the Lakes. We had planned on just doing some bank fishing becase we had good luck there before. No luck. So he drives about 45 minutes to his house to get his jon boat and brings it back to the campsite. We then had to switch hitches because i did not have one on my truck. I then backed his boat into Barkley lake on this beach, dirt (mud) and gravel. the water was down so much I had to back in till the front tires were covered in water. I didnt catch anything worth talking about. He got a small LM and a drum on a minnow fishing for crappie. But we had a good time and learned the layout of the lake a little better
  3. I am not completely sure about this but i believe it is legal in KY. There may be species restrictions though. When i was younger my mom and dad ran a tackle store between KY and Barkley Dam and we sold snaging set ups. A lot of people would use this method for spoonbill and maybe catfish or carp. But i have never seen anyone intentionally snag bass. I'm not sure of actual regulations though

Thanks for the reply. I knew you would be the one to jump on this. I didnt expect it to be a weekend job but was just wondering. I may have to weight till summer or at least spring break to give it a go. That will just give me time to read up and pick out my parts though. Working 50 hours a week and a going to school full time really cuts into fishing. Hopefully i will be able to manage at least one day a week till summer rolls around. Is this the website you were talking about? http://www.rodbuilding.org or is there another one?

I am thinking about attempting to build my first rod. I have never attempted anthing like this before. I think it would be cool to have acustom rod that i made myself. Where are good places to buy parts? What are some good blanks to use? What tools do i need? Where can i find some instructions with pictures, maybe a FAQ? What kind of time frame am i looking at from beginning to end? ( can this be done in a weekend? Im guessing probably not but just checking) I looked on the first couple of pages in the forum and didnt see a FAQ or anything. I hope i didnt miss it. Any help is appreciated and if i do undertake this, there will be numerous other posts to follow. Thanks
  6. Thanks guys this was a great help. I think i will use the effect of non native species. However, my ecology teahcer said she was an avid hunter and angler. She has mentioned bass fishing a few times in class already.
  7. I have an Ecology class this semester and we have to write a research paper about an environmental issue. I was wanting to do something involving fishing. Any ideas. This is a 3-5 page paper and it is for a Sophomore college class. Thanks
