  1. Biffle must have been a good ways into to TN to get a ticket. I haven't fished that part of KY lake before, but i thought there was a "buffer zone" so that you could fish so far into the other state with a license from one state. I am not sure of the size of the "buffer zone" though I do all my fishing around KY dam.
  2. What type of rod would be best suited for vertical jigs, 1 oz+., in deep water (approx. 20 ft or so)? This would be a casting set up, paired with a Calcutta 100.
  3. No, my mistake experience was at the GM in Paducah, KY. The one guy is really the only that ever angered me, there a few others that are much nicer, but I still don't buy a lot of fishing stuff there. GM is the only big sporting goods store in the area but there are two local shops w/in 5 min of GM that have close to the same prices, better service, and about the same selection so I go there
  4. I wouldn't say that a boat doesn't make a difference. Wouldn't it more depend on the pattern the fish are on? If the fish are holding in deep water a shore fisherman (such as myself) may not be able to fish that deep. I know on KY lake in the summer when the "ledge bite" is on I have a heck of a time catching bass during the day (I do have good early morning luck though). However, part of that can be attributed to my inability as an angler.
  5. I know the one in Paducah, KY carries a lot of plastics (I haven't been there in a few months though). They had a ton of ZOOM along with other brands yamamoto, strike king, yum, etc. They had a pretty good selection but I usually bought from the local places because the prices were about the same, and the local service was always much better. I went into GM one day looking for a reel and asked to see a Daiwa reel that was in the display case, and the guy asked me "Do you want to see it or do you want to play with it?" I guess this guy didn't care that I bought two curados, a calcutta, and a few rods from him before. I never made another big purchase there unless I couldn't find it anywhere else.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I think I found a guide for Minnetonka. $400 for 8 hours seems like agood deal. I can't wait.
  7. CJ, your signature line is awesome. I wish I was back home so I could check out the weigh-ins, guess I will have to wait for tv-coverage. I also like Kennedy, he is one of my favorite anglers, but I won't count out KVD.
  8. I have never fished there but the WR smallmouth came out of that lake. I believe that lake is on the KY/TN border, which part are you fishing? You might try asking in one of the regional forums, I know there are some central and eastern KY people ther. I wasn't much help but good luck on your trip

I am an Environmental Health & Safety Intern at a plastics manufacturing facility in MN. When I graduate in December hopefully I will be a Safety Manager (or whatever a company wants to call it) somewhere. I just finished a job driving as forklift in a window factory. (midnights=awful)
  10. I just finished up my sr. year of college (one more semester left). I got out in early may but had to move to MN for an internship and have not got fish nearly as much as I wanted to. Got to back to school 8/20. I was more happy that I was able to quit my job working midnights (10:30pm-7am) than I was that school was out for the summer. After working full time on third shift and going to school full time I almost look forward to only having to work.
  11. If I am going to be using this for multiple lures do you think I would be better off getting a M or MH? Mostly I would be fishing cranks and traps but also the occassional jog or plastic.
  12. I got mine back in fairly quick for a mail-in rebate as well. I bought a Curado 200DHSV, very pleased. Figured this was a good a time as any to complete my Curado collection I have heard that it took some people forever to get theirs back, hope that is all straightened out now.
  13. It's a decent reel, I use to have the 300 series, but I sold it. I wouldn't think the 200 would be any smaller than an Abu 4600. I have two 4600s and think they are a better reel. If you have the money a calcutta 100 is a GREAT reel, and it is smaller than 4600. It is one of my favorite baitcasting reels. My friend that I sold the corvalus too ended up breaking it, but I think it was more his fault than reel failure. If you like the feel of it and think it will meet your needs, it's not bad for the money, IMO.
  14. I am looking for a short 5'6" or 6' baitcasting rod with a regular grip (not a pistol grip) that could be used to fish a variety of different lures. It will be paired with a Daiwa Advantage reel. I would like to stay under $100. I normally use 6'6" rods but I have found I like the shorter rod when casting to tight spaces from the banks. Thanks.
  15. Can anyone recommend a good fishing guide in the Twin cities area? I am up here till August and would love to do some musky or pike fishing. I don't know when the good fishing times are but hopefully I will get the chance to catch a musky before I go back to KY.
  16. What age range are you talking about (or does it matter)? I know Murray State has a bass club, they fish in one of college tours (i think they won it a few years ago). If you are in school you could always try and start one up. I wish I could have been in a bass club when I was in HS or even now that I am in college but between work and school I barely have time fish. Hope you find a club!
  17. I've been away from this site for too long. I am so excited that everyone is coming to KY this year. I am in MN for the summer and am already missing the home lakes (only been gone a few weeks) If I am still around (I graduate college in December, don't know where I will end up afterwords) I will be there. Hopefully I will have a boat by then too. Hope to see everyone in April.
  18. Hey fishingman, do you have the Motorola phone tools program? If so you can use that to transfer from pc to phone and vice versa. That's how I get ringtones, etc on my SLVR.

Is there good bank fishing at the lakes in the area? I am going to be in Coon Rapids from May - August on an internship and hope to do some fishing. Mainly nights and weekends. Sorry to jack the thread
  20. I got my permit about 6 months ago but I never carry. I usually have either my Taurus 24/7 Pro .40 or my new Rock Island Armory 1911 in my truck both loaded with Hornady TAP JHP's.
  21. You might try Shooter Jennings. He's Waylon's son. His first two cds were really good and the third one is okay. I love classic country music, probably my favorite genre. Here in west KY we have a Friday and Saturday night radio show of of just outlaw country, probably the best 6 hours of radio all week.

I've been interviewing for internships since December and finally landed one last week. I'm going to be that much closer to graduating now. Get to spend the summer (may-august) in Minnesota. It's going to be a big change from here in west KY. I hope the fishing is good up there in the summer
  23. Congrats, I've been interviewing since December and just got an internship last week. It can be nerve racking. Good luck on the new job.

I am looking for some speakers to replace the factory ones in my truck (06 Sierra 2dr). I need a set of 6 1/2's (front) and and a set of 4x6's (rear). They will currently be hooked to the factory head unit. My budget is around $200 for front and rear together. Thanks
  25. Hey everyone I fish KY and Barkley too, but I beat the banks. Cant wait to wet a line this spring, I think I'm having withdrawals. Good luck to all this year.
