  1. I know bc is awesome. I bought my first good bc setup a few years ago and haven't looked back. When I am seriously bass fishing my spinning rigs rarely see water. Welcome aboard.
  2. You could try some of the weighted shank hooks for your flukes. That is how I fish flukes, and I have decent luck with them. I don't fish rivers though.
  3. Welcom aboard. That is a nice setup. Calcutta are such sweet reels, and anytime you mix Shimanos and Loomis' the results are always good.
  4. If the handle is like most bc I have seen there is a screw and nut holding it on. Take the screw out then the nut. Don't know about the sideplate.
  5. I have never fished for walleye but I have fished sauger with vertical jigs in deep water. My dad told me that the sauger would strike the jig twice and that I should set the hook on the second strike. I was using a 7' M rod and thought i needed something siffer. If I go sauger fishing again I will get a 7' MH or H rod. I have heard that the G loomis MBR844 is a good walleye jigging rod, as well as a sweet a** bass rod.
  6. I agree. The only time I touch Budweiser is fresh drafts. Never tasted a better beer.
  7. When I started fishing again a few years ago I found some worms in one fo my tackle boxes that are probably as old as I am (22), and they still felt new.
  8. I think one of the issues with using braid that small is that it tends to "dig" into itself on the spool. I have used spiderwire in the past and thought it was okay, but I have switched to either power pro or suffix performance. You may want to go to heavier braid for you bc, like a 50 lb or 65lb, IMO.
  9. I may be wrong but I think the rating on the rod is more of a lb. test rating not a diameter rating. You should be okay if you aren't already having casting issues.
  10. The 200's are wider and taller than the 100's. That probably isn't much help but I don't have the reels with me where I can look at them. I don't have very large hands and the 200's are not at all uncomfortable for me to fish. I have two 200 and a 100.
  11. In my hometown we have a drive-in theatre that shows new movies and the children have always got in free. Recently one of the big studios raised a fuss about this and wanted the owner to start charging for kids tickets. I believe he told them to shove it.
  12. fretfishman - where did you see those Daiwa heartland rods? I have seen them on the Daiwa website but no where else. There is one in that line up that seems like it would really fit my needs. Sorry for the off topic post.
  13. I have fished PP, Suffix, and spiderwire. My favorite is suffix followed by PP. I don't use braid all that often though.
  14. I just saw the announcement that Ryan Newman is leaving Penske at the end of the season. I wonder if he will sign on with Tony?
  15. Your issue could be due to dragging the line across pavement. Also, you could have a knick or defect on one of your guides that is causing the line issue. Also, the issue could be with your knot as opposed to the line itself. On a side note I prefer Suffix braid over the Spiderwire.
  16. I hope they don't mess with any of the beers. There are few drinks I like as much as fresh draft Budweiser. I also like the Amber Bocks and Killian's (I think that is an AB beer). I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing less Bud sponsorships in the future.
  17. Count me in.
  18. The reason you have so much trouble is because you put Daiwa reel on a Shimano rod. j/k The first bc combo I bought was Shimano Corvalus 300 and a 6'6" MH Ugly Stick. The only way I could cast without backlashing was by using heavy (.5 or .75 oz) weights. I got so irritated I stopped using the d*** thing. Eventually I got some money saved up and bought nicer equipment, a Calcutta 100B and a Guide Series Ultimate rod. I could cast various size lures with relative ease with this rig. The most important thing is practice but having good equipment really helps.
  19. If I could only have one of my baitcasting rigs it would be my G Loomis MBR783C IMX and Curado 100D. I can throw almost anything in my tacklebox with this combo. You could probably find this combo for $350 or less. Note: This is a 6'6" rod because I bank fish most of the time and find the shorter rod a little easier to deal with.

  21. I haven't fished either of those reels but I would get the Symetre they feel pretty nice. I do have a stradic 2500 that is a few years old but I love this reel. I hear the new Stradics are amazing and I am looking to pick one up soon.
  22. I have had good luck on the Zoom Ol' Monsters in the past. Zoom makes another large worm but I can't think of the name MAg-11 maybe that I have used in the past.
  23. That sounds like a good deal on the lowrider flippin sticks. I have heard nothing but good things about falcon rods. I think the lowriders are usually around $100 or maybe more. If I needed a flippin stick I would be all over that.

I have used yo-zuri lipless crankbaits in the past and was very pleased. Last summer I was killing them on a green yo-zuri lipless cb, until I lost it.
  25. That would be awesome.
