  1. That's cool, but expensive. $157.50 + shipping for four ribeyes!!
  2. Welcome aboard. That is about the same way I got into bass fishing. I fished when I was younger just hoping to catch anything. THen one summer a friend of mine got me throwing bass lures and I hooked into a 3# LM and have been "hooked" since. THe transition from ugly sticks and cheap reels to loomis's, curados, and calcuttas is a fun but expensive journey.
  3. I would get a Curado if you can find one in your price range. The current D models are being marked down and the new E's will be out soon and won't be much above your price
  4. I have a 42" Vizio LCD. I bought it right after Christmas and have had no complaints. When I was looking every thiing I read said LCD>plasma. I don't have access to a lot of HD content but it sure does make my PS3 look good.
  5. I use 3/0 Gammy EWG on y 5" Senkos as well as on Fat Ikas. Will look into using some 4/0's in the future.
  6. I didn't realize Mikes was in Canada until after I ordered from them. Sorry RM, I didn't know you sold parts as well, I thought you just did servicing. Will look to you in the future.
  7. I have two swimbaits (Matlures ultimate bluegill and baby bass) waiting on me when I get back to KY in a few weeks. I recently bought a Calcutta 300TE to use and will pair it with my 7'6" BPS Bionic Blade flippin stick for the time being. After the first of the year I am going to try to get an actual swimbait rod but the flippin stick will have to do for now.
  8. Thats awesome. Blue heelers are good dogs, my great grandparents had one when I was younger, that was a great dog.
  9. x2. I love my Stradic 2500.
  10. I would like to add that if you order from Mikes Reel Repair be prepared to wait. I placed an order almost two months ago for one of the upgrade wormshaft and idler gears for my 5600WS and still have not seen it, and they have not responded to email. The bearings and drag washers can be purchased from smoothdrag.com or castawaylakes.com as well. Also, if you want a different handle BPS has some replacement handles for $10 that I really like on my 5600.
  11. I think it was 3.78 or so on the way to work this morning, in MN
  12. Hilarious! ;D ;D
  13. I am not familiar with that baitcaster but 12# line is a good choice for any baitcaster, IMO. (except for very large ones)
  14. Dumb move but it didn't seem to matter. A toyo still won the race Saturday night.
  15. I would get one of the citicas that RW mentioned. Also, keep an eye on the flea market for good rod and reel deals. You could buy a new Citica, a new St. Croix Premier 7' MH rod, and still have money left in you budget for other tackle. You could fish a lo of different things with this set up. You could also get a 6'6" rod if you prefer that size.
  16. you would probably be better off spending more on the rod than on the reel. What type of lures are planning on using?
  17. I modified one of my gander mountain rods to a split grip rod. It did not turn out to well (visually speaking). The rod still functions fine but looks awful. I could not get all of the cork off the blank. I don't think it will hurt the rod as long as you are careful and don't knick or damage the blank. I have seen some people do this that looked really nice.
  18. I am so envious of you. I took a guided trip on Minnetonka this past weekend and we didn't even have any follows. Nice fish, BTW.
  19. I plan on using 20# Trilen Big Game
  20. These reels are not that difficult to work on. I am not a very mechanically inclined person and I just took an Abu 5600 aprt and put it back together without much difficulty. Just make sure you have a schematic of the reel before you get started. While you are in there you can add/replace bearings and upgrade the drag as well. If you search on line there are a number of write ups that would be of assistance if you decide to work on your reel.
  21. I throw spinnerbaits on mine. The 783C is my favorite BC rod. I can throw anything in my tacklebox with it.
  22. I agree Honestly that is a bit disturbing. Notice that she has her finger in the trigger group. I'm sure she never checked to see if it was loaded which it very possibly could have been. Then the fire works made her jump which could have caused her to pull the trigger. This whole childish act could have got someone killed. Complete stupidity on both parts. X2. Some people do not know how to handle firearms or act around them.
  23. I also thought it would be for the entire Senko. I misunderstood. I have seen that pciture on here before but never knew what that was on the middle of the lure. Will have to keep that in mind.
  24. You could probably find you a St. Croix Premier 7' MH F, for around a $100, that would be great for light flippingg, pitching, jigs, t-rigs and c-rigs. I don't own this rod but have messed with them in stores and they feel very solid.
  25. I have never heard of that. It seems like it would mess with the action. Hope it works out for you.
