  1. From what I have read you can upgrade bearings, upgrade drag, change gears, change handle, and change the handle knobs among other things.
  2. I lkw the Zoom Fat alberts but I have some Yamamots to try out.
  3. Sounds good.
  4. Return it or send it to mfg. for warranty repair.
  5. Use braided line and a strong rod. I usually don't fish frogs until I start seeing frogs around the lake. I also like the Spro frogs but the scumfrogs are an okay, less expensive, alternative.
  6. When I was a senior in high school I tried to learn the guitar. I tried for 3 months and could not get it down, but I did manage to learn "Turn the Page" by Bob Seger. After that I stopped trying, but sometimes I think about attemmptng it again.
  7. Just out of curiosity, where do you fish in KY? I fish around Barkley and Ky dam.
  8. Your 10 lb. will be fine, but when you go to respool I would go up to 12#. It is a good all around size for many applications, IMO.
  9. Well, after receiving a lot of good advice, you couldn't have picked a worse rod for soft plastics. : X2. LOL I like Ugly sticks and they are good for bobber fishing and some moving baits but I would not use one for jigs/plastics.
  10. Ruger 10/22 will solve your problem. j/k. We had a similar problem in my parents house when I was younger, and my dad ended up borrowing a trap and trapping the animal.
  11. G. Loomis MBR783C. I can cast almost anything in my tackle box. When only one rod is going with me it is this one or its spinning version.
  12. I have a GL2 spinning rod and two IMX casting rods. I love my IMXs and can tell a big difference between the IMX and GL2, but have never fished a GL3 or any other rod that is in the same league as an IMX.
  13. I use a 6'6" spinning rod for topwaters and jerkbaits. I can't get good action on a longer rod.
  14. I would have said the SJR783 but that may be a little too heavy for 6# line. So I would go with the 782 or the rod RW recommended.
  15. If you go with the in line spinners try to find some of the Mepps with a signle hook instead of a treble hook. I seem to have more hookups on fish with smaller mouths when using the single hook mepps. They are hard to find though. Also I would get the smallest lures you can get a decent cast with.
  16. IMO, that ardent reel is a gimmick adnyour money would be beter spent elesewhere. Pick up a Citica, Revo S, or other similarily priced reel. I have used a Daiwa Advanage that worked great and I am currently using my Curado 200DHSV. Just get a good solid 6.2:1 low profile reel and you will be good to go.
  17. I fish the big waters of KY and Barkley lake almost exclusively, although it is tough sometimes when confined to the banks. I don't have access to any private water but I do fish some small ponds in the Land Between the Lakes occasionally. I hope to see everyone at KY lake in the spring.
  18. I would add some crankbaits in varying depths down to 10'. I prefer Bandits or Rapalas but whatever you want. I would get at least one Rapala DT-6
  19. You could try stoners invisible glass and some newspaper. I can get most anything off my windshield with it.
  20. I usually throw my flukes on a spinning rig as well. However, sometimes I will throw them on my MBR783C w/ Curado 100D. When baitcasting I use a weighted shank hook and skin hook the fluke. I have not had any hookset problems.
  21. Be sure to wet the knot before cinching it down completely.
  22. Hey Marsh Master check out these handles from BPS. I have a couple on some Ambassadeurs and it looks like they might fit your Curado. I have a CU201BSF on the way and when I get it I can let you know for sure if the handles fit on there. These handles feel prety solid and don't look too bad. Plus it beats paying $80 for one. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_96598_100004001_100000000_100004000_100-4-1 EDIT: The handle fits on nicely but the drag star will no longer click when adjusted.
  23. I think the Curados start shipping some time this month (August) but the Citicas don't ship until October
  24. For most soft plastics a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG worm hook (I like Gamakatsus) will do the trick. Buy a couple packs each for each size and you should be good to go. I don't wacky rig so I can't help you there.
