  1. I use bobber stops 99% of the time when I need one. I’ll use both when using a 2oz. punch weight. Mike
  2. I don’t use them much, but when I do I only throw RC’s on 12# Sniper. Mike
  3. So glad the state is starting to realize what that place could be again. I didn’t know they started a reclamation plan...Great News! We used to put in at the old Winter Park ramp. There were some holes SE of there just off a flat that everybody always ran to first. It was a good place to get your arm broke. Mike
  4. HA!!! Every Friday from Scala’s at 69th and Ashland! He would get the meat from either Casio’s Food’s or Ambrosino’s on Marshfield Ave. I’m going to sleep tonight with a smile. Thanks Pal! Mike
  5. When I answered the question earlier I was thinking the same thing!! It’s been too long Mike
  6. Both... South Side (Little Sicily 69th Str) Mike
  7. It wasn’t hard. No other body of water in the state has been threatened as much as Rodman has been. I’ve fished it since the early 90’s. The “hard times” are always a threat to return and it doesn’t seem like it will ever end. It was really threatened In the late 90’s early 2000’s when we all thought that the dam would go. But it’s always been a hot button since the dam was built. Fortunately no one had a restoration plan in place. But since they started talking about just putting in a canal in the earth dam on the East side it kinda died down a little as far as I know. I understand and appreciate restoring the flow of a river there that I don’t remember the name of, but it would be a d**n shame to destroy truly one of bass fishing jewel’s Even now the best fishing is always around the draw down. Mike There was a time Rodman, Apopka and Okeechobee was THE places to go in the state. Even Toho and all the other chains of lakes didn’t compare. Mike
  8. Oh Yeah! I’m full blooded Sicilian my friend, I never met a sausage I didn’t like. Especially off the grill smothered in green peppers and onions. ?? Mike
  9. OP I think you’re overthinking it a bit and giving scent to attract fish and illicit a strike too much credit. Mike
  10. The thickest, fattest hot dog I could find and burnt marshmallows!! Mike
  11. I added a feather to all jerk baits, but the 3 top water baits I use the most a feather would be counter productive. Mike
  12. Mike L replied to Jcj90's topic in Fishing Tackle
4/0 Skip Gap for all stick type baits. For the very reason you asked Mike
  13. When we were on the road in the motor home for the first 5yrs after retiring, I had a rule which a lot of RV owners have... We stop after 4 hours or 4:00 which ever comes first. Of course we weren’t on a timetable or have a deadline Mike
  14. Down here most lakes are all the same, so primarily as a co angler I always have the same 6 pre rigged no matter where I’m at. Punch/heavy cover.. (pre rigged with a 3/4 and go up from there) Swim worms Top water Frog/swim bait Spinner/chatterbait Weightless/light cover Mike
  15. Not necessarily a modification of a specific bait, but a few rigging modifications that I do..... On my punch rig I put 2 sometimes 3 bobber stops below a 1 oz and up tungsten weight depending on the depth of the concave bottom. After separating the tag from the tail of a Rage Cut R, I don’t remove it completely. I leave the other end attached which gives it a little extra action. In dirty water I add a punch skirt when throwing a weightless stick bait. Mike
  16. In my opinion... The weight of the small amount of backing needed is a non factor. Also, backing never needs to changed no matter what line is used. I have cheap mono backing on reels for over 10 yrs. In my opinion backing is needed for only 2 reasons....When re spooling to save line which saves money using expensive main lines especially on deep spools.. And to keep slick braided line from slipping on the spool. Mike
  17. It’s sad to think that so many people here and elsewhere would say “Who” when they hear his name. He truly was special. Thanks @Bubba 460 Mike
  18. Don’t sleep on them as a stand alone t rig in any type of cover. Mike
  19. 16# or 20# straight flouro depending on cover. Mike
  20. If I get hit on a slack line most times it wouldn’t be felt. Anyway, I swing to hook ‘em which is always best on a tight line. Mike
  21. Favorite is Okeechobee but caught my biggest out of Stick Marsh (11.34) Mike
  22. My setups are designed based on cover not technique. They’re used for both Matted/heavy cover...Curado G Moderate/light cover...Curado K Mike
  23. Folks would be shocked to find out how many professionals do the same thing. Why would anyone who’s lively hood depends on catching fish, waste their practice days in obvious unproductive waters? Just to prove they were right? What advantage is there in that? Mike
