  1. Good Luck!! Mike
  2. If you’ve never been there you’ll love it. It’s like going back in time to a simple way of life every place you go and everything you see. Mike
  3. You’re getting there!! Mike
  4. Excellent Advice! We talk so much about different baits, actions and conditions but not so much about where it all starts which has a bearing on everything. Mike
  5. There are so many variables in this sport already, so to place a limitation on anything seems counterproductive to me. Mike
  6. Always split the tail. The action of a twin tailed bait comes as a package. A heavy bodied plastic can undulate as a thin bodied one can sway while some depending on how it made can wiggle ever so slightly. My point is they’re made as a package. By not splitting you’re hindering the reason what it’s designed to do Mike
  7. My Ma wouldn’t learn how to drive until she was in her late 50’s. She always said… ” If I need anything Papa will take me” Well, when Dad passed she was in her early 70’s and then she wanted to learn. My brothers and our wives told her we would take her anyplace anytime, but didn’t matter. After a while she started to decline mentally. We kept pleading with her to call us but I guess it was a pride thing. All changed when I got a call that she had an accident in her driveway!! What?? How?? The lawn service I hired parked his trailer across the driveway blocking her in. But, she wanted to go somewhere. So, she backed into the trailer!! When I asked her if she saw it there she said she had, so why did she back out anyway with the trailer blocking her?? She said “He shouldn’t have parked there” True story I took her keys and sold the car. Point is she could have hurt herself or someone else if she went somewhere when her state declined any further. She was mad, we felt bad, but had to be done Mike
  8. 5’10” Full blood Sicilian I took my immediate family (2 children, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren plus husbands and wives) to Italy and Sicily over this past Christmas and New Years holidays. While in Sicily I was able to trace my direct family line back another 4 generations to approximately 1489 and I think I can go back farther yet. Mike
  9. Florida Georgia Alabama Tennessee So Carolina Mike
  10. Superstitious Scientific and both true Tom @WRB should be along soon Mike
  11. I throw a Magnum UV Speed Worm usually with a 3/16 weight more than any other. I’ve always use just a MH rod but one with the fastest action I own. Mike
  12. There are so many I heard over the years. Some are just silly while others….. *If bringing a woman on board she must always start fishing from the bow *Throwing a penny in the water before the first cast will bring good luck *Fish on the first cast, you won’t catch another *If you see a cow eating on shore the fish will also *If you see a cow laying down fish won’t bite *Fish will start biting if you relieve yourself over the side *A bass won’t hit a frog if the sun rises above the top of a tree line *Never fill the live well before you catch a fish * 80/20 Rule..20% of the water holds 80% of the fish *Absolutely positively no bananas!! Mine.. Always the same hat Fish on the first cast thing.. (I always just toss my bait in the water first, then bring it up and go) And of course NO bananas Mike
  13. Atta Boy!! So happy for you!! Mike
  14. Amen Brother!! Mike
  15. When I was asked to become the newest Moderator I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to contribute much considering the team @Glenn has already in place. The vast majority of the members here made the decision for me. I was concerned that I would make a decision that would set this place back 10yrs! I quickly learned even tho I sometimes overthink every decision for the benefit of all, the patience of the team, the sharing and caring of the members, have made it seem less Mike
  16. @Swamp Girl I’ve found it to be true more times than not Mike
  17. Oh Man!! Atta Boy!! Outstanding! Mike
  18. I don’t have a universal follow up, as it depends what I was throwing. If I swing and miss a bottom contact bait I’ll just stay with that and maybe change the follow up angle, bounce it, slow it down or even speed it up. It’s more of change up presentation type deal. If a moving bait, since I already got a reaction out of her and she was moving to get it unlike a bottom bait, I bank on her awareness, reaction and aggressiveness to come back. I may throw something different or not. A lot depends on how she hit it I got her attention with what I threw, I may not with something completely different. But that’s me Mike
  19. Hey @Glenn Bradford to Seattle (33mil yr) You got your man Mike
  20. It’s simple, easy and can do it bouncing around in the wind. Some of the ones posted about on here I won’t even try. Mike
  21. Yeah it did! Matter of fact I thought it went through easier without any popping or jigging. I thought the uni to uni looked a little too big as I used 6 turns each but soon realized 4 would have been better but didn’t want to start over again so I left it. No problem there at all Mike
  22. Mike L replied to KP Duty's topic in Everything Else
Good for you! I hope you find her a good home Mike
  23. For years I’ve not been interested in using any type of leader material for Bass fishing. Living on the SW Florida coast I do however use leaders when fishing in all the salt water bay’s, canals and of course in the Gulf for obvious reasons. I would tie one on for the kids in fresh waters on occasion but that was more for my convenience. Being as 90% of my fishing is now as a tournament co angler I decided to try again. I read good reviews about Seaguars Ponce and decided to try it. Being as I only use braided line for 3 presentations, the smallest diameter I have currently rigged is 30# on my top water and weightless plastic combo. I got some 12# and went out yesterday as a 4 day practice window opened for a tournament next weekend. I was really surprised. I used a uni to uni to join and a San Diego Jam for the hook. I tied a snell for awhile also to cover all my bases. All 3 knots cinched down smooth and held with no slippage I decided not to retie and keep the same 3 ft section in as long as I could. I hate finesse fishing so I just did my normal thing with the same weights (1/8 to 1/4) and didn’t give it a 2nd thought. I punched through a small pad of Hyacinth, dropped into a few brush piles and even went up and over a few lay downs for 5 hours getting hung up twice but got loose without breaking off. The Pounce held really well with no noticeable a fraying or abrasion anywhere that I saw. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with it. Mike
