Lead or Tungsten
If I need a weight for any swimming type plastic I'll use lead. Anything that touches the bottom I use tungsten. Mike

I don't know. .I've never played in or heard of such a format like that. Would we still have divisions? How would the playoffs work? Mike

Anise baits not getting bit
John, I've been making my own anise scent's for years. (2/3 baby oil and 1/3 anise) I put it in a small spray bottle and keep it in my bag (co angler) I haven't seen a decrease at all but I make mine fairly strong. I keep all the plastics in vertically divided 3600 plano boxes and spay them all the night before even if none were used on the last outing. After each catch or useing the same bait for a while I'll spray it again before making another cast. I believe they can get acustomed to one particular thing if they constantly see, hear or smell the same thing over and over. There has been a debate for as long as I can remember if a bass' sense of smell is strong enough to be a catalyst for biting. Some say no, some say yes, some say a scent will only attract and keep them clapped on. I don't realy think many folks use anise that much..Garlic and commercially made scent's yes. IMHO thier sence of smell is way down on the list as being one of the main reasons that will make a bass hit. But it can't hurt Anyway to answer your question no..so far so good. Mike Mike

Absolute's
Respectfully and completely disagree with your first sentence. The purpose of my thread wasn't intended to imply that anyone who hasn't developed any over the years is any less a student of the sport than those who have. "Learning experiences" never end, nor should they Good Luck Mike

Absolute's
We all have feelings about what to use when we don't know what to use.. We all have opinions of what would be better to use in a given situation.. We all have confidence in one bait or one presentation over some others.. But how many of us have certain, no doubt about it, Absolute's? ..I mean the "don't try to talk me out if it", "I don't want to hear it", "no matter what you say" Absolute's! For me it's... *Will not use mono for anything, ever *65# minimum braid for punching matt's *Tie a snell knot on punch rig *A frog is always first *High quality flouro for all bottom contact baits *Have a professional clean and lube all reels *Retie everything before I leave the house and after 3 fish hooked, landed or not *Put the hat I was wearing when I caught my personal best either in my lunch bag or on my head Whats your's? Flipping fluro vs. braid
I was more interested in the 65# for punching matts exclusively. I really have no complaints about Power Pro, but it's getting time to change it out and thought about switching. Thanks Mike

Thoughts on ishs phat frog
As others have said inspect the hook where it meets the body. I prefer the Scum frog line mainly because they are much much softer and easier to set. Mike

Flipping fluro vs. braid
I was gonna start a new thread asking about these lines. Thanks for the comments about them! Mike

Flipping fluro vs. braid
For the conditions you describe, Absolutely use braid! On my flippin setup to fish the same vegetation I use 65# braid. If it was clear water, heavy but scattered throughout a quality 20# flouro would be fine. Mike
