  6. My cousin married a man from Mexico who's 15 yr old daughter is having her Quincennra tomorrow night back home in Chicago. I never heard of such a thing and know nothing about about it. Before we left I was asking other family and friends about it and apparently it is a big deal! I'm told in a lot of ways it is more formal, structured and much more steaped in tradition than a traditional wedding that we're all familiar with. Hey Raul, my wife says I even have to wear a tie!! Is that right? Mike
  7. In my hands the CL is much more lighter and sensative than the Extreme.Thats why I would use it for bottom contact baits where those attributes are critical. And Yes, since the Extreme is heavier and not as sensative that's why I recommended the flouro or braid to help you feel the bite better in heavy cover. If I had to chose it would most definitely be the CL over the Extreme, you could do the same things and being lighter you may like it better for throwing moving baits all day. To me where I fish A med/fast rod would work great in open water and light cover.. I have not used a Aetos rod so can't comment on it, but there are lot of folks on here who do. And from what I have read I would agree.
  8. For me they're different rods for different applications. The Extreme is heavier and not as sensative in my hands. Between the 2, I would use the Carbonlight for bottom contact and maybe for moving baits if I was gonna be casting all day. The Extreme would be for heavy cover with a quality flouro or braid in calm conditions to help feel the bite better. However, a lot would depend on the specs of each rod. If I was to pair them with a BPS reel, I would put the PQ on the Extreme and the JM on the Carbonlight. Mike
  9. Over the years I've owned or fished a BPS Extreme and Carbonlite rods and feel they are excellent rods for the money, on par with most all others in thier price range. The same is true about the PQ reel which I end up useing more than any other I have. The Extreme reel I have is a mag brake only model and only use it for when I need to make long pitch's. JM Sig reel is excellent! Yes it's a bit larger if comparing to a Curado I or a Lews but it's smooth as silk and casts a mile. And even a little lighter than the PQ. It's not a very popular reel here, but deserves to be. Mike
  10. Sure will..I'll find you, If you can break away for lunch one day it's on me. Mike

  13. Steve, Will you be at icast? Mike
  14. I'm thinking of trying the Flippin braid. I'm curious, other than the color what is it that you like over whatever you were useing before. Thanks Mike
  15. Now you're talking! Mike
  16. 65# or 80# original Power Pro. Thinking about trying Seaguar new flipin braid tho. The black color has me intrigued. No leader ever. Mike
  17. When I'm targeting big, fat ladies I look for the heaviest matted vegetation in the lake and punch till I can't anymore. I'm very fortunate to live where I do and know it. Mike
  18. I hate it when threads get to this point. When you guys start to explain another creatures makeup and try to explain it all in scientific, technical and theoretic terms. The truth is we DON'T know exactly how or what a fish sees, feels, hears or tastes. Some of you fellas are highly intelligent with decades of data, and I appreciate and admire your intelligence and willing to share all your knowledge. I wish I was as educated as you. But I for one don't want to know everything there is to know about how a star is born, how a black hole is formed or what a fish knows or don't know. Don't misunderstand, I appreciate you sharing and welcome another of these discussions, disagreement's when it will invariably happen. Call it and me what you will as I'm too old to change now. But Sometimes just knowing what I don't know is good enough for me. Mike

  22. Depends on your water and the weight of your jig. 10# would be great for finesse jigs and IMHO nothing heavier than a 1/4 oz but only in open water and ligntly scattered vegetation. I have not had a break off that I could honestly blame the line itself for. Be carefull when tieing your knot and if and when you get a backlash DO NOT cink it..That is where the breakoff WILL happen with any flouro line. Mike
  23. There is no "should". Line choice is a matter of personal preference for the type of lure and conditions in the waters you fish. Flouro, braid, co poly and yes to some mono, is used for jig fishing. Over the years I've used them all for jigs and other bottom contact baits (except mono) and they all have thier place for me. Now I use 20# Floroclear exclusively on my dedicated jig setup regardless of conditions, except when punching very heavy matted cover. Mike
