  1. The little, seldom talked about and under appreciated Scum Frog. Mike

    Hello and Welcome! Mike
  3. In the lakes I fish down here, I prefer to use presentations that cover more water. Wacky rigging is a slow, methodical, time consuming way to fish. Granted it will catch fish, but there are others that I prefer that are just as, if not more effective for me. Mike
  4. Maybe I should start another thread, but I don't understand where all the wasted line comes from when useing the Palomar. Pull the main line to cinch and tag to tighten. There is no more waste than any other knot. Mike
  5. Loomis GLX 843C MBR casting rod, Chronarch 100SF reel spooled with 20# braid. Sorry no picture. Mike
  6. When I used to throw a wacky rig, which I assume you're asking about, I always used a O ring with a circle hook and rarely had a problem hooking up. Mike

  10. Of the ones I have in that range, I like the Curado I Mike
  11. Well if you want to get technical, you can reel a 6 faster to get the same a 7 would give also. I just prefer not to. Mike
  12. I like it just the way it was. I agree, with more teams a deeper bench would be the way to go. Mike
  13. 4/0 or 5/0 Trokar TK 130 in scattered vegetation depending on the thickness of what I rig. Owner 4/0 or 5/0 twist lock hooks in the really heavy stuff. Mike

  15. I've always texposed every plastic I throw until I started useing the Trokar TK 130 hooks. With those I don't penetrate the plastic anymore. They're so sharp it isn't necessary, especially when snelling the knot Mike
  16. Ditto Mike
  17. Mike's Meatballs are in! Mike
  18. I have a 7ft GLX 843C MBR paired with a Chronarch 100SF spooled with 14# Sniper that I use for all t-rigged plastics up to 1/2 oz weights even tho the rod is rated up to 3/4. At first I really didn't like it too much as It has the softest tip of any rod I own. But after useing it more and more I've come to really appreciate it's versatility. I can skip with this setup better than I thought. Even tho the lower end rating is 1/4 oz, useing an 1/8 will fit what you're looking for with this rod with no problem, plus it will give you a little lee way. I know you're looking at an NRX, but I can't imagine it being THAT much better. Just a thought that I hope helps. Mike
  19. I use 12# Yo Zuri for my crank and spinnerbait/chatterbait setup's and very satisfied. Mike

  22. Being new I would recommend a spinning setup. It would be easier, lighter and you would probably enjoy it more. That said being I use a casting setup for everything including skipping under docks, but there are many, many folks who use spinning rods for everything. There are very few "this is better for that" presentations. Finesse fishing isn't one of them .. It's what you feel comfortable with and have confidence in. Since you already have a casting setup I would get a spinning also. Good Luck and Welcome Mike
