The canals in Cape Coral hold fish. You can try The Kennedy Chain which is just a bunch of interconnecting canals that flow into what they call the Kennedy Chain. If you have a boat the only place you'll be able to get on plane is in the lake and then it'll only be for about 3min. The local club fishes it a lot. There some vacant lots in and around there you can fish from tho. Also you can fish the Gator Slough which is accessible by an old, uneven dirt ramp on the north end of the Cape. There are supposed to be bigger fish in there but you couldn't tell it by me! Webb Lake does hold fish. There is a dock on the main road that parallels the lake that you can fish from if you want. Stay on the main road leading into the ranch and turn just past the gun range as there are a few ponds back in there, the range officer will give you a map if you ask. BUT BE CAREFULL! Don't even think about it after any kind of rain, or at night. They'll still be looking for you after the first snow. Mike

Mmmm Never seen or heard about wrapping a hook for T rigging. Trebles yes but not single hooks. I would imagine the fall would be somewhat more horizontal than being nose weighted. Like I said...Mmmm Mike

Folks have been rigging that way for generations because they flat out catch fish. Sometimes it wont matter what plastic you're useing. There are certain absolute's in life...And one of them is an uneighted Texas rigged plastic will catch a fish. Mike

I've had a 1 lb. largemouth hit one. Since I've never caught a smallmouth, I can't imagine one not. Mike

As long as the rod has enough backbone to it I don't think it matters. My punch rod is a H/XF that I use 60# braid on and wouldn't change a thing. Mike

Joe Don't misunderstand, you can catch fish down here this time of year. I know guys who Like it more now than any other time! As a matter of fact, I was in a tournament on the Big O yesterday where the top 76 boaters and top 17 co anglers all had double digit bag's! Just keep trying high percentage presentations for your waters and have some fun. Mike

Florida bass notoriously go from slugglish to flat out shutting down around cold fronts. Of course they still have to eat but you'll have to find the ones who want what you're throwing, at the speed you're thowing it. If they're not in the mood at the right time, or in the right palce, and not interested at that time you might as well pack up and go home. Same may be said for bass across the country, but down here temperature, and conditions seem to have a greater affect. At least from what I've experienced. Bedding starts earlier here than anywhere else in the country for obvious reasons but the big girls don't spend much time at it. They can do thier thing more than once during a season and then move off to recover. Thats why more dinks are caught this time of year as the males are in the protect the nest mode longer. By mid to late February into early March it will seem that anything you throw will get bit. The reason is the fronts are weaker, fewer and farther apart. Mike

HA, I'm sure we are! Yes! Mattter of fact I was there 2 weeks ago. A neighbor stood on the top of the dam, if you can believe that, and caught a 20" snook! I fished off the old dock behind the picnic table but didn't get anything. Last summer we took a small jon boat all the way up about 2 miles I guess, and did pretty good. When you get farther down its loaded with pads and lay downs. I was thinking about going back soon and check it out again as I'm sure that area is loaded with beds. Mike

Welcome!! First off you do not "need" to use floro For flippin in heavy vegetation I use 65# braid. For lighter cover I'm switching from 15# Invisex to 17# sniper or shooter. 20# for jigs. Use what your conditions and confidence tells you. Mike
