  1. Had to leave earlier. The Hydras sink slower the skirt flares more(like Jakarol24 mentioned) and in a different motion more fluid when given a twitch than the Ika skirt. The Hydras dont seem to fall away as much. Oh the Hydras are VERY soft squishy where the Ika more firm dense. I have a little butane solder iron that use to fix them get much more use this way. They do tend to tear easily. Too I got some MEND-IT see how that works. Dont throw them away they can be repaired. I got over 20 bass on one Ika and 14 still going on one Hydra.
  2. I guess Pike are rather good tasting from what my co-worker and others have mentioned.
  3. I like Strike King Rocket Shad little spinnerbaits
  4. Well here is what I got from Thanksgiving sales: Cumara Reaction rod,,Iobee Frog, River2see Dahlberg Frog, Bama Bug Senkos, Kinami Palm Trees, Fat Ika Damiki Hydras 3" & 4", some hooks.
  5. How light you mean and what the high-end of your medium and what kind of structure will you be throwing in? Reason for asking there are Shimano Cumara Reaction rods for $100 at TW reg $240. The model is 7'6" Medium-Light 1/8-1/2oz rating. I bought this and was out throwing 1/2 oz Red Eye Shad and it handled fine for those. KVD 1.0 or 1.5 or any 1/4 oz crank The rod does have some flex in it so if wanting to throw bigger deeper diving wont be good. So its not a "do all" cranker but more toward the lighter side. Here is short description off TW site. CUC76ML. Soft Cover - Speed Traps and other 1/4-ounce or slightly larger crankbaits in shallow to medium depths. Here a google search page with a review by Tackle Tour http://www.google.co...6&bpcl=40096503 Oh and sorry for the redirection but it is a good deal on a very good rod if it fits your wants. I have a number of Croix rods and like them very much so nothing against them just letting you know about a deal.
  6. Straight braid for me. I fish in clear water a lot with vis around 15' down. One thing I notice is my braid will match the color of the weeds I pull in. My PPS8S Aqua-Green very closely matched the weeds early spring/summer then when weeds strarted going off/dead late summer/fall my Timber-Brown matched them very well. If you match the hatch why not match the weeds to blend in. I tried leader this year and didnt care for the loss of sensitivity but was using Yo-Zuri not fluoro. I also use thinner braid like 8,10,15 not the anchor rope 50 stuff.
  7. I use through eye twice 6-7turn uni knot per PowerPro manual. I went to this from the nano knot (double palomer) on Nanofil and knot strength improved over 30%.
  8. Hi not from OK but a SOONER fan This former SOONER player had a great day today. Think he fits well between the 2 other players shown.
  9. If you can get a good Carbonlite thats what I would pick. By that I mean a smooth one they have an issue of being hit/miss with the smoothness of retrieve geary feel. I greased my gears and that help very much plus it is a great caster. Ive went head to head with my 50E throwing down to Bitsy Minnow size cranks and the Carbonlite equals the 50E in distance. The lightweight is nice if you have a rod that balances well with just a 5.9oz rod. Mine is on a Smoke rod that is made for a light reel balances very well.
  10. Here a good bait to try out http://www.bassresou...-beat-the-heat/
  11. Yes also like fishing weedmat pockets, low overhangs the action of falling away would be taken away by weighted jighead. The Hydra, the action of the tentacles as you give it a little twitch on the decent looks jellyfish like very fluid on its own. These also weigh just under 1/2oz(.42 if I remember correctly) bc can easily handle them. You can feel them bouncing around on the bottom as well. In current a weight might help but my conditions dont need it.
  12. A Berkley Cherrywood rod color to me. I have a LTB and think the handle on that is a bit too small this Cumara grip does looks short. If the edge isnt all that firm hard might be ok.
  13. Damiki Hydras Palm Trees/Fat Ikas These are used with Quantum Smoke rod Carbonlite reel@ just 9.3oz LTB MLXF rod 50E reel Also 10" RageTail Thumpers and Anacondas
  14. Many more Angels in Heaven right now Heard this on the radio waiting for my kids to be let out of school. I noticed quite a few of us go meet/hug them as they came out when we usually just let them come to our vehicles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ZPgtSVXi63I
  15. hollow-bodied frogs my favorite,,lipless cranks, wacky-rig plastics
  16. I use infrared temp gun. I use this at work and for my other hobbie RC with nitro engines as well. Just point at water and take reading or grab a rock, weed, limb out of the water and take its temp.
  17. Still use the first spool of PP I bought 10 years ago. Its on my son's reel the stuff doesnt go bad.
  18. I like braid Super8 on all my reels. Based on my 10years with PP Im certain I feel bites on less than taunt line with a bow, no doubts. Ive use nightcrawler weightless and let the rod tip down and can feel the line when it twitches from a bite. Not just from a bass pulling it but from little gills nipping at the worm. See the line at the rod tip being aggravated. Ive fished this way countless of times 2 years in a row a good 90% WL crawlers was the only technique I used and a good 60% of my time otherwise always have crawlers with me. I think the lack of slack line feel of braid has been over-exaggerated by many just to hype their fluoro.
  19. Silver. cause it matches the spindles To add a color, just sayin, to match the knobs something like brass or so might look swell.
  20. All thats left((@TW) for the Cumara in the Reaction(crankbaits) line is the 7'6"ML. I got this one been throwing 1/2oz red eye shads. If you're wanting to throw heavier cranks pass on it. Plastics havent tried but it is flexible and for all-purpose plastics might not work well with plastics hooksets. Thats my independent analyisis. Me personally I will throw wacky senkos with it and think I will like it very much. I use braid and the open hook of wacky rigging helps on hookset in this matter. My favorite rod is a St Croix Avid 8'ML Mod rod and this Cumara almost behaves the same just a bit more power. I fish mostly open waters with weeds to tend with no rocks timber so like the fight the lighter powered rods give. I have a 50E on it so the comments of the curado/cumara combo being nice is spot-on
  21. Ive had excellent results from my Pinnacle reel. Deadbolt Classic I bought it in '03 for $70 and never one bit of trouble out if it. Give the handle a spin and it rotates a good 40 times or so. Its worn beaten and scarred. Left on top of my car driving 45mph down the road and hear something and see in rearview mirror my rod/reel scraping across the road into the curb DOH!! Was my only bc I used for 7 years, still used as my jig and spoon reel now. Totally exceded my expectations cant say that of my newer bc purchases.
  22. 1/2oz Chrome/Blue for me. Bass, Northerns, Crappie it catches a variety of fish.
  23. TW has Cumara 7'7" Hvy Fast for $100 they label it a "punch rod" would that be too powerful for you dont know Cumara rod strength.
  24. I jumped on a 7'6" Reaction rod really no reason other than the price $104 figured wth. They do still have a few in ML,M,MH.
