Wacky Rig Senko
- Question about Forumums
This quirk has been mentioned but there doesnt seem to be a fix for it just work around. Other sites are easier to just go back to previous place but not here anymore. Plus "veiw new content" shows ALL content for some reason.- Best rig for skipping soft plastic
The Daiwa SV105 baitcasting reel is very easy to skip with.- Rod Weight
no a few years old now.- If you fish fluoro
I have a couple Smoke rods(my favorite rods actually) and PPS8S works very well followed by Smackdown these are 8 strand lines. Any 4 strand line is going to be noisier, worst offender Ive tried being Sufix performance braid 20#.- Rod Weight
My St Croix Legend Elite 7'6" M/F is 3.9oz- If you fish fluoro
Ive used 12# Sniper with my CI4 throwing ikas. I set the reel 2 brakes internal, 4 on the dial. I have 0 issues with this setting. Its now on a 50E with 2 brakes on throwing keitech paddle tails. I never have used L&L on the line. I have 10# Sniper on a Daiwa SV105 brake setting 5 tossing 1/10 ned rig threw very well. I tried going light on the brakes 2 clicks and that didnt work out too well. I also had the 50E with 10# had same setting of 2 brakes on no issues. No L&L on this line either.- What is everyone's tops lures for ice out bass fishing?
This may be a potential favorite looking forward to using the ned rig w/baitcaster at ice out.- Shad Rap Set-up...
Spinning set-up 8' MediumLight Moderate Avid, 6# Nanofil, reel Shimano Stradic 1000 Casting 7'6" MediumLight Mod-Fast Shimano Cumara rod 10# PPS8S braid Core50mg reel. Will switch out the Core this year for DaiwaSV105P see how that handles. I throw MFR-3's as well, bit more compact for the weight thrown.- Dye coming off braided line?
FULL SPOOL--You definitely want the base of the braid on TIGHT. This will help prevent digging issues later on. Yes the top portion that you cast out will loosen up after casting but the base/remainder of the line will still be tight. You wont be digging into the base material easily. If you finger tight a full spool of braid a good hookset will bury the line in itself much deeper than a TIGHT base. PARTIAL SPOOL w/BACKING--If you use only a topping of braid to begin with say 150' or so this wont matter much, getting braid tight, but the backing material filler should be put on very tight as well.- Dye coming off braided line?
You have now been initiated into BOBU Brotherhood Of Braid Users- POLL: We need a Pond/Bank fishing forum!!
I dont ever really view individual forums just have set up to view posts since last visit, all the forums are jumbled together. The thing is those that dont want one wouldnt have to go to it if they didnt want to, if they view forums separately. But I have a feeling if there was one the ones that voted NO would be in there rambling their 2cents.- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
If you want to use DVT's words OK-- DVT quote http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/86950-tip-heavy/?p=991184 "Weight added weight anywhere on the blank has a negative affect on sensitivity. With that said, a small amount of weight on the butt area would have the least affect and admittedly probably less that human hands could detect" -- Im not discrediting him Im using his own words. Weight anywhere on the blank so that would include the reel seat area with heavier reel or say larger guides towards the tip, anywhere. And then stated small weight on the butt will have the least effect (on sensitivity) less than could be detected so that would lead it to being the best place to add weight if wanting to.- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
When you put a reel on the rod that is weight on the blank the same as if you put weight on the butt with a cap you are putting weight on the blank. The weight is just attached to a different point. So instead of switching a 5oz reel for a 7oz reel you can add much less weight to the blank on the rear for greater effect.- Power Pro Super Slick
- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
and adding a heavier reel (like you mention to do at times) to balance is an even dumber idea- Power Pro Super Slick
- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
I've never held, or heard of, a rod that would balance right at the reel seat with no reel mounted on the rod. I replied the same see my underlined bold text- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
we had this discussion before and its better than adding even more weight with heavier reel. If it makes it more balanced it will help with sensitivity. Why add 3-4oz to rod, with reel, when 1/2-3/4 will do the same the less weight added overall the better. DVT quote http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/86950-tip-heavy/?p=991184 "Weight added weight anywhere on the blank has a negative affect on sensitivity. With that said, a small amount of weight on the butt area would have the least affect and admittedly probably less that human hands could detect" quote from: http://www.fishing-tackle-repair.com/rod-crafting/resource/articles/rod-balancing.html "Jump Lures Jigs, Worms, Spoons, etc. These are slack line techniques and tip heavy rods can be made more sensitive by adding weight to the butt."- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
That would be a poorly made rod. I have 5.5oz reel and 4.8oz 7'1" rod that balances 1/2" or so from reel And the same 5.5oz reel on my 3.4oz 7' rod balances about maybe 3/4" in front of reel A custom made 7' 5oz rod could be made to balance under a 5oz reel. Change hand position all you want palm the reel where ever but the balance point wont change it will remain the same.- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
So if you're at a seesaw and balance both ends, 50 pound kid on one end and 50 pound kid on the other, and add weight at the center fulcrum the balance will be out? No, The balance will remain the same- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
Your description is on an unbalanced rod though. On a rod that is balanced, fulcrum at the reelseat, where you hold it while fishing no matter the weight added/subtracted at the fulcrum point the balance will remain the same.- Your idea of light for rod/reel?
be it to the butt or heavier reel If I had to choose i would add less overall weigth to the butt than try to balance using a much heavier reel. - Question about Forumums
