  1. Ok, thanks. I may just hold off for a few weeks for some of the vegetation to grow. Sounds like a promising location, plus it'll give me the opportunity to fish somewhere new.
  2. How's the fishing there, especially this time of the year? Would I be able to take trailer? I read on DGIF that rooftop and canoes, however looking the area on google maps, there were dirt roads leading to the upper lake with some cleared land to park a truck and trailer.
  3. If the fishing is good at powhatan lakes, I'm all for going there. I have a jon, so there sounds fitting for me. What type of lake is it...flat bottom, aquatic plants, laydown tress, underwater structure, deep? How far is it from Richmond?
  4. Great, may go there instead of the James this weekend. Other chose was to walk a local lake/pond.
  5. Is Diascund thawed? Last time I attempted to go, I arrived to be highly disappointed.
  6. I agree, I'm for round 2! Never been to Powhatan lakes, love to fish a new location. Are fishing from the bank or are we using small boats?
  7. Plastics: Brush Hogs, Beavers, Zoom Flukes, Senkos, Zoom Trickworms, SK Finesse Worms, Ribbits, Roboworms, Chigger Craws, Colors: Blk/Bl, Gr Pumpkin, Watermelon Gr, Blk, Bubble Gum, Junebug, Browns
  8. I use a Uni-to-Uni knot to tie braid to flouro or mono. Here's a link to a site that has few different knots that may be useful to you. It's a great learning tool. http://www.netknots.com/html/fishing_knots.html
  9. Thanks, looks as though I'll wait unitl the late winter/early spring.
  10. I'll be there Saturday. It should be completely indoors.
  11. @Typed by ben, Thanks for the info. How is the fishing that area around this time of the year? The site looks promising.
  12. A catch like that, I wish I was. I was talking about James River HS in Chesterfield,VA, off Robious Rd. Watkins Landing is directly behind the high school, with excess to the James river.
  13. Thanks for the info, looking forward to putting at Watkin's landing.
  14. The landing behind James River HS, can a jon boat be put in there? Just noticed on the google maps.
  15. How's the small mouth fishing at Watkins Landing off Huguenot Rd, just above 288? Appears the water deep enough to put in a jon boat.
  16. Here is the correct dates: January 21-23, 2011 @ Meadow Event Park Fairgrounds of Virginia
  17. @SteveinVA: Go to your profile edit, upload picture from your computer, then refresh your page. The new picture should appear. When it does, just stroll down and click save.
  18. Congrats, nice catch!
  19. @Sam: Everything's great, thanks for asking. Looking to having another group outing come spring. Happy Holidays!
  20. Hey Sam, you mind PM me that site as well?
  21. I agree, a great place to fish, easy excess, and friendly/save environment for children. You'll get good results with the most basic fishing techniques.
  22. Thanks for the heads up, want to register for a fishing tournament eventually. Hopefully it's not winter by the time I make it out the LRC.
  23. Thanks, you both. My pops choose Diasund over LRC, after I told him the main differences btw the two. Trust me, I'm not ending the year out without visiting LRC. Thanks for the info on LRC current water level and status, sounds like the fishing there will be a different challenge for me.
  24. Went out Diascund Creek this morning, had a great time. Most fish were holding around 10-20 ft of water, out on the points. Caught a 2lb pike on a crank and 3lb LMB on a drop shot rig. Fish finder beeped all morning as I travel around, most were suspended in schools deep. Looking to get back out next weekend. Here photo of the bass.
  25. The DCR sounds promising from the article, at worst, I can always pickup and head out little creek. Looking forward to get out and fishing a new location.
