Briery Creek Lake...
I’m heading out to Briery for the first time this weekend. I'm not sure what to expect when I get there. I would be appreciative of anyone willing to share some insight, tips, or suggestions on fish Briery this time of year. I do have small outboard, so covering the entire lake is not an issue.

Always Something Cool On Chickahominy Lake
I had a so-so day on the water. Caught 3 bass (2 around 3lb) and a 6-8lb bowfin (first ever). In that case, any day fishing is a great day. We were out there for about 4-5 hours. One of my better outtings on the chick. The the 2 larger bass were caught early directly to the right the pier. The other was down lacey creek. We passed up johnson creek. Heading back out Monday morning.

Always Something Cool On Chickahominy Lake
@Micro: Thanks for the advice. The few times I've fished the Chick lake I got stumped, and stumped hard. So bad that I stopped fishing there all together last year because of it. I will be out there come early morning. Hopefully Ed's is open at sunrise.

Always Something Cool On Chickahominy Lake
Thanks. Still undecided on which side of the dam I want to fish, may end up fishing both, I have the entire day from the ol' lady to fish...lol. I'll be posting the biggest thing that bites my lure. Hopfully there will be some topwater action. Any suggestions how to attack the lake or the river this time off year?

Is there launch fee at Rock-a-hock camp grounds? If so, how much? And how early can you launch there?

Pink/bubblegum
@Rolo: Thanks for the response...heard they were deadly weightless, but I was unsure where a white worm would be effective.

How Much Do You Bring?
Bank Fishing: 1 soft tackle bag (lures and plastics), 1 rod with me, 2nd rod left in car, assortment of plastics left in car, camera phone. Keep it light and simple!

Nice picture. I know that bridge, fish the other often.

Pink/bubblegum
Would you use a weightless white trick worm in the same conditions you would a bubble gum color? If not, then when and how.

What Does Bass Fishing Do For You?
Destressor, relaxation, escape from everyday life, scenery, nature, being on the water, sport of it, the fight, the thinking game...

Tackle Addict
I admit, borderline addict. Tackle seems to grow every payday. I continue to buy lures and plastics I have success with, just in different colors. Usually don't stray away from what I normally use.

Sandy River Reservoir
luv2fish33: That was my plan for the next time I went out there. We shot to the upper end of the lake and fished the timber there and worked our way back. As you can see, we didn't do to well. Did you fish the rip-rap on your way to the other timber or just the hangover brush? I had hard dialing to what the fish wanted, however it was my first time there.

Sandy River Reservoir
Thanks, I'm back out there first chance. Like the next few weeks, actually. Everywhere you turn looks like the ideal spot to house bass.

Little Creek Reservoir (James City Co)
Appreciate the info. Looks as though two batteries a must there.

Little Creek Reservoir (James City Co)
Thanks. Is the water clearity better at LCR? I saw that they rent trolling motor and batteries, do they rent just the batteries?

Little Creek Reservoir (James City Co)
How is the bass fishing at LCR? Has anyone been out there lately that can share a report on the fishing and water conditions? Secondly, is it a electric motor only reservoir or small engine motor allowed?

Chatterbaits
Brought a Zman once, used it once...no success. Never looked at it again. I'm another fan of the swim jig and trailer, but I use the rage chunk trailers. Someimes the suttle approach is the best, no flash no sounds.

Sandy River Reservoir
Thanks...I'm hitting them with the Spro's next time, veggies should be fully blown in a couple weeks. Jigs will be in the back pocket to follow up.

Sandy River Reservoir
Bass heaven! I'm loving jigs now. All the bass we caught, all were on swim jigs and trailers. Letting the jigs swim and then die every few feet. Since that day out powhatan, I've been hooked on using jigs and using them a lot now. Yesterday, I threw a spinnerbait for the first time this year.

Sandy River Reservoir
Pocahontas is sleeper. There are huge bass out there. We can definitely get up and hit both locations. I didn't weight the fish, but I would say it was close to it. Pocahontas may be on the radar for next weekend. I have some new spro frogs I'm dying to use and some old ribbits for backups. As for Sandy, seems like every spot you looked at housed a bass.

Sandy River Reservoir
I had a great time out Sandy. We only pulled in 3 bass, but the scenery was the best. We got out just as the rain started. I can see why it's a bass heaven. We're looking forward to going back...very soon. Here's one of the fish I caught.
