Open up the side plate again and make sure you have the brakes on and not off. I think everyone has made that mistake before. Also note these brakes are different than the previous models. The brakes slide sideways to set on or off. Jeff

Just to be clear here, a 7'4'' rod will move more line on a hookset than a 6'6'' rod will, if all things are equal. Just make sure you drop the rod, reel the slack line until you feel pressure and set the hook hard! Works for me at least! Jeff

Good for you! Glad you found some rods you really like. Every time I do so, it is a great feeling. Just do not get caught up in 1 series of rods. In fact, my absolute favorite rod is 1 of only a couple I like in the series. Jeff
