I have a Quantum Catalyst in both spinning and casting and they are both great reels for the money. A couple months ago the baitcasting version was on sale for $100. Yes it was and on Bass Pro's Stacy was fishing one on Table Rock Lake. LOL, I had that on but was'nt paying attention. Yeah it's a pretty bad show, but it beats what ever other crap is on tv.

You need backing with braid, but you don't need a leader. If you use tape, it takes maybe five seconds longer than if you used nothing. It's not much of a hassle at all.

I started using tape after posting a thread about braid slipping a long time ago. It hasn't failed yet and takes a lot less time than mono backing.

If you count BPS, they do it pretty well.

Haha I think they might be. I am starting to second guess myself about purchasing it. Each piece is held together by some sort of cloth and I don't know if that is going to hold up. I also picked up a Tru Tungsten Tru Life that I have heard good things about.

Those look pretty slick. My buddy has an old Russian one that the military wore that's pretty awesome. This is the same one.

If I were to wear one and I saw only young, black men wearing them, that wouldn't discourage me to wear it one bit. If you like it, you like it.

I noticed the same thing where I live except it's huge coats with fur on the inside. I don't know why, probably just another fad of some sort.

Any experience with these? I picked one up with the left overs from my gift cards. It seems pretty well made, but I don't know much about swimbaits. Nice paint job too for a 15 dollar swimbait.

They played a horrible game. I thought Cassel was gonna play well based on his regular season performance, but I guess not. I too think they should have gave Charles the ball more. I think he is the best back in the league right now. There is always next year though.

I prefer a rod that's at least 7', but it's all about your preference. As far as the line goes, get the green or clear.

cranks and jigs, does that change anything? Well normally you would want two different rods for fishing crankbaits and jigs, but you gotta work with what you have. If I were you I would get a MH/F rod. It seems to be the most versatile. I would also not use braid.

You don't need a leader, but a lot of people like it if they are using braid for abrasion resistance and for less line visibility. When I used to use a leader I would tie a uni to uni knot and it worked out fine. What do you plan on using the set up for? Plastics, cranks, etc?

I second the President. It's a great reel for the money.

The way I see it, it's gonna be the Falcons and Pats in the Super Bowl and I think it will be a great game. The Pats will probably win, but the Falcons have a chance. I mean after the Seahawks beat the Saints, anything can happen.
