How Long Before You Switch?
Maybe after a couple of hours of hauling water. It's usually the location and/ or the aggressiveness of the fish, rather than the bait, for me.

Jig Weight
1/4 or 1/2. Those are the only two jig sizes I own anyway. I'll mess with the trailer if I want a faster/ slower fall rate. Also, I'm talking about casting jigs, not pitching/ flipping, which as I understand is a different ball game altogether.

Little Fish Or Skunked?
Depends if I'm fun-fishing or not. Sometimes a "follow" will make my day when I'm not fun-fishing. When I am, I start getting bored if I don't get a bite every fifteen minutes. fun-fishing = when I'm not targeting the biggest bass in the reservoir.

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
LOL, it was an epic day because senkos got outfished. Biggest I caught was only a 2 lb-er!

Any Va Members Fish Lately?
Pretty epic day, caught 5 on swimbaits (floating and slow-sink Mattlures hardgills) and only 2 on a wacky senko, real yamamotos too...

How Often Should I Re-Tie?
A well-tied knot does hold for a long time like Sir Snook says, I have gotten into the habit of retying every couple of hours though, and I check the first few feet of the line (run it through my finger tips) almost every other cast. Simple precautions go a long way to prevent a lost fish or a cast off bait. I'm also VERY particular about my knots. Sometimes I'll retie several times until the knot looks good.

The Dinks And The Skunk
The days I don't usually talk about.. I caught but one little fish on Wednesday; a big ol' skunk on Thursday, and three little ones today, after putting in some 20 odd hours on the water, Had a nice follow on the new hardbass on Thursday, and a huge blowup on a Slammer today, but that's about as interesting as it ever got. I assure you my average swimbait fish is a wee bit bigger than these

Few Questions About A Lake Thats Stumping Me
My mistake Nitro, I should have read your first post more thoroughly. I don't entirely agree with you (that one can not "target" big fish from the shore), but that may be because I fish tiny reservoirs, an order of magnitude smaller than rockchalk's.

Few Questions About A Lake Thats Stumping Me
Sounds good Speed, and I feel a little honored! Just let me know when and where, and my phone number is 434 327 97 zero eight.

Few Questions About A Lake Thats Stumping Me
Since we're talking about standing timber, I thought these pages might be of interest. I have preached this enough already, but anyone even remotely interested in catching larger than average fish should get a copy of this book IMO. Bill Murphy- In Pursuit of Giant Bass.

One Bite & One Bass ~
That is a chunk! You definitely did better than I did in the 8 hours I put in last Wednesday.... Lovely fall colors btw,

Looking For A Silent Suspending Jerkbait
Thanks guys. I'll look into modifying production baits. I've never done that before, so I'll probably start with something cheap. Thanks for the other suggestions too, Let me think a bit what I might want to buy. Dwight: I have a Pointer 128 and a 127; and I've caught a fair number of bass on them. I fish a couple of pretty clear reservoirs, and one super clear one. Lately I've been thinking if the fish I catch are in spite of the rattles.

Looking For A Silent Suspending Jerkbait
^^ that's the only one I found too. Looking for something a little bigger/ heavier. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

Looking For A Silent Suspending Jerkbait
One that dives to around 5 feet or less, in 3/4 oz size or thereabouts What are some of your favorites? Thanks,

Walkin The Dog
I'm no expert with this technique, but the way I see it is a longer rod is troublesome only if you can't work the bait because the rod is too long. That usually happens since we are used to jerk the rod downwards. You can walk the dog just fine with the rod held horizontally or even vertically.

Gunfishing
I hit the reservoir closest to my apartment for a couple of hours fishing after work today with a Pointer 127MR and a Gunfish 115. Caught three dinks on the pointer, and five on the gunfish; including a decent one. I've never caught anything nearly as big before from this lake; so I'm pretty stoked about it. Thanks to bluebasser86 for the Gunfish. Bait has some serious big fish mojo now; including a 7#, a couple.of 5#s, and several 4#s..

Good stuff man; thanks for sharing.

First Lure
I have so little time to fish this semester that I went 100% big bass mode, and 0% fun fishing stuff. So it's been either a jig or a swimbait lately...

Bass Vs Swimbait
I'll take what I can get after hauling water for 26 hours with jigs, worms, big swimbaits, medium swimbaits, and small swimbaits Fish is kinda small; but hey, it's the first fish I caught over 3 big-bass-chasing trips. 3 lbs 2 oz northern strain caught on the new Mattlures slow-sink hardbass from a small public reservoir in Central Virginia. (The bait fell out of the fishie's mouth seconds after I lipped it, and I didn't feel quite right about sticking it back in for the photo.) Also caught two small(er) ones on a slow-sink hardgill; but they were too small to weigh- even by my standards.

Shimano Citica Question
Haven't fished the G, but have owned the bantam citicas, and do own two D's and one E. Like the D the best of the three; closely followed by the E. I think the D is a more "solid" reel; only drawback is it's sort of heavy. But I think heavier reels balance rods better, so it's all good.

Best Baitcaster ~$200
Crazy as it might sound, I actually like heavier reels; I find they are better for a more balanced setup. I don't have any rods of the Legend Tournament caliber though; so probably a moot point.
