a very interesting study about "catchability"
With that take on everything, then we essentially know nothing about anything. Of course there are still questions out there. How else are they supposed to find out if catchable verses not catchable is heritable with out a FULLY CONTROLLED TEST? Any other way would be impossible. And no where in the study did it say "Hey nibbles, use this info to your advantage for you fishing hobby." They collected data and presented it. Thats it. You decide to dismiss it because not every fact is answered. I decide to use what they give me to make educated assumptions, or to add to what they have already presented. It's called progress.

a very interesting study about "catchability"
I think it is very relevant. The test was trying to prove a point. The existence of catchable more aggressive hunters verses the less aggressive more wary uncatchable bass. They could not even come to the public with the idea with out testing. A study test can not be considered legit unless it is fully controlled. The first round of separation and spawn was to see if the traits are inherent, the second round was to back up the first. Now, picture this. A country pond that is well balanced with bass and prey. It is never fished, ever. These bass would most likely be highly catchable. For, over many many generations there has been no need to be wary of any dangers. No, prey items have pulled them out of the water and they are the apex predator of the environment. Now, a large reservoir with tons of boats, countless of anglers, constant water level change. In larger, heavily fished, bodies of water generally the bass are not only predators but also prey. With gators and gar in the south and pike and muskie in the north. This piece of water is going to lean towards the uncatchalble bass over many generations. Now, both scenarios would obviously have both traits available but leaning heavily towards one or the other. How is it relevant for us? Depends on what types of waters you are fishing. Every piece of water lies some where between both scenarios. This could be why most anything will catch bass in the farm ponds and 1 million techniques are used on the large reservoirs.

Why don't they have these...
Yeah, it could be possible to make the whole thing man friendly. But as far as making it a good deal to both the buyer and seller, that's impossible. It would have to be low end gear sold at too high a price or high end stuff sold at a normal retail price and the seller would lose. Thats why they have events. BPS spring fishing classic. Outdoor shows. Both parties can win. Now if you were proficient at making your own quality lures then sure invite a bunch of fishing buddies over for the game and a few beers. Then when the buzz is on whip out a giant box of lures. Then you may be able to satisfy both the buyer and seller.

Live Chat
Same here. I'm on a reptile keeping forum, they have live chat and it's not moderated. For the most part people only go when we have chat events. Like, say for this site if we had a pro on for a question and answer session. I know we have live chats to discuss forum contests and thoughts on how to improve the forum. This place is about the right size. There would rarely be more than a handful in the chat room at any given time. Judging by the people here it would start out used quite a bit but quickly turn into a tool for the members to use vs. a free for all.

Storing plastics in a tackle box..
Plano 3730. they are tall enough to store your plastics in there original bags. If you dont use any of the dividers you can actually fit quite a few bags in them. They have them at most Walmarts. http://www.onestopfishingspot.com/images/detailed/Plano-3730.jpg

To Chatter or not to chatter?
Love the chatter.. good bait at dusk. I pretty much only use white/shad color and like to use a shortened fluke as a trailer. But the trailer it comes with is actually a very good trailer.

Beaver style baits(The New Senko?)
I use them any and every way. I have even Texas rigged white ones and worked them like a fluke to picked up active solitary fish I have seen slapping the surface.

Bass edge podcast?
Not sure if there is a thread about this already. I tried to do a search and didn't find anything. Does anyone know why they quit doing the podcast. They did a weekly podcast for over 2 years then in early 2010 said they were going monthly. Well that lasted till march and then just nothing since. There was no announcement of stopping during the last few shows. I can't find anything on their web site or anywhere else. Strangely enough BassFeeds podcast stopped just about the same time. Anyone know whats up with that?

Is there a bigger product sleeper than Roland Martin???
Well, if you really sit back and think about it. Obviously with out the constant pitching of products then there would be no show. If fishing shows had enough viewers they could get one BIG sponsorship that you would hear about once or twice and see thier commercials during the breaks. But, since there is no big sponser wanting to pick up these shows then you have to deal with the constant pitching of lots of products. When you get sick of Roland Mentioning a product every 5 minutes its not because he wants to say it that often. It because the sponsor says mention our product atleast 10 times or we pull our support. How is it different then the pro anglers ad splattered jerseys and boats. Nascar vehicles. With out sponsorship and lots of it there will be no room for fishing on TV. It would be replaced by cage fighting and womens basketball.

Is there a bigger product sleeper than Roland Martin???
Thank you. Roland Cracks me up. I don't think his product pitch would seem so bad if he were any good at it. He sucks at acting plane and simple. His pitches are very awkward like he is trying to rush through it and get it over with. But have you ever seen anyone better at pitching soft plastics under docks? The man can flat out fish. What does it say about todays field when he takes a look at it and says 'Yeah, I can still hang."

Is there a bigger product sleeper than Roland Martin???
He didn't get to fish his prime when there was big money on the line. Nine time AOY can do what he wants to retire comfortably. I hope he smokes the opens and earns his way into the classic and wrecks the field with his helicopter.

favorite wake bait?
You will not be disappointed in the Footloose. Me and a friend member here (we are from Indiana too) KILLED them this past fall on the Footloose. The fish couldn't get enough. Tiny bait that was bringing in big fish. The thing to realize is they are not a true wake bait they will run any where from 6" to 1.5' depending on the retrieve. BUT they are still deadly. This past fall was the first time using it. But assuming it will be just as effective pre-spawn. One of my first fish on this thing came out of the water to get it. I was at the end of my retrieve and pulling the lure out of the water and SPLASH. Yeah I'm standing there with a fish on, it took my be surprise I didn't know what to do. I was thinking I can't sit this fish down he is fresh and will flop off. Anyway, has to be the easy fish caught ever.

Getting shad and perch put into community ponds
You could try to get in contact with Michael Murphy. He is a pro angler with a degree in fisheries managment. He would be a great source to put you on the right track. He is a great guy that I am sure would be eager to help you out. http://michaelmurphyfishing.com/

Flip Clips Instead of Fizzing?
No no, he is talking about fish clips not roach clips. Big difference. One helps with balance the other makes one think they are more balanced.

PETA at it again!!
http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ If you really get into what peta is. The idea of them being for the ethical treatment of animals is a cover up for their real intent. The absolute eradication of animals from earth. I think the only way they would stop is if all animal were all dead. Because then the animals could no longer be mis treated. Now thats just talking about the peta people on the ground level. I have had a truck full of peta the last 2 years. Another hobby of mine is keeping and breeding some small harmless exotic pythons. There is all this hoopla about pythons taking over the world because they have become a large pest in the Everglades. peta has paid people to stage large pythons escapes for the news to cover in Florida while there was a python ban bill going through congress. It failed ultimately but it took a lot of work from the reptile hobby to do this. The large python problem of Florida is a real problem but it is a Florida problem. peta paid for "false science" to be reported and published stating that these snakes could live as far north as Kentucky. Luckily mother nature showed her wrath last winter and wiped out a large majority of exotic species and unfortunately some native species living in south Florida. A winter that most the rest of America north of Florida gets yearly. That was a bit long and I apologize and its just the tip of the tip of the iceberg. peta is smart in the idea of a scam artist. They don't care about the truth or saving animals, what they truly care about is making you think so, so you donate donate donate and line the pockets of the top brass.

Pattern: Fish was in the water Pattern in the Pattern: Fish was hungry All kidding aside, don't be shy. Come back on here and explain what your thought process was. Taking notes like that is more than I do. Keep at it and it will pay off!
