Odd Bass Behavior?
Yeah, its a whole different world with the weather here in Florida. That's why I find myself confused about presentation during the different seasons, because a lot of information on this site is based on northern states where it gets much cooler. I don't think the bass I saw was sick, but who knows. Thanks for posting and letting me know I'm not the only one to experience this, lol.

Odd Bass Behavior?
Ok, I was out by the canal (land fishing) the other day in 20 ft deep of water when I noticed a bass that was super close in the shallows about a foot away from the bank near a pile of tall dead grass. I thought well, let me see If I can get his attention, so after several attempts of using a tube, lizard, and a swimming senko, the bass seemed to be totally uninterested. Well, I thought maybe he just isn't hungry, so I tried the 'annoy the crap out of him till he bites' approach, but to no avail. All he kept doing was going back and forth to the center of the canal and kept going up and down the side of the bank, doing circles. What the heck is up with that? Every once in a while I'll also see gar really close in the shallows - my neighbor said it was because of the oxygen levels?

Ever Been To Obsessed?
Pretty funny topic, because that's all I do or think about as well is bass fishing. If I don't fish every single day, then you know there's something wrong with me. This site shouldn't have been called Bass Resource, it should have been called Bass Addicts Anonymous, because I think everyone here is addicted ;D.

Did you ever buy a lure/lures that just didn't catch anything???
I think part of it is that for the most part they're built like crap anymore. From horrible stock hooks to off center mounting of hangers and lips, it's a gamble that you'll get a decent one out of the pack. What a shame as it is one of the all time greats. They used to make Jitterbugs out of wood, those were the best, the ones they make now (plastic), I would go with the jointed version. I used to fish them at night, during the summer, when I lived in Massachusetts, and I caught my PB on a jitterbug fished at night. I always use black for night fishing. I would fish them in the evening, nothing, but once it got dark - KABOOM! There's no doubt when a bass hits them. Flat calm nights are the best, early summer. Smallmouth like them too. x2 on the jitterbug, caught my PB largemouth this past summer as well at 8:30pm. I used an older yellow one, it was a 3/8 size I believe.

google earth your fishing hole
Here's my fishing spot, It's only 2 blocks away from my house, so easy walking/biking distance. The red X is where I stand, and the green rectangle is where I usually catch quite a bit of fish. It also is the exact spot where I caught my PB, a 6Lb 9oz bass.

Trailers for Jigs?
You might be on to something there . I have had some luck with the Gambler Ugly Otter as a jig trailer, fishing these Florida canals. I was kinda hungup on the craw issue also...I've never seen a craw in my fishing areas. The appendage on the Otter is more of a big paddle, rather than claws. I think it fairly closely resembles a sunfish. It's a nice bulky bait that displaces a good amount of water. A nice flippin bait also... Sounds pretty interesting, I'll have to check that thing out. What size of jigs are you using, just out of curiousity? If you know as well as I do, these canals are completely covered EVERYWHERE on the bottom with thick coontail moss. You really have to sight fish the areas for dark open holes, which is when flipping/pitching comes in to play. That is what I am mainly interested in doing now anyways. I was waiting for your reply, since you too live in south Florida and obviously fish it a lot . Maybe I'll try that baby brush hog again, I didn't really give it a fair chance the first time. I always thought to keep the jig trailers sticking out a little bit at the skirt. It looks kinda goofy with all that extra hanging out, but if that's what works, then awesome. Thanks for your tip Eric, I appreciate it.

Trailers for Jigs?
I suppose the chunks are no big deal, I can just order the larger ones and cut those down anyways. Theres only 6 colors offered in the rage chunks (#2,46,50,51,100,102). I did see though however that KVD has pb&j sr and jr chunks.

Trailers for Jigs?
Thanks, I forgot about that color. I'm looking through SK's catalog now and I don't see that color for the rage craw/chunks - is it offered on those?
