  1. I sometimes do something similar to what you're doing, except with baits. I'll use a certain color then switch to something else and wonder why I don't catch anything. Fact is that I just catch more stuff with my other jig because I use it the most. If I used both equally, I would probably catch equal fish. Maybe you're just not using them long enough to give them a chance? Just a thought.
  2. My walmart doesn't carry a whole lot of good stuff. Mainly they carry some rapala cranks, they just got bill lewis rattles, a decent assortment of zoom plastics, mustad hooks, gary yamamoto senkos, and bad colors of strike king spinnerbaits. I wish they would carry rage baits/strike king cranks, but nope. Probably a good thing they don't cause my wallet would probably be a lot lighter.
  3. I was going to, so I mailed Florida DOT to make sure it was alright (the retention pond is owned by them). There's a ton of those down here. They got all huffy about it and said I couldn't...saying some crap like I would distract drivers. What they basically said is that they don't want to be liable for me. I've looked in the pond and it's loaded as well....too bad.
  4. That's exactly what I was thinking. That's exactly what I was thinking. I knew you gentlemen would figure it out . Doesn't matter to me if they're cheap-o, they work for me and that's all I care about. Thanks to everyone for all of their quick responses.
  5. Funny you mentioned Daiwa, I thought it looked sort of similar to that too. I also have another one that's in a different color of green.
  6. Just caught my first ever bass using a lipless crankbait last night. She was around 2 1/2 lbs, decided to give lipless cranks one more shot after I saw an episode of The Bass Pro's KVD showing his techniques for the red eye shad. Just curious who makes this bait, I did a little searching of my own, but couldn't come to a conclusion. It looks like a baby bass pattern to me, but no idea on the maker. Any help from you gurus? 8-)
  7. I use a berkley one I bought at walmart for 20$ (just a plain hook), I think they have one that is a lip grabber for right around 40$ as well. It seems to be fairly accurate as well.
  8. 21...turn 22 march 12th
  9. I've never tried them, but I've heard great things about the GYCB Fat Ika, maybe you can try that one. Me, personally, I would probably use a smaller jig (try a Strike king 1/4oz bitsy bug/flip) with a slow moving trailer attached, such as the Strike King Denny Brauer chunks, but some guys are starting to like more action in colder water, so you can also try the rage chunks. I've had good luck this year on the rage chunks. Weeds shouldn't really be too much of a problem with the jigs, if you feel some weeds on, you can easily shake it loose. I would know, I fish a canal with some of the nastiest coon tail moss you could imagine. Best of luck to you.
  10. Nice, very professional looking.
  11. Lol, It's seriously just a matter of time until this happens to me. I can only imagine your reaction when you saw a gator on your line, haha. When I lived in SoFla, I hooked-up with a little 3ft gator and got him close to the bank before he started thrashing and broke free. I didn't officially "land" him though so he doesn't count.... ;D Lol, thats pretty funny, using braided line I assume? I see little 3ft gators all the time in the canal I fish. As soon as they see the big idiot standing on the bank waving a stick around with line attached to it, they hiss and submerge until they go past me
  12. I thread and superglue mine to the hook.
  13. Pretty interesting bait - what company really brought these into the limelight first?
  14. Lol, It's seriously just a matter of time until this happens to me. I can only imagine your reaction when you saw a gator on your line, haha.
  15. I superglue all my trailers on to the hooks, the catching rate has been the same, so I would say no, it doesn't affect them.
  16. Yup, roland is the pitch master, I spend half the show laughing at the cheesy attempts to hawk a product. I have caught fish off swim senkos, but nothing great like he makes them out to be.
  17. Your resolution might be too high. Use this site: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ Check the "50%" box and the "Good" quality box, and save those and try re-uploading them then
  18. I would probably say the majority of the people on here are all kind people, even if they don't always agree with one another.
  19. That's pretty sweet. Grats on winning, that's pretty cool.
  20. I second that, he seems very hooked! Roby So do big bass, apparently ;D.
  21. Took more than a few minutes, but here's some better pictures .
  22. Yeah, you're right actually. I forgot to turn on the flash. Better pics in a few mins.
  23. Man you must have some pretty unsteady hands, either that or I need some glasses because those pics were so blurry Haha, I knew I was gonna get burnt for that. It's probably my unsteady hands. Hang on a sec, I'll see if I can get some better shots.
  24. Here's my tackle, I have a lot of cranks and things in here I have no idea how to use. Most of them need replacement treble hooks, but I haven't looked around yet for any decent ones. Jigs: -Top 3 are bitsy jigs -Bottom 2 are northstar jigs Cranks/Rattles Side: Besides all of the arbogast frogs, I have no idea how to properly work any of those cranks. I'm really in the dark on these. Most of them, I don't even know what brand they are. They were bought at a garage sale from a gentleman clearing everything out, so I got them cheap. Topwater Side: -A few SK buzzbaits, spinnerbaits -A few jitterbugs, the yellow one is an older one. I have caught a 6lb 9oz bass on it. -I have an Excalibur Spook Jr. also, but it isn't pictured. I have had quite a bit of luck with it. Plastics: -Storm Wild Eye Shiner Minnows, haven't had any luck on these. For some reason, after I use any type of soft plastic, the bait turns a red color within a day or two, probably from the dirty water? -Zoom Horny Toads (Junebug) -Zoom Super Flukes (Baby Bass) -Zoom Baby Brush Hogs (Emerald) -Gary Yamamoto Swimming Senkos (green pumpkin, watermelon), had pretty good luck on these, my first successful swimbait. -Culprit Fire & Ice Worms 7.5", had a lot of luck on these. -Culprit Pumpkinseed 7.5" Worms, had no luck on these. -Culprit Red Shad 10" Worms, absolutely love these, had great luck on these. -BPS Tournament Stick Worms (Bubblegum), had no luck on any type senko knock-offs.
