Chatterbait Questions
It improves the action and can also decide how deep the bait will run, a bit like a crankbait. Basically, the sharper the bend the higher it will ride in the water column.

Why Would Someone Use A Mouse Bait Again?
When I was 5 or 6 I caught a 3 pound largemouth in my grandparents pond. This was when fish were for food for my family, not for fun. My grandma, who is deathly afraid of mice, was filleting this bass and it turns out he had a recently eaten field mouse in his stomach. I don't remember my grandma cleaning any more fish after that.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Flatheads actually grow rather quickly, especially in a warm water environment with abundant food sources like La Cygne. The problem is that it's not a huge lake and it gets fished almost every day of the year. Flatheads have a pretty wide range when they're on the hunt so it's just a matter of time before they cross a baited hook. With a daily limit of 5 per person it doesn't take long to put a dent in the population.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I've caught flatheads up to 42 pounds while fishing for wipers. It gets fished alot for flatheads and they all get kept so it's hard for them to get as huge as they could. The blues get good sized but not like Milford or the Kansas river. Of course it's home to some of the biggest bass in the state too. It's also a very tough lake that doesn't give up any of those fish easily.

Lessons Learned While Driving
Had a run in with a lady looking for the front of the line today. Cut me off, twice, before she got stuck behind a truck that was turning that she didn't notice until she had to slam on her brakes to avoid running into him. I maintained my normal slow and steady speed and ended up a couple cars ahead of her getting onto the interstate before she blew my doors off. I'm always at the front of the line at 4am in the middle of nowheresville, KS headed to the lake

Pflueger Monarch?
Never fished one but if you have an Academy nearby their Mettle baitcaster is a great reel for about $20 more and goes on sale often. I bought mine for $29 a couple years ago and it's still going strong right alongside all my Curados and Lew's.

Medium Heavy Spinning Rod < 50.00
Might check Wal Mart, I picked up a MH/F Vendetta for $30 awhile back. Also DSG's around here has Veritas for $49, that's a tough rod to beat at that price range.

Megabass Orochi Xx Vs St. Croix Ltb Drop Shot
I have the 6' 10" ML/XF LTB and love that rod. It's great for dropshotting as well as grubs, wacky rigs, small jerkbaits, small cranks, and light shakyheads. Never fished the MB but I'm sure they're good rods too.

Chatterbait Questions
I make my own and haven't bought a bladed jig for several years so I can't comment on which bait but color I can try to help out with. I fish all mine with a very slow, steady retrieve, as slow as I can reel while keeping the blade moving. For clear to stained water I like colors like crappie, sexy shad, and a color I call clearwater shad that is just a translucent skirt with flake in it. Also one like War Eagle's Coleslaw is a killer in clear water when it's cloudy. For stained water colors like green pumpkin, black and blue, and bluegill are good. When I get in muddy water I go with black and blue, firetiger, solid black, and black and chartreuse.

Strike King 8.0 Magnum Squarebill
The big bass in most of our lakes target big gizzard shad. I've considered getting the Lucky Craft magnum square bill but haven't talked myself into pulling the trigger on one. I'll be getting a few of these to imitate those big gizzard shad and hopefully be sticking some big ones on them Probably going to have to fish them on my deep cranking rod though.

Anyone Ever Fish With A Snake Type Bait?
I used to fish the Snatrix worms pretty often and did well with them along with the Mann's Augertail snake and Hardnose snake. They all work but I doubt the bass sees them and thinks they're going to eat a snake. Probably just looks like any other worm to them. Lucky Craft makes a 10" snake swimbait that seems to have kind of a cult following.

Re Release Of The Old Wiggle Wart
The colors still suck compared to the old baits though. I have some of both and they both catch fish. New ones are for fun fishing, old ones are for tournaments for me. Here's a side by side of a new vs old wiggle wart in V38 color (green crawdad). Top is the new one, bottom is the old one. Quite a bit of difference in what is supposed to be the same color.

Pompadour
The Heddon Crazy Crawler's wings never gave me any problem, can't imagine this bait would be any different. It may be expensive but it's also a topwater so the chances of losing it are much lower.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
You haven't been paying attention then Olathe has lots of good fish in it, they're just hard to catch. Every one of those was a keeper fish, 18" or longer, and weighed 3 to 4 1/4 pounds That's why it will be on the Thursday night rotation.

What Was The Impact?
Seems to me the fish have stayed shallow all year for the most part around here. I've caught very few deep fish compared to previous years.

Or not..don't know why I didn't think to do a reverse image search in the first place. Wasn't even caught this year and a little weight was added on to it's actual weight http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/2013/04/18/naconiche-record-fish-is-texas-sharelunker-descendant/

Rivermonsters Withdrawl!!!
Monster fish is terrible about putting their clips together. One shot he's fighting a fish on a baitcaster, next it's a spinning reel. The guy on that show is self admittedly not an avid fisherman, so that takes some of it away for me. If they could pair the drama of River Monsters with the science of Monster Fish it would be a great show.
