  1. I killed them down there a couple weeks ago but I'm thinking more like Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock, or Bull Shoals, somewhere that is a little too far for a day trip since I've got a couple days to fish.
  2. I'll give a third vote to the suckers if you really just want to catch one, might not be quite as excited as on artificials but a muskie is still a muskie .
  3. Supposed to be a big warm up on the way next week. I hope they're right because I've got a couple days of fishing coming up just don't have a destination picked yet! ;D
  4. 9 pounder, no question! 3 pounders happen fairly often, 9 pounders are extremly rare around here!
  5. Did a Google search and managed to find a couple pictures of some of the big bass I caught on my first trip to Mexico! It was before I had a digital camera so all my pictures were taken with a 35mm camera and the pictures are in storage somewhere :. Conditions were really tough but the second day I caught a huge (to me) 8 1/2 pounder on a Zoom magnum lizard. The last day I was fishing a Skitter pop and had a monster follow it to the boat. I grabbed my flipping stick with a Zoom magnum lizard and dropped it straight down. I don't know how deep the water was but it was deeper than the two feet my line sank before it stopped. I layed into my PB largemouth that probably would have gone 13 or 14 pounds if it wasn't so dang skinny! Still at 10lbs 2oz it's my PB and only DD bass.
  6. When the guys caught it they admitted it was foul hooked and I believe there was people on the bank watching them also so there wouldn't have been much of a chance to fib about where it was hooked. Lake Dixon is stocked with trout regularly they say and I'm sure Dottie ate more than her fair share of them. She was also reported to be busting at the seams with eggs when she was caught.
  7. I'm far from an expert on muskies but I have caught a few of them. My best baits have been large bass style spinnerbaits, bucktails, and big jerkbaits. Most of my muskies have come off rocky or gravel points with deep water nearby, scattered standing timber doesn't seem to hurt things either.
  8. I carry when I'm by myself all the time and most of the time I'm with someone else. I've run into some pretty questionable people at the ramp and with enjoying night fishing as much as I do I get back at all hours of the night, never know who is wandering around the ramps at night.
  9. I bought the 6' 9" MH when they first came out and wasn't impressed. I kept fishing with it since I'd spent the money on it and it broke a couple weeks ago when I tried to sweep a RES off the bottom on a lift drop retrieve. No damage, nothing but the resistance of the lure pulling the rod, just folded in half. They want $50 to send it in and shipping is another 20. They're discontinued around here for $79, I'm going to save my money for a rod that doesn't have the bad reputation they seem to have.
  10. I would almost always prefer to catch bass since I very rarely eat fish but when crappies that size are biting and I've got a light action rod on the boat I'll take the time to stick some of them 8-).
  11. "I like the Diamond braid because it comes in an obnoxiously bright orange that is the only color I can see anymore." ;D AAAAHAHAHAHA! That was awesome!
  12. I'm sure it worked for you. I've been sprayed a few times at work and it's amazing how well you can breath after you get sprayed, but man that's a heck of a way to clear your stuffed nose up!
  13. Cotton Cordell redfin, only one you'll need 8-).
  14. I'm 99% sure that is a Wal-Mart special Renegade rattle bait that they have in the cardboard boxes laying on the bottom racks for a couple bucks. Couldn't find one in that color online but did find a couple and they look exactly alike otherwise.
  15. Anymore it's just a matter of opinion. I wouldn't get a two piece rod unless I just had to have one to transport it. I feel better about the sensitivity and durability of a blank that is one solid piece instead of two shorter pieces.
  16. I've done really well in the spring with an orange and yellow spinnerbait with one gold colorado blade, must look like a bluegill to them. Fished a tournament several years ago where the only keeper caught all day was on a yellow spinnerbait with one orange and one gold colorado blade, fish was almost 8 pounds too.

  18. I love the Eakins flipping jig for smallmouth. You can catch them on bigger flipping jigs also they just usually aren't around really heavy cover where a flipping jig might be the best choice.
  19. I'd give another vote to the Excalibur rattle baits and another one that has not caught a thing on a rattlin rap. I find them all the time in trees but I just give them away to my brother in law along with all the other baits I find that I have no use for.
  20. I've got some and wasn't very impressed. They seemed to wide across and thin top to bottom with not much to put a hook in.
  21. Any of the Senko style stickbaits are great on shakey heads for a little bigger profile too.
  22. Is that hardgill the one I've seen on TW for 54.99? That sucker better catch fish to spend that kind of money on it. My main concern is one of the lakes I really want to throw it in has a few pike in it. I already have nightmares about fishing LC pointers in there.
  23. I wish it would get up to 34 here!
  24. It's a really good color for night fishing and stained water. It has it's moments in clear water too though. It's one of my favorite colors in Strike Kings Flippin tube .
  25. The king shads do the same thing, I went through 4 of them in one day because of the cold weather and hard wind :'(. It does suck when you lose a bait like that but they do catch fish really well. You don't buy them to sit in your tacklebox and look pretty anyways .
