  1. It looks like a cheap bargain bin popper you'd find a DSG or BPS. Closest thing I can think of is the Gary Yamamoto popper. Discontinued, but you can still find them on Ebay. It's the Black Bone color.
  2. I like popping frogs in stuff like that. You can pop them in those little openings between the slop and let them just sit there, but they'll still come across the thick stuff just fine. The popping pad crasher is my preferred frog.
  3. I make my own so they're ready to fish by the time they go in the box. Never did much trimming on my jigs when I was buying them though.
  4. I like the Eagle Claw Magworm EWG.

  6. Lots of stuff that was made and used in the mid 1900's is no longer in production. I doubt many rods and reels from that era are still in use for every day purposes. I don't think fish populations are much different, but they're probably more difficult to catch thanks to much higher fishing pressure. This is thanks largely to catch and release, which wasn't a thing back then.
  7. They swallow their prey whole. I've had them throw up still live craws, all sorts of baitfish, a baby turtle, bugs, and a salamander, all from down past their throat far enough that I couldn't see them. They don't have any powerful crushers, you can reach into their stomach to remove plastics they've swallowed, there's videos out there demonstrating how to do it if you look for them. Search pulling senkos out of bass.

    Welcome!
  12. They all coexist in many bodies of water across the country without issue. Unless they have just suddenly shown up in the body of water you're fishing like someone has put them there illegally, I wouldn't be concerned.
  13. Gardner was a lot of fun last night. Big bass was a 5.04 but we got the win with our bag.
  14. Not exactly a Beetle spin, but a 2" tube on 1/16oz jighead with a #1 jig spinner arm use to be a bait I fished a lot to catch whatever would bite and I caught a lot of bass on it, some really nice ones too.
  15. Jighead shape doesn't really matter, the mushroom shaped ones just sit nicely on top of the baits. The Zman baits are the way to go imo. A single bag can catch you a couple hundred fish if you're not losing them to snags regularly.
  16. You surely can, probably don't need to go up that high unless you're just not wanting to have to put as much line on the reel though.
  17. Going to depend on your equipment as well. Casting gear will handle 20lb mono fairly well, but it's way too much for spinning gear.
  18. About time for them to be spawning, you were probably near it's nesting area. They're very territorial when they have a bedding area and even more so when they have eggs to guard.
  19. Everything eats them in the Kansas River here. The catfish actually prefer them over shad. Anytime I fish shad, all I can catch are white bass and gar. I've been seeing more big catfish and they're fatter, have to imagine it's because of the carp. There's very few bass in the rivers around here though. They're a hoot to try to shoot out of the air with a bow though.
  20. I don't think I could bank fish in a place I knew there were 10' swamp lizards cruising around.
  21. Pike and bass coexist all across the country without issue, except for the unfortunate angler that loses an expensive bait to the toothy critters. Pike will eat bass, bass will eat pike, but neither is going to eat the other out of a body of water unless it just wasn't the right habitat for them to begin with.
  22. I still carry some inline spinners with me, mainly for the linesides, but I still fish them for bass on occasion. A #2 or #3 Mepp's is still a bass slayer.
  23. It is normal and fishing it with braid is going to increase the sensation. The blade configuration is going to effect how much vibration you feel as well.
  24. If you have a wooden one it will be worth much more than if it's an injected bait. Personally, I'd fish it if it's a wooden bait. I've had the injected baits and they're way too much work to get to walk right.
