Weirdest Thing You've Reeled In
A "I <3 NYC" t-shirt The weirdest part was that I was fishing in Michigan... It made great use after I tore it up for rags.

Chemicals/Scents on hands & how it affects fish
Do you mean to say that wintergreen scent doesnt attract bass? I have wonder the same thing. Especially with plastics since they seem like theyd absorb the scent alot easier. And hand sanitizers and wet wipes just seem like theyd have the same effect as dip or smoke scent. Id be up for trying the toothpaste but...I cant imagine what my friends would think when I open up my tackle box and I have a roll of Crest Ultra White sitting in the bottom haha. But its worth a shot.

dumbest thing you've done while fishing
I have only been fishing for bass regularly for about 2 years. And I dont own a boat so I cant say that I have forgotthe plug.. But Id say the dumbest thing Ive done is sitting down and sleeping on the hookset. "Fish arent biting today..Ill just sit on down and take a load off for a quick second" And wouldnt you know it, almost everytime I get a strike and miss the hookset. Forgetting to wet the line before tying it down tight has also got to be right up there. I dont know how many lures I have seen fly through the air because I didnt wet the knot first and it wasnt tied right. Compared to everyones elses mishaps, Id consider myself lucky. haha

My son thinks I have a problem
This reminds me of the song "Cats in the Cradle" haha I may only be 16, but I see a strong chance of my future being your reality atthe moment. haha, just today, I was at TSC and in the clearence bin they had a 2 pack of Matzuo Phantom Minnows for like $2. I couldnt help myself. Plus....TW and BPS are nice. But we all know thatthe best lures come from the clearence bin at TSC.

Went through my tackle today
I have a 3 tray Flambeau tackle box and a 2 tray Plano that I have filled up. I always try to go through and take out all of the stuff that isnt very productive and that I dont use often but...haha I always have that "what if?" thought in my head and can never bring myself to take it out. I know its dumb but...I just like the feeling of being over prepared for anything.

How to stay occupied before the ice melts???
Yeaaa Id like to get into making my own plastics. Id love to experiment with it and see what would work. But, I havnt found many places that sell molds or the liquid stuff..atleast no where that looks trustworthy. I mean..TW only sells jighead molds and I dont think BPS or Cabelas sells any molds.. But if I do find some where, and I have some extra cash to spend, look for me in the Tacklemaking Fourm

How to stay occupied before the ice melts???
I just looked up on Michigans DNR site that catch and release doesnt legally start until the 3rd saturday of April. But....I think I might throw a few casts out as soon as the ice melts. just to see how my new lures work in the water.

How to stay occupied before the ice melts???
Well, here in southwest Michigan, the lakes are still frozen over. But its to thin to ice fish. The temperatures are hitting the mid 40s and it wont be long before the ice is gone. Roughly 3-4 weeks if I had to guess. Ive restocked and organized my tackle boxes, lubed the reels, and brushed up on my pitching and flipping in the yard. And I think if I try to power cram one more how-to article on spawn fishing, my head might explode. Im so excited to get out on the water and try all the new stuff Ive learned during the winter. But that ice just doesnt want to melt. And Ive tried to keep myself busy with anything I can think of that will help prepare me for a successful spring season. But Im at a loss now..haha Im afraid theres not much more I can do other than to wait for that dang ice to go away. So if you have anything that you like to do when you cant fish..instructional videos...maybe a few more articles..anything that would help get yourself ready for the start of spring and keeps you busy...PLEASE share it with me. haha Thanks a lot guys!

TREBLE HOOKS: What brands do you keep on and which ones do you replace?
The hooks on my Heddon Torpedos are definitaly something to be desired. I have some Eagle Claws I wanna swap them out with but I cant get the hooks off the little screw thing..I hope somebody knows what Im talking about haha. And the hooks on the Red Eye Shads..they are VERY sharp but..they bend SO easy. I swapped out the bent one , but aslong as they arent bent, I dont mind them. And I usually replace the hooks when they lose that "sticky" sharpness. Or if they are starting to rust.

When would you use a Carolina Rig over a Texas Rig?
So would they be more of a mid summer-fall kinda bait? Because they are suspended more towards the bottom?

Prop Baits
Ive fished my Heddon Baby Torpedo with a straight retrieve, and it has put ALOT of fish in the boat. Just pulling it in striaght in. Maybe a pause or two every now and then but nothing too much. And yea, after about 25 fish caught on it, the blades bent pretty good and it wasnt bubbling like it was out of the package. I tried bending them back but...it jsut wasnt like it was right out of the box. So I jsut decided to go out and pick up another one. Its well worth it IMO. That Heddon Torpedo is one deadly topwater..

Am I rigging this trailer right?
Or what if I used the third one and flipped it upside down? So that way its still secured by the trailer keeper and the claws can get a bit more action.
-
Am I rigging this trailer right?
Yea... The third one looked right. But this is the only jig that I have that has that trailer hook thing on it so I wasnt really sure..
-
Am I rigging this trailer right?
I decided to give jigs a try this year and I just wanted to see how other people rigged trailers on them. Heres a few ways I thought might have been it but..I wanted to see what other people though as well. Any help on rigging trailers would be awesome! Thanks guys. I think the third one is right. But...not positive.

strike king red eye shad
Change the hooks out on them. They are very sharp but I found they bend very easily. Just my 2 cents. But other than that, its a great lure and has put A LOT of fish in my boat.

- Best Jig Trailer?
What I cant seem to figure out is HOW to put the trailer on? I have some ZOOM chunks. What side of the trailer tab goes on the hook? Do you have the thick side facing up or the thin side?- Suggestions for hollow bodied tubes?
I buy the purple 3.5 Strike King Coffee scent tubes from my local Meijers. haha They workd GREAT! By far my favorite tube in my box. - Best Jig Trailer?
