  1. Yup, Lancaster PA. I was seriously worried nobody around here likes to fish. But good news on that reel I think its only the cold weather. I was practicing pitching and flipping inside and the anti reverse started working flawlessly. I hope it stays that way.
  2. I just got a Pfleuger Templar from my brother for christmas. Its a good looking reel and sells for 60 at walmart but I went to try it out on the Berkley lighting rod he gave me and let me tell you it is probably worst baitcaster I have used. I only own low end baitcasters (pfleuger criterion and a penn pursuit) but this is by far the worst. For some reason the anti reverse is horribly inconsistent. Is it possible that the anti reverse is defective or are they all like this? If not would I be able to fix it? A baitcaster that randomly winds backwards is completely useless. Its so bad that it even backlashes when I am driving around with it in the back of the car. How? I have no idea.
  3. I always catch and release unless I am going for trout or anything saltwater. Not really sure why I read up because I have never seen a fish and game officer or even heard of somebody getting in trouble.

what kind of eyes are those? I want to put some new eyes on my normals because the stock ones are awful
  7. Try using a spook or walk the dog type topwater along the banks of these lakes. I use this to search for the fish on new lakes, even if the fish miss you at least have know where they are.
  8. I always tell them bass arent good eating. Which as far as i know is true. I tried to eat bass one time and it tasted like butt....If the other reasons arent good enough for them this one usually convinces them
  9. I had the opportunity to hand feed a 5 lbs+ wild largemouth live crayfish. So let me tell you they love crawdads. He also wouldnt bite anything I threw at him the next day. > Of course I didnt try any plastic craws that would have been unfair.
  10. How would you/do you fish a small size quarry? I have been fishing at small to medium sized quarry out of a row boat and I have been struggling to find effective techniques. The banks are choked with weeds and its difficult to find a definite bottom because there are a ton of weeds. I have caught a few bass on small minnow cranks and the biggest on a chrome rattlin rap, but nothings been working. I know there are some huge fish in here because I have seen them jumping, but I just cant seem to catch them. Any advice?
  11. I know I know they are all pretty awesome (thats an understatement) but I just have a hard time swallowing that PRICE!!! I have jumped in, and climbed some trees for rapalas I dont even want to know what I would do if I had one of those 50-80 dollar guys break off. :D
  12. Any reasons why? or were the mattlures just more productive?
  13. anybody tried the tru tungsten bluegill swim bait? or any of their of their other swim baits for that matter?
  14. So more or less on a whim I bought one of those bright orange carrot stix the other night from basspro when they had one of those free shipping deals. It wasnt too pricey and I had heard good things about it. My question is whats the general consensus about these carrot stix? I got the 6'6" in medium power because I heard these run a little stiff.
  15. zoom trick worm and a 5'' senko
  16. There are at least 15 natural/dark colors!!!
  17. What are your guys favorite sweet beaver colors? They make so many different colors of this lure I cant even think straight and make a decision. :)
  18. I learned to fish plastics on these and let me tell you they are amazing! I t-rig them weightless on spinning outfit. Just cast it out there and right before it hits the water pull the rod tip back to give it some slack before you flip the bail so it falls naturally to the bottom. It will fall nice and slow giving it a lot of time in the water column. Once it reaches the bottom let it sit for 10 seconds and twitch/drag/even reel it back in it will catch stuff any which way. In order to detect bites you will have to watch the line like a hawk. Typically they will strike on fall and your line will take off in a different direction. When this happens reel in the slack and set the hook. In water where the food competition is fierce these little buggers will catch large bluegills and crappie. They are a great time. When fishing in ponds I go through a pack in 4 hours.
  19. Thats pretty funny. Not trying to be a downer but catching birds is pretty common place when fishing with plugs in saltwater. I have heard of guys catching more gulls than fish. I personally have only caught one and the bird seemed to understand that I was just trying to help. He just watched me pull the hook out of foot and flew off.
  20. stay away from those clackin raps I have two and I have caught nothing on either of them (olive green, and some crawdad color). Other than those I catch stuff on just about all of them. Almost all my cranks are Rapala. I also really like the smaller sized skitterwalk in the bluegill pattern. No matter where I fish it I always catch big quality fish.

they work really well t-rigged weightless. I just let em sink then twitch them back. Heck I even let my girlfriend (never fished before) try them out and she caught a bigger fish in 15 mins that I did all day. Wacky rigging works well too but I seem to catch only dinks.
  22. Its probably just me or the lure, but I have the sure sets on the smaller clackin raps and I havent caught anything and I mean nothing on either of them. I always end up going back an old chrome rattlin rap and catch more with that.
  23. Goal number one: Catch a double digit bass. Pond Boss says that 1 out of every 20 something million bass reach this size so I think that would be pretty amazing to catch a big ol bucket mouth like that. Goal Number two: enjoy fishing as much as possible I think I meant to switch that order, oh well, they both work 8-)
  24. You just left it out there? There have been a few times that I jump in and swim out there to get my poppers and cranks back. Sometimes thats half the fun! :D
  25. I had this exact thing happen to me 3 or 4 times when fishing smallies in NH. Must be something in the water up there. It did give me a good reason to untangle that backlash in a hurry though.
