  1. That is a nice fat 7 pounder. I bet its still growing, too.
  2. wow, bass fishing in the pines, i'm jelous! My pictures always have suguaro cactus in the background lol... those are some of the nicest looking smb i have seen yet. very nice color.
  3. and just my opinion, but if you can get some crappie, striper or white bass, they taste better than lmb.
  4. At least gut them before you call it a night. You can filet them in the morning if you keep them on ice.
  5. I'll mostly use 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and sometimes even 3/4 or 1 oz on a C-Rig or fishing really deep. Wind and depth determine what I am going to use. most of the time I choose as small of a weight as possible to still feel good contact with bottom.
  6. It's sounds like you must have deep pockets 8-) if you are just getting into it, I wouldn't dump all that money into a reel. Get yourself a rod, reel, tackle, storage, etc. first.
  7. You can usually find the "pig" on the bottom shelf in a jar. Uncle Josh makes some. Most people I know use soft plastic instead though.
  8. Wow, great fish. You have some confidence in those big baits! Those are some good looking baits.
  9. Nice work. I like the extended handle. Out of curiousity, what does it cost to make one of these by the time you get everythign you need?
  10. Texas rigged is hooking a worm up with a hook and bullet weight in front. As salt injected worms have become more popular (i.e. Senko), people have started to throw them the same way , without the sinker. the salt in the lure will cause it to sink wihtout weight. Also, jerkbaits are most often hooked up this way.
  11. nice fish, thanks for taking such good care of it!
  12. Agreed...almost looks like a lmb
  13. Man, that is a beautiful, healthy fish. Good job, thanks for sharing!
  14. My experience has been that letting a senko sit in the sun in a bent manner, you are going to get less shimmy action to it. That being said, I could probably believe it if he told you that he gets better action by leaving them sitting in the sun and they are not getting bent. The sun could possibly be heating the plastic up, making it softer, which could aid in the shimmy action.
  15. I'd just recommend that you bury the tip of the hook into the senko if you plan on throwing it in and arround any cover (which I recommend).
  16. I usually don't fish deeper than the thermocline.
  17. I usuallyuse them in spring, but I've been known to drag a few in the summer. I like to let the wind catch my boat and throw them out on a c-rig. I think it's an excellent bait to drag.
  18. If this happens to me a couple trips in a row....I come back to bassresource and read the seasonl articles ont eh homepage. Seomtimes I pick up on something there that works for me the next time I go out.
  19. In pressured waters, I downsize and slow down. Pressured to me though, on that size lake is a tourny on Saturday and Sunday with 100+ boats for each. Pus add in a bunch of recreational boats and PWCs.
  20. I'd personally wait until the water cools this fall. Problem with water in the 80s and 90s is that the oxygen will be gone real fast.
  21. A tip: If the bass swallows your hook and you are not going to be able to get it back without causing injury to the fish....just cut your line as close to the hook as possible and release the fish this way. There is a good chance the bass will pass the hook on it's own. On the other hand, if you are yanking away at the hook and ripping their throat open, it will likely die.
  22. Keep the prop down. Also, if you have any extra weight sittin gin the backof the boat, throw it up front.
  23. nice work. I've never caught a peacock bass. I'm jelous!
  24. Problem when the water temp gets that high is lack of disolved oxygen. Fish in and around the thermocline. Use your graph to locate the thermocline. If you don't have a graph, ask a local bait shop for tips on where it is in your lake. We are fishing 88-90 degree water here in AZ now.
  25. If it was just hooked in the flesh and no vital organs or gills or anything, it should make a full recovery. It may get a scar from it.
