  1. Jig Fisherman, So since I was able to feel long stretches of what felt like pea gravel with my 1/4 ounce drop shot weight right next to the corner of the point and was able to see large "chunk rock" along the bank of the point when the water level was down in the summer....... would that be a underwater point because of the gravel I felt at the end underwater?
  2. What type of point is this? Secondary or main? And how would you fish it....... there is a bunch of pea gravel towards the end of it, I discovered it today drop shotting.
  3. What I meant was something like a hook that increases your landingor hook up ratio......... Stuff like that..... I'm not looking for a magic lure
  4. Does anybody think that there is any New tackle that will give you an edge in competition that came out in 2009-2012? I want to find an "edge" or advantage for the 25 tournaments I will be fishing in 2012
  5. Say with 8 pound fluorocarbon on a spinning reel with a 7 foot Medium action rod wacky rigged with a light wire 2/0 or 3/0 offset hook for bass up to 2 pounds
  6. How hard of a hook set for senkos?
  7. How many bass did you catch this year?
  8. I have a few questions when it comes to dead stickin senkos: - Does it work in shallow water for cruising fish - Does it work in a grass bed on the bottom - What season is the best time to dead stick - Do you need to see the fish crusing in shallow water before you dead stick? - Do you guys use scent when your dead sticking? - Whats the deepest you will dead stick? - Why does it seem like Dead sticking only works for Hybrids and Stripers? - Would something that floats up, like a Elaztech Zero be better? - Why does something with almost no movement appeal to bass? - Is it important to have a color bait that stands out on the bottom when dead sticking
  9. Do Senkos work in cold water?
  10. Anyone ever try dead sticking a 5" Senko in Clear, shallow water grass in the fall?
  11. Well, I caught a 1.53 lb. largemouth that was 14.5 inches at about 9:45 a.m. deadsticking a Watermelon/chartreuse laminate 5" senko, that was the only bite of the day for me. I fished from 7 to 11. I threw spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, senkos......... But only 1. I was fishing from shore, but the guys in the boats who went uplake to the Dam and threw a senko brought back 3 and 4 pounders that ended up filling the top 2 places. I focused on shallow wate mainly. I only saw 1 bass crusing the shallows the whole morning. I Tried coves with pads and shallow water docks and flats. The one bass I did catch was from one of the fishing plat forms and one of the guys I talked to said that most bass he either heard or saw being caught from shore were in super skinny water. I tried skipping senkos under docks..............
  12. I think the one bass i missed was the one I caught later on
  13. What size and color line should I use? I was out today and caught one that was about 1.25 pounds on the edge of a shoreling gras bed using 12 pound bright green monofilament on a 6'6 Medium action rod with spinning gear.......... Do i need heavier tackle and what other types of cover is good to wake a spinner bait with? Anyone ever catch a big bass doing this? Also, Today I had a bass turn and wake head on for my spinnerbait but missed it....... What should i do in this situation?
  14. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Assortment-16-lures-workbench-Tom-Mann-obtained-his-estate-/230677902820?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b57975e4 Thinking about bidding, but don't know if there real
  15. And: - Bluegills can be had almost anywhere along shoreline - brush piles & beaver dams around the edges of the lake (There's a big one just to the right of the ramps, about 50' from the shore, which is visible.)
  16. Piney run Park Details: - Artificial structures were placed in close relation to fishing piers - Water clarity can be defined as clear. - Overabundance of vegetation hindering boating and fishing strategies during the summer and fall time periods. - Surface area of 298 acres - Earthen Dam - They have a couple of docks to fish from and you can walk the trail to the left of the general store, in front of the docks. - It's not very deeps and in the summer the weeds make it impossible to fish. - ton of sunk xmas trees and cinder blocks
  17. Ok, So this morning I decided to go try my newly purchased 1/4 ounce Silver little George at the half acre pond by my house. When I got there There were what looked like small bass busting and boiling on very tiny silver baitfish (there are no shad in the pond) in abut 6 feet of water out in the middle, the funny thing is that the bass did not keep busting and boiling in the same spot, it was all over the middle of the pond and happened every minute or so and the boils were probably 5 to 7 feet away from the last boil, some of the boils were subtle and you could not hear them and some were a wee bit louder on the surface and happened very quickly..... I only fished a half an hour and this happened the hole time I was fishing and is probably still happening. The boils never happened in the same place twice and when the bass or whatever it was made the boil bubbles went along with it. In the 30 minutes I was there I counted 25 boils. I tried burning my little geprge by throwing it past the boil and letting it fall where the bass busted, and I tried doing the same thing slow rolling it, and I tried burning it and slow rolling it towards the top of the surface as well, but not a strike. Any suggestions?
  18. Once when I was fishing with a friend with live bait we saw a BIG bass Swimming and suspending slowly in the water and kind of brought it over towards the shore and finally It went under a clump of grass and just sat there and we decided to try to scoop it up with a net and when I Waded in the water and did, it was pretty much dead, Its gills were a VERY light pink and it died immediately it was 16.5 inches and 3.50 pounds
  19. What rod/line Combo for fishing CC. Spoon 3/8 ounce? Whats a good pound test and rod length? and whats a good pound test for a Mann's Little george tail spinner thats 1/4 ounce? Would these lures work around the months of september and october
  20. Ok, I just found out I'm taking 8 scouts, 4 have rods
  21. Hey Guys, As you may Know I'm a boy scout (Almost eagle scout) and Last thursday night one of my leaders who is also a cub scout den leader asked me to take his den fishing, I think its mostly 4th and 5th graders in the den. I'm taking them to some ponds a few blocks away from my house. The thing is I have no clue if they all have fishing rods that are spincasters, I have 8 spinning reels that I'm willing to lend to the. Also, I have a LOT of soft plastic and a lot of 3 and 4 inch senkos that I'm willing to make "Goody bags" with with a few hooks and a spool of line ( I have 8 110 yard berkley Fluorescent blue line), But I'm wondering if I should let them use night crawlers. Here were some of the things I was thinking of doing with them: - Go about 30 minutes early and catch a few small bluegill, carp, and catfish to use as examples. - Talk about what freshwater fish specie live in the ponds - Hold a Q&A session - Have a period of time where the kids can "Trade" baits from there Goody bags -Talk rods, reels, lines, lures (Just the basics) - Practice tying knots It's going to run about 1 to hours..................
  22. Well, this year I got stuck with the disciplinarian as my Chemistry teacher, He's 52 and is a Vegan and is one of the TOUGHEST, and meanest cross country coach ever according to my friends. He absolutely hates any sort of fishing, even if it is catch and release And insists that he learned with his biology major that fish feel pain and that he should stick a hook in my mouth and ask me how it feels............ I tried showing him a scientofic study I found on Google scholar and out it on his desk and he read the title and said "get this crap off my desk" and then started going on and on about how that article was covering up for what fisherman are doing to bass.......
  23. I know there meant for the Drop shot, but jas anyone tried them with a senko weightless, I would think it would keep the bass from throwing the senko
  24. One time I was mixing up a thing of Garlic scent with a spoon and I set the spoon down and 20 minutes later I used it to eat applesauce and all I tasted was a mouthful of garlic and salt!
  25. A buddy of mine told me that many pro's on both trails run their own business......... Which ones?
