  1. What I mean is I find all Shakespeare's plays, Chaucers stories, and all the short stores boring- the grammar doesn't bother me- I'm great with grammar. I Just like writing, analyzing Poems and plays is really no fun for me
  2. I Just got a great idea from Keith Sutton, Public relations
  3. I don't like all the classical stuff, I don't reading the British writers, All I really want to do is learn to write! Thats what I meant.......
  4. Hi everybody, I recently talked to Don Barone and he advised me NOT to major in journalism in college and to minor it, SO I'm taking his advice. The problem- I don't want to major in. I have a mild learning disibility in math and math based sciences, and am in Algebra 2 currently as a junior. I know one thing for sure- I want to be in the bass fishing industry in some way. My strength is writing. I'm OK in science, but I don't love it nearly as much as I do writing. Any ideas on what I could/should major in? I live in MD, but want to go down south for college (preferably Florida). I have "business sense"- my parents say I do business naturally, and I love starting new businesses. Before I discovered writing, i wanted go into Advertising/Marketing (Like Mike Iaconelli)- BUT that was when I wanted to be a pro angler. I'm the type of person where I like to lead instead of "being lead". I'm working up finishing up my Eagle Scout project- I will be recieving the award by this spring Sometime. Any suggestions what I could major in, without requiring any math? I'm not an artsy or "creative person" either (though I love designing lures). Writing comes easy to me, and I love interviewing people. I'm not big on the "nitty gritty" of the english language, I love to read (nonfiction), and I love to write
  5. Anyone know where I can find some?
  6. Lost my only hair jig- just ordered more
  7. I was out on the lake by my house today and the water was muddy, and I was catching bass out of a foot of water around fallen branches, stumps, sticks, etc. I was getting bit not deep, but right up against the bank around this cover. I was using a black marabou hair jig with a purple pork chunk on the back of the jig. I'd hop the jig along the bottom and the line would swim off or I'd feel a tick, this happened 3 or 4 times- I only landed 1 of them which turned out to be a chunk 3/4 to 1 pound largemouth that was hooked right through the top of the mouth. Any suggestions how long this pattern will hold up? It was 43 degrees today and I fished from 1-2. The one bass I did catch had a bright red tooth patch on the roof of its mouth, any suggestions what these bass could be up this shallow and tight to the bank, be doing?
  8. Bruce and I have been emailing each other, he's given me a lot of great advice
  9. I have a biography and photo on this page http://www.bassquestmagazine.com/?p=33
  10. I already read and subscribe almost every bass fishing magazine out their I know I’m not going to get rich, I’m making $75-120 per article I’m writing now, and am not getting paid from Bassin’ and Crappie World I have already sent queries to magazines like the Louisiana Sportsman and FLW, and even had one accepted by the editor of the Louisiana Sportsman I am currently getting a 17-megapixel camera for Christmas and will be taking a digital photography class in my second semester of junior year. I do plan on going to College and at least having a minor in journalism-, I am not sure where yet, but I live in MD. I’ve sent my articles to various editors, and did that a lot in my first 2 or 3 months of writing for Bassin’ and Crappie World and got a lot of great advice. I know one thing for sure; I want to be in the fishing industry no matter what I do. If you would have asked me what I wanted to go to college for a year ago, I would of said Advertising. I have had rejection, and honestly, it really has not phased me at all, I just keep on going. I have also talked to Matt Pehanic Rich Zaleski, and both of them have read over my articles, and have given me great advice that I have incorporated into my articles. I am currently taking a full year course of British Literature in my junior year, and next year I will be taking courses in Creative Writing, Journalism, and the yearbook course in addition to my other classes. I currently just got my second set of PSAT scores and scored 76% higher than the rest of the juniors in the country in the Writing section, and scored 67% higher in the Critical reading section. I do fish bass tournaments and have been since I was 14 in 2009, and have been fishing since I was three years of age. I’ve interviewed pros such as Guy Eaker, Tommy Martin, Shaw Grigsby, Andrew Upshaw, and Matt Herren. I don’t like to write necessarily about what I personally know about, I’ll pick out a topic to write about and find 3-4 pros to interview for it, a lot of the things I write about I don’t have independent experience with. I have read Homer Circles book, and almost every bass fishing book out their
  11. Thanks guys I'm really not that discouraged honestly I used to want to go pro tournament fishing, but soon realized I could have the best of both worlds by writing aboit the pros I wanted to be like and interview them and ask them questions that were on my mind. I've talked to writers like John Neporadny, Don Barone, Ken Duke, Robert Montgomery, and Terry Battisti and have been doing so since this past summer, and they've all given me feedback and advice along with do's and don'ts- I've come along way since this past June I'm currently writing articles for Bassin', Crappie World, Bass Angler, Bass Quest, and will soon be writing for Bass East. I'm going to Icast in 2013 as well for Bassin' I've learned so much from editors such as Mark Lassagne on what a quality picture is for print and what those pictures should contain in them. I've always wanted to "be my own boss" I'm the type of person where I like to lead instead of being lead. I just recently got in touch with Tom Leogrande and will be writing articles for his new magazine, Bass Quest, and I have the ability to interview pros like Skeet Reese, Randy Howell, Brent Chapman, and any other elite or FLW pro I want to do an article on.
  12. And I have business cards and am going to ICast next summer with a media pass
  13. I I'm writing for Bassin', Crappie World, Bass Quest, and Bass Angler. Only 2 pay me- I get between $75-120, I write for free for the rest
  14. Is there a career in fishing journalism/freelance writing? How do you make it?
  15. I'm holding a charity tournament at my school and we have run into a problem, we are trying to find a cost effective, but accurate way of weighing bass in the tournament. Would a food/kitchen scale work? What would work that's cost effective?
  16. Hey Everyone, I recently brought up the idea for a school/community wide bass tournament at my school to the events planner who went and got it approved by the administration. I'm trying to find a company that will donate T-Shirts for the events, anyone know of any either tackle companies or other companies that might sponsor it or help? Dear.... I'm writing you for your support for Our Lady Of Good Counsel high school's first annual Falcons of fishing tournament on May 18, 2013 which will take place on Lake Needwood here in MD. This is the first year of the tournament and we are looking for sponsors for the tournament. If you decide to become a sponsor, your companies logo will be featured in a hand out which will be given out on the day of the tournament. Here is a list of what a sponsor of the tournament could contribute: T-Shirts Product for prizes/give aways Gift cards Plaques Hats Our biggest goal is to be able to have T-Shirts for all who participate in this event due to the fact that it will serve as something participants can take home with them after the event. Whatever you could contribute would be very much appreciated. This tournament will draw alumni, students, parents, and other community members. There will be several opportunities for your company's logo and the name of your company to be exposed. There will be anglers of all skill levels and ages at this tournament. Thank you for your time
  17. I'm doing an article series on cross over baits/techniques. In the winter issue I had musky baits for bass, the next one is walleye baits for bass
  18. How's does the action of walleye baits compare to bass baits? How does the color section of walleye baits compare to the colors of bass baits? How do the designs of walleye baits compare to bass baits? Why do bass eat walleye baits? Do bass and walleye school together? What's the biggest difference between bass and walleye baits? Is one more durable than the other? Are walleye baits better for cold water? What types of cover are walleye baits designed to go through? In terms of size, how do walleye baits compare to bass baits? Do brighter color baits work as well on bass as they do on walleye?
  19. Anyone ever catch bass on walleye lures? Which ones and what colors? What lake were you on? Why do bass like walleye lures?
  20. How fast do these jig heads fall, how many feet per second for each size? Fall rates for 1/16, 3/32, 3/16, 1/32 ounce jig heads
  21. I'm up at my grandmothers house in PA right now and will be going out tomorrow to the East Branch dam which is part of the Clarion river. My grandparents live right above State College- close to Dubois PA. I should be getting on the water around 12 and staying 4-5 hours, but will be fishing off the docks by the boat ramp and from shore by the dam on both sides. I was there in the beginning of July and caught 3 smallmouth that were tiny on a slider head. The reservoir has a lot of rock with miles of Rocky shoreline and large boulders 5-6 feet offshore with the occasion stump or two among the boulders. The water crystal and cold, it's a cold water reservoir so it stays cold all year long. One problem is the water is extremely low because they're working on the dam. The water by the dock I'm fishing I'm told is extremely deep. Any suggestions on what I should throw, all I brought were flukes, lizards, and grubs and several different sized and color mushroom heads. The Walmart here has a pretty good selection as well. Happy thanksgiving
  22. But can't that bag be thrown around? It doesn't protect your phone too much
