  1. How did it work out? How big were the bass you caught on it?
  2. How different are his older editions from the 1980s to the 2008 edition? Is there any info from the 80s edition that they took out? I have the 2008 editiion, AND LOVE ROLAND MARTIN. But I want some more info on some of the older techniques he talks about
  3. Anyone still fish the Old johnson Silver Minnow? I just read about it in Roland Martin's book, does I really catch big fish? Will smaller fish be able to eat a 1/2 ounce spoon? How does it compare to a frog?
  4. I have a Big fish tournament at a local reservoir tomorrow from 6 A.M. to 12 P.M. and it's for the biggest overall bass. My concern is that it's supposed to be 81 degrees for the high and I'm concerned how far I should go on the lake if I'm on foot and happen to catch a big fish and how I should take care of it and keep it alive until I get to the weigh station at the concession stand. I'm considering just fishing around the weigh in, there are boat docks, lily pads, and piers right in front there. Should i take the chance and go far on foot, or should I stay close? I have weigh in bags from BPS, But i also have a large orange home depot bucket I can take. You can weigh in fish all day, there is no set time, they always have the scale open. Any suggestions?
  5. How can I add a skirt to a Johnson Silver Minnow?
  6. Anyone try them? I just got 30 of them...

  8. How many jigs do you own?
  9. First, let me say this, I'm not the one that would EVER think about throwing live bait, BUT after reading Roland Martin's book and the live bait section. I have a Big bass tournament from shore at a reservoir for the biggest bass and there are NO rules concerning what you can and cannot use, so I want to try live bait, any tips?
  10. How big does a bass have to be to survive low water and heat? I've always heard the biggest and strongest survive..
  11. I think I worded it wrong, lol. I want to punch for bass in mats that have Bluegill suspended in the mat.
  12. SLIDE THROUGH THE WATER FOR COOL WATER SLAB CRAPPIE By P.J. Pahygiannis How would you like to catch crappie weighing two pounds or more this fall? How would you like to pull slab crappie out of that nasty cover on your home waters? Jackie Melton, owner of Arkansas Jigs (www.arkansasjigsbyjack.webs.com), says fall is the perfect time to catch slab crappie from heavy shoreline cover on lakes and rivers. “When fishing rivers, the blackberry, grapevines and root wads vary from about one to 10 feet deep,” Melton said. “They are usually in and around eddy pockets or slack water just out of the current. The vines hang on the tree as it falls into the water. It makes a hiding place for baitfish and draws the crappie,” Kentucky Lake crappie guide and founder of the Legends of the Outdoors National Hall of Fame, Gary Mason has been throwing Charlie Brewer Crappie Slider Grubs on Kentucky Lake for slab crappie more than twenty years. “Stake beds and brush piles are some of the tightest cover I consistently fish the Slider Grub in. However, I have fished this bait around logs and floating debris during high water here on Kentucky Lake."
  13. Where can I buy a thermometer like that?
  14. How dark is it under a thick algae mat? How long does a bass have to stay under the mat to turn black in color? And What does it mean when your catching really light colored bass out of the grass? And in the summer, it seems like some of my bites are from bass laying close to the bottom or even on the bottom around scattered grass, anyone ever see this?
  15. What lure should I punch through the mat with when I know there are bluegill suspended in it? I'm talking decent sized bluegill, they kind of look grey with chartreuse tails to me when I'm looking at them in the water.
  16. I have to the miss the morning bite on the pond, I have an Idrivesmart class untill next Friday, and that goes from 10 to 1:15, So I've been getting out on the water from like 3:15 to 5. The deepest to my knowledge is 5-6 feet, both out in the middle, and by the spillway. The Pond is a run off pond so it is VERY dirty (not muddy) and its silty. And the majority is covered by a field of moveable grass/algae clumps (They move with the wind). Even the bluegill are suspended around these clumps There is no shade on the pond, and it is an oddly shaped pond as well. The water to human touch, is pretty cold, and so is the creek that runs next to the pond. I went out late yesterday afternoon and by the time I got to the bigger pond, I had only one bite at the other pond. I went and a pitched a small, light weight Booyah skirted finesse jig with the weed guard trimmed and the skirt shortened and the hook sharpened as well, then I took a Blue craw colored Paca craw chunk and dipped the claws in Blue JJ's and glued it to the back of the jig, which made the bait fall REALLY slowly. I pitched it in between two grass clumps and I felt a strange bite, so I set the hook, felt the fish move a little, and then assumed he got off, then he started moving through the closest grass bed next to me, and I got him pinned to the bank, saw his head, and THE LINE SNAPPED (14 pound P-Line)
  17. Since its such a small pond, these fish get so used to baits, I threw a senko a lot last year, now they won't touch senkos
  18. And here is one type of bait fish that lives in the pond
  19. Honestly, I know the proccess will be really sickening, but I think its a small price to pay to find out what these fish have been eating, and mimicking the forage is key for me. I'm trying to be more scientific and analytical as a angler, There are catfish, carp, bluegill, and I believe golden shiners
  20. Will bass get into skinny water dead cattail stalks in the summer, and whats the best bait for them,?
  21. I mean Iaconelli says that if it's belly is squishy, its eating "soft grade fish", but he calls shad a soft grade fish and there are no shad, whats another example of a soft grade fish? What type of soft grade fish live in ponds?
  22. On 1 acre ponds with no current what so ever , and really no "deep" areas, where do the bass go?
  23. I guess I used the wrong word, I'm not trying to hurt the bass my any means, and im not literally squeezing it, i'm just touching to see if I can feel bluegill, crawfish, etc
  24. Mike Iaconelli Does it To figure out what there feeding on.
