KVD's sponsors products?
Most of the time the companies that don't get the respect they need and want to keep making money will pay people such as KVD allot more then the other companies will that are already doing fine in there field in hopes to bump sales up. Often even if the product is not great the person will stay with that sponsor to get a paycheck. Look what KVD has done for Strike King once a mainly spinner bait company, now they sell millions on crankbaits. They know for the most part there success has been based around KVD so he is worth the money. And in return he doesn't go else where because Strike King etc. is paying him so much. Plus who is to say that KVD isn't using a totally different blank rod then the one he sales. He could have the company custom make ones that look just like the ones that are at BPS etc. Im with you Nitro's are fine, often we think the product makes us, but its not the product it's the guy or women fishing it and there ability to find fish.

Does anyone pore this mold? "Shakey head"
I would love to buy these in bulk and paint them myself. I loose so many on the rivers and the price adds up! Even if the style is close I would like to check it out if you sell these.

KVD 2011
I think he will throw some kind of deep diving crank that is not out yet. Strike king will release the bait very soon, but not in the color he plans on using. That way everyone will go out buy the lure in all the colors he didn't use, and once the hype settles down they will release the winning color (Just like last year). But who knows what Strike King has up there sleeves. All I can say is I will not get the "Classic Bug" this year and go purchase 1,000 of the winning bait, like I did last year with the Red-Eye shad! Ah then again I probably will, there's always a need for "Morelures".

H20 Xpress and Lucky Craft crankbaits same blank molds?
Thanks for taking the time and posting these photos. And I think the most important thing we got from this thread would be the same thing my mom would always tell me. It's not what's on the outside that matters, but what's on the (INSIDE)

H20 Xpress and Lucky Craft crankbaits same blank molds?
Yeah I understand where both sides are coming from when it comes to people thinking that one company might be the same as another, because there are allot of brands out there that just market there products as a high end product when in reality they are not. Not all but most people tend to think just because something is more expensive it is better (sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't). Businesses know that consumers respond in this way, and will often mark a product up just to make it look better then it really is. This is why I like to do allot of research before I buy something. But I rather buy a crankbait that is going to run true out of the box 90% of the time. Instead of buying 5 cheaper crankbaits that are not going to run correctly and that I have to worry if while im throwing it in a tourney for an hour if the lure is putting the correct vibration out or if im just wasting my time. In the end the cheaper cranks will still add up to be more money after you weed through the duds. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos, sounds like a great idea. Wonder what's inside, well let's go inside!

Thanks whittler for the facts. Do you have any photos of a split H2o or a Lucky Craft? I would be interested in seeing any split cranks you may have.

H20 Xpress and Lucky Craft crankbaits same blank molds?
I have heard that H20 uses the same blank as Lucky Craft for some of there crankbaits. Does anyone know this for a "fact"?

The perfect Lure
You have me sold on this "majic fat Ika" R.W. Just what I need "MoreLures"..haha I wonder if this bait is too big for the rivers??? Seems as if smaller baits produce better in the rivers.

whats the best kvd cranking rod size for throwing...
The med feels pretty stiff on this rod (Not bad but just a little stiffer them most "M" rated rods). The MH is real stiff. If you are torn I would go with the M. I went to BPS the other day to check them out. The rod just felt a little too stiff all around for me. I would say even the M 7ft in this model would be ok in the grass. Normally I would say MH for grass, but since there is no industry standard on rod ratings each company is going to be different for the most part. And the M feels more like a MH. I really dont know what to think about this rod I was in BPS for 3 hours checking out rods and reels and for some reason this rod just felt cheap. But from reading articles on KVD he likes his cranking rods stiffer than most people. Even though I don't personally like it, that dude is the master at throwing cranks, so I may try one out. Yup the marketing guys got me again! I often wonder if he is really using the same rod that they sell to the public...

Quantum tour KVD Crankin Rod?
Anyone have this Rod? I was thinking about checking it out. I want to buy a Crankin rod that will cover my shallow and Med depth cranks. And if I throw a Deep Diver it will still feel ok. I was thinking about getting the 7'm. I dont throw deep divers that often.

Favorite Shakey head rod? To spend the money or not?
I am not big on spending a ton of money for the top dollar rod and reels. But I often wonder if I'm missing out, and not feeling soft bites based on the rod im using. I'm debating on giving in and trying out one of the G-Loomis Shakey heads rods since I throw that bait often. I'm not concerned about fighting the fish more about the sensitivity of the rod. Has anyone made a similar change like this, and if so what did you think? As of now im throwing a 7ft med action BPS Carbonlite with a Shimano Sahara on 8lb flr. carbon and seem to be doing fine. But once again I'm always wondering if I'm missing out... I guess the main question would be, is there really a big difference in a BPS carbonlite rod or any rod in that price range compared to a G-Loomis rod. I'm sure there is but what are the facts supporting it?

Paca Craw presentation
I can't say anything about the Rage tails because I haven't used them. But I love the Paca baits! As stated above the slightest little twitch gives the claws a very natural look. Slow rolled on the bottom with a ¼ pegged weight texas style will really get the claws moving. Even though they already have a scent I like to get some type of real good craw scent and let them soak in that for a while. My buddy sells 100% ground up crawfish in a bottle. To me the fish just hold onto it longer when I do this. I also like to fish the paca on vertical structure such as a bridge, use a heavy weight to get the claws flapping on the fall (trying to cause a re-action strike) Keep your reel disengaged and control your line with your thumb so you get a vertical fall. Allot of times they will hit it on the fall. This can be tricky depending on how they hit it. Sometimes they will crush it. Another time you may just feel the bait stop before it should. And another time the fish will suck it in and just swim off with it. Either way quickly engage your reel drop your rod tip for a second and set the hook hard! ***.com has them on sale for $1.99 (I do not work for them in anyway) just thought this was a good price for anyone looking. Go to youtube.com and check out some of the tank test's they do, this will really give you a feel for what your bait is doing under water. Good Luck!

revo sx vs. stx
Sean I was only comparing the bearings, weight, drag power, line cap, and Line rec on the Sx and Stx. (Maybe I should have stated this) But he never asked about the "premier". Didn't read the rest of the postYou will love the STX that you ordered!
-
revo sx vs. stx
I heard that Abu Garcia does not use the same manufacture that they use to and that the parts are not the same anymore. Not sure how true this is. One of the guys at BPS told me this. But you might want to check into this. Besides that I love my Stx but I bought it a while ago. And to answer your question: The only difference is you loose only 5 yards of 12lb test on Sx compared to the STX (not worth the extra $30.00 to me). And the SX is actually .3 oz's lighter. I would go with the Sx and save $30.00

Whats the best combo you buy for $200-$250 or under?
It can be a baitcaster set-up you use or spinning combo. It also doesn't have to be sold as a "combo" it can be any reel and rod you like to buy together for under $250. I really like the BPS Carbonlite baitcasting combo for $169.98 for the 6'6 or $179.98 for the 7'. That comes with there Carbonlite reel. Pros: Super light, good for casting even light lures, great sensitivity, good backbone and still light in the tip. Cons: The 2 things I don't like about the rod would be the reel seat does not tighten down very well, when you hook into a decent fish the reel seems to shift (really don't like this). And the eyes aren't the best. The carbonlite rod feels good with the BPS Pro Qualifier reel as well. That combo is usually under $215 as also. I used 5 pro qualifiers reels this season in brackish river water and had no problems at all with them (just rinse lightly when done with fresh water). They cast just as well as my Abu Garcia STX. Besides the "cons" for under $200 this has really been a favorite of mine to buy I have a few of them.
