  1. Happy Thanksgiving.

The recent terrorist attacks have caused gun sales to go through the roof. My guess is the system is a little overwhelmed. That is a great price for that weapon. Good luck.
  3. If flipping is your goal, a longer rod is often better to reach hard to get to spots. Some folks use the terms pitching and flipping interchangeably, although they are not the same technique. I like a little shorter (I use 7'3") for pitching. I don't do enough flipping to justify another rod and get by OK with my pitching rod.
  4. I have caught a few in the 8-10# range and they are beasts. I have never caught anything that pulls harder pound for pound. Great job! I hope they last another year so you have a shot at a record fish.
  5. You're absolutely right. Simple platitudes explaining mental illness are offensive, and just wrong on so many levels. Like A-Jay I'm done here.
  6. Your intent was honorable. As mentioned it is a very emotional and painful topic for many of us. Peace.
  7. Yes if it were easy to prevent there would be far less of us losing loved ones. It is offensive to suggest otherwise.
  8. These threads are sometimes funny, but serve no real purpose. There are are hundreds of threads/articles talking about each and dozens comparing the two. They often end badly. The only thing that can be learned by them is some folks think the reels they own are the best and nothing else measures up.
  9. I can't answer your question. How steep is the ramp? I will say that there are things that can be done that should not be.
  10. Thanks for the post Jeff. Dwight has long been one of the guys on this forum who always has something of value to say. I will keep him and his family in my prayers. Kirby
  11. Sam I would rent or find a friend who has a Ruger LCP. I don't own the LCR, but have shot one several times. It would not work for me. The .380 is much easier to conceal and is a nice shooting little pistol. My EDC is an SR9c that works well most of the time. The LCP is perfect when clothing won't allow for a bigger weapon. Good luck.
  12. Falling water levels is often a negative in my experience.
  13. There are times when there isn't anything you can do to catch bass that are not interested in my experience. Sometimes a fast moving reaction bait will work; sometimes a finesse bait will work; sometimes finding other fish is the best answer IMO.
  14. I am more comfortable on a lake, because that is where I have far more experience. I like river fishing, but it is far more challenging to me.
  15. Both are served at my house. I would rather have enchiladas than dry turkey or fatty, gristley ham though. In fact I would rather have tofu. This is not a spot to go cheap or take shortcuts.
  16. You may be right. Even with a perfect cast, a squarebill is often deep in the woods! Having spent a lot of time night fishing I agree with Tom and A-Jay. There are times when the lost bait is easier to accept than the professional overrun that goes with it.
  17. I like it. Even that 9mm carbine is a decent prize. Much more useful than the usual nonsense. I hope it is very successful.
  18. Sam's post should be made a sticky. Pitching into heavy cover in muddy water can be work. Be very deliberate and careful. You may get your arm broken! I have caught good fish on heavy jigs, light jigs, and t-rigged plastics-usally creature baits like a baby brushhog or its bigger brother. Beaver baits can be effective too. Any color as long as it is dark with or without a splash of color. The key is getting the bait on the nose of the fish. A spark plug might work if you put it in the right spot!
  19. There are some who like a heavier power and a slower action for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. I have tried that but prefer a faster action. I occasionally use a 6' 8" M- XF for lighter blade baits with good success. I think it is really a matter of personal choice.
  20. It would be easier to just comply with the rules. This company has violated those rules to promote their products and Glenn has rightly prohibited discussion of any rods by this company. If you can't respect the rules then I would suggest going elsewhere. For the OP I use a 7' MH-F for spinnerbaits most of the time.

Slone you make a good point. I am afraid that exterminating all the stinging insects associated with this is a complex problem that can't be accomplished by the destruction of one nest. I do know that a nest without a queen (or queens) cannot survive. There are no simple or easy answers. My prayers are with all associated with this, including our military personnel.
  22. I completely agree Mike. I have a couple of the older Extremes. They still get used occasionally, but compared to the PQs they are nowhere close to the same quality.
  23. Tom there are now many great rods in the $100-150 range. Unfortunately there is no one rod that is perfect for everything. A 6-6 to 7' MH-F is maybe the most versatile bass fishing rod, but that will limit techniques at both ends of the weights commonly used and is not well suited to most treble hook baits. Good luck.

Clayton France has let in far fewer refugees than most of Europe. I am not sure any free nation can completely stop this sort of thing. It looks like ISIS is responsible. I hope this is the final straw to bring the world together to crush this group. Eliminating the leadership with extreme prejudice by going after them aggressively regardless of where they are is where we start IMO.
