  1. You're a absolutely right! Darned kids. STAY OFF MY LAWN!
  2. K_Mac replied to jtharris3's topic in Fishing Reports
Force of habit im guessing fly!
  3. All the fancy gadgets and gear make fishing more fun, but without knowledge and skill it is of little value in my opinion. I agree fishing public water that is heavily pressured generally requires greater skills. Of course plenty of video and good editing can even make guys like me and Slone look good!
  4. Slone the older I get the more boring and uneventful a appeals to me! Generally speaking, eventful costs me money...
  5. YOLOF, I think you have your answer! There are many fishermen who will insist that size fish is 7 or 8 pounds. Don't be that guy. It's a nice bass in most waters. Buy a decent scale and it won't take long and you will know within a few ounces what a fish weighs, before you weigh it. I will warn you that it will sting a bit when those 8 pounders only weigh 5, and some of your friends will not be happy with you. It will ultimately make you a better fisherman. Good luck. This is another very popular approach. I've used it myself...
  6. Sorry for your loss WW.
  7. That's the reason why spending the extra upfront is worth the cost if you are going use them for many years. Buying quality once is cheaper in the long-run.
  8. The reasons Rio or any other city is selected are always the same, i.e. politics and money. I think it is unfortunate that many athletes won't be there, yet I don't blame them. The city is unsafe in many ways. Maybe a lesson will be learned, but I doubt it. It won't be the first Olympics where the cameras show just what they want the world to see.
  9. I told every guy that showed up to take my daughter out that I wanted them to know up front that I was holding him accountable for everything that happened to her while she was with him. One of them reported to his mother, who I knew well, that he didn't think I liked him because of this. I assured her whether I liked him or not had nothing to do with it.
  10. Congratulations fly! Glad all is well. Enjoy the moment. They grow up quickly.
  11. C&G most of us have done that or worse a time or two. I still have scarring on my ankles from a float trip 40 years ago. A friend burnt the top of her...er...bossom one time on another trip so badly she had to be treated at the hosipital. Once, or even if you're as dumb as I am, twice is usually enough to teach you not to do it again. As mentioned , staying covered is the best option to stay safe. Good luck.
  12. This is generally true. Slonezp's numbers seem to show this may not be universally true...
  13. It helps if you are bright, witty, charming, and have something worthwhile to say. I have a few likes so that is not always required.
  14. Blue generally speaking, I like cops. I know a couple well and have great respect for the work they do, and their ability to conduct themselves professionally in situations where most of us would not. The danger of dealing with criminals/idiots on a daily basis is getting jaded and cynical. This does not happen to all, but is too common in some jurisdictions.
  15. Have you seen the video where a hawk attempts to take an eaglet from its nest? One of the parents landed on the hawk quick as a bullet, and calmly started feeding the babies hawk tartare. Messing with an apex predator is a risky business. Slone, gulls are nasty little creatures . I hope the eagle had a couple to replace the lost fish.
  16. Had I said one more word to the ornery little St Louis city cop with a bad case of little man syndrome, I would have been spending time in the cities version of 'the box'.
  17. Congratulations!
  18. "Well that's just it... The bride is one of my oldest friends. She's like a sister to me. I'd throw somebody off a bridge for her, so it feels disingenuous to say no to running around and spending some cash. It's just never ending! I have always been the "no thanks" guy but I was genuinely excited for her. Now I'm just burnt out!" MB, while it may not be as heroic as throwing someone off a bridge or taking a bullet, putting her happiness ahead of yours in this situation is what a friend does . Old, dear friends are worth much...

Be grateful for the 5 years. Good luck to you and your mother.
  20. Definitely a black mamba. I saw one the other day at the zoo with my grandson. They are so deadly just a hard look can kill you!

A-JAY, I speak a little Hootie. I think it was taught in school back in the day. They don't even teach kids how to write anymore... I am a Kenny Rogers fan, but his decision to have a little work done to try to turn back the clock was not a good one. He would have been better going the makeup route like Ruby!
  22. Nice. It is always fun when a plan comes together. That is a great day!
  23. Yep. Not bad for a budget reel?
  24. Congratulations my friend! A long list of high quality components. Well done. What trolling motor did you go with? You are going to love the Talons. Having breaks on a bass boat is a game changer. You will find yourself correcting for wind and current out of habit for a minute. Then you will wonder how you got by without them. Enjoy!

Well, there's always next year... Is this what it feels like to be a Cubs fan?
