  1. Hello I noticed your post about testing knot strength. I have seen the Knot Wars episodes and it looks as if they are using a servo motor turning a cam or moment arm and recording the torque required to break the knot. Servo motors can be used in conjunction with a gearbox inexpensively. The current of the motor relates directly to the torque required to break the knot. Also servos are very repeatable. This is an example of a linear servo actuator and controller that can be purchased very inexpensively Hope this helps Mike

  5. Hello I am more of a lurker than a contributor. But I have reached out to several members asking for help with casting jigs and the jig technique. Even down to pointing your rod at the fish reeling up slack and setting the hook have all come into play. Well, I have been throwing a 1/2 oz black and black/blue jig I live in Michigan and only recently have I been on the water But I must admit, the advice I have received here is the best, as well as the folks here have been very open and kind. Thank you all very much for helping me. Caught this 5LB'er today
  6. Thanks Picked up 4 of the o-rings for the lower unit gear oil I will re-check the oil and replace the gaskets with new ones. I spoke to a dealer they are already swamped They said what I experienced is quite common, they suggested to replace oil and o-rings run it and re-check for water. If water is present I will need a pressure check, and seal kit replacement around 250.00 I will keep an eye on the oil and update this post Thanks Mike
  7. Hello All I just bought a used boat To my concern when I chacked the lower unit oil water came out (yikes) I noticed a torn washer on the lower plug Ran up to Gander mountain bought Oil and found a gasket for the lower fill plug Placed the muffs on the motor and she started up I see no cracks in the lower unit However when the motor runs awhile water starts spilling out from the top of the pivot for the motor Is this normal or do I have a bad seal? Serial Number 0B269125 Thanks Mike
  8. Hello I have one and really like it. I do not know what you mean by skip pitching I flip Plastics with it in lilley pads. Great drag Simple Design once you use it a bit you will develop a rhythm and it will come natural for you. I am selling mine but only because I have moved to a no motor lake and am doing more drop shot than pitch and flip. good luck m
  9. Hello Everybody I am not much for posting, mostly read the posts here. But I felt compelled to share with you my experience with the Strike King Hack Attack Jig. Well I picked up a 1/2 oz Black and Blue and paired it with a Rage Craw Just like Mr. Hackney suggests. Nice Skirt, Big-Sharp Hook, nice barb on hook to hold plastic. Out on the water jig falls just as advertised, straight down and did well working through weedy areas. I am most impressed with the sharpness and sturdiness of the hook. Just like Mr. Hackney states, "Hook will not flex, cleanly punctures fishes mouth." All of my 5 bites were so soft I did not feel them to set the hook. I only felt the rod load up when retrieving so I reel set all 5, and did not loose 1 fish! Each fish was securely hooked, I could not believe what little pressure was needed. After returning fish to the lake I inspected the head paint held up well. I fish a weedy lake and most jig head types are not suited for grass and muck but the Hack Attack jig is. Initially I felt at 4.29 each was a bit pricey, but after trying them they are worth every penny. Thanks Strike King/Mr. Hackney!
