  1. My buddy had one and recently sold it to switch to the radar 115 but he loved the slayer. As far as fish finders go he had his mounted on the drive unit itself. Transducer on the drive wires neatly wrapped up it and then a ram ball on top that he had the unit on. Battery he kept in the front hatch.
  2. On honeoye I launch at the state launch on the south end and usually paddle to the middle of the lake on the West Bank. I've had my best luck there on that point and working back south on the West Bank as well. We had a tournament there this year for NYKBF and I took 3rd working swim jigs around the docks. A few guys got some real nice ones south in the swamp though. Hemlock and canadice i haven't been to in a few years we had a tournament on both but I skipped them. Guys that finished well we're all drop shotting and flipping weed edges. I might have some way points still saved on my FF for honeoye to point you in the right direction also I'll have to put the card in my laptop and see what I got.
  3. It's on ky lake I think if memory suits me right on the border of Tn and Ky. I'm not from the area do not much help sorry.
  4. I fished Cyprus bay during the KBF national championship that was in March though.
  5. Most state parks in NY won't allow any guns. State land for hunting yes obviously but a state park all the ones here say no firearms or weapons allowed. Those asking about owning a pistol on your property here in NY that's a big nope. Most places won't even sell you ammo in pistol calibers without a permit. My exs Dad had that issue trying to buy 357 ammo for lever gun he bought. Couldn't buy ammo at the local shops because he didn't have a pistol permit even though he needed it for a long gun.
  6. Anyone been to cayuga lately? I've got a the NYKBF state championship there this weekend. Done some research and asked around already and have a fairly solid game plan but seeing if anyone else has any input on the lake recently.
  7. I just started Jim Roots book "smallmouth bass fishing for everyone" today. So far it's pretty good and in depth for what I was able to read this morning.
  8. Are you mostly throwing jointed swim baits with trebles or do you throw big jig hooked ones like hudds. I'm gonna build a swim bait rod over the winter I've got a combination of s wavers, rats, 6 and 8" hudds, bull shads. I've got the baits but no rod to really throw them effectively
  9. I'm more anxious for ducks and predators then I am deer. Got a new coyote gun this year and a new boat for diver hunting the big lake.
  10. Siebert outdoors "swim jig" in both black and blue or bluegill flash have been absolutely killer for me this year. I put a keitech fat impact on them as a trailer and dip the front 1/3 of the trailer in pink JJs magic then thread it on. The pink shows just enough threw the skirt I think it imitates gills or red breast on some of the sunfish up here or maybe it's just in My head but I find I get better strikes with the front of the trailer dipped.
  11. After diver duck hunting out of it in January on Lake Ontario and hemlock with 45mph north winds I think I've been in some of the worst conditions a kayaker would want. Oh and on Kentucky lake when a tornado came threw last year that was fun.
  12. Ill go where ever I need for some big fish
  13. It's based out of Many, LA, with HQ at Cypress Bend Park. I believe we can launch anywhere on the lake with public access on either side Texas or Louisiana.
  14. Thanks Catt. I know it's a little ways away, kayak bass fishing is having the 100 challenge there in November for the top 100 challenge series finishers. It looks like I will be making the cut for the event as I'm in 35th of the 100 plus they are taking top finisher from each state and I'm number 1 there by a land slide for NY. Its a 22hr drive for me with a 1 in 100 chance at coming home with $10,000 so I'm looking at old reports for that time frame now and at navionics trying to plan.
  15. That area is loaded with pike. Frogs in the Lilly pads and slop will get ya some smaller pike then spinners and chatterbait or swimbait around all the laydowns.
  16. Google map search Lyndonville, New York. You will see a creek that runs right threw town. School is on the north side of the creek and a big parking lot on the other side of the creek that's the post office there's a boat launch there canoe and kayaks only. Follow the creek back and there's pike everywhere.
  17. Starting to look like I will be making a trip to Toledo bend the week of the 3rd-5th of November. What can I expect while there, any technique that shines that time of the year.
  18. Keitech is having a sale on most baits in certain colors. 50% off. Directly from www.keitechusa.com
  19. Seen in another post your from western New York. Try fishing oak orchard or johnsons creek tons of northerns in there. Looks like your in a canoe I can give ya a launch site on johnsons that will get you in for some all day pike action
  20. I'm also in WNY a lot of the weeds in the quarry's and reservoirs out in orleans county have died off significantly. Small mouth in the canal are gorging themselves on minnows ive been walking along the Erie Canal with a 2.8 keithech fat impact on a jig head crushing them like every 3rd or fourth cast. In johnsons creek and oak orchard pike also extremely active almost to the point of I'm gonna stop fishing the creeks because it's ALL I'm catching. Hulberton quarry's all the weeds have died off waters cooled from low 80s to the mid 60s in the morning and only reaching low 70s by mid day before cooling again.
  21. John were both having smallie withdrawal lets go fish the river.
  22. To many to pick just one but I could watch a hand full over and over and never get tired of it. Heat, tombstone, topgun, enemy at the gates, the lonesome dove series of that counts as a movie, 13 hours, the mechanic, white fang.
  23. Yeah I've lost a bunch of tungsten nail weights so far. I hook into the plastic some also. I just watched like every you tube video out there on the rig seems like there's a few different thoughts on hook point direction also. I've been rigging mine like Ike does in his video starting the point coming down from the top so the shank is next to the bait but then the line is in the way of the tail. Most the other videos say go the other way.
  24. I've been trying the neko rig a bit lately trying to get some pressured fish. I've been using mag trick worms and the regular sized ones. O ring and a wacky style hook both the weedless and the regular open style. Im losing tons of baits though the o ring is tight on the plastic but it is almost like they are bitting the weighted portion and my hooksets are just pulling the hook and o ring off as I usually bring the o ring up on the hook but the worm is gone. What could I be doing wrong. I've tried just lifting and reeling keeping pressure, straight up hook sets and sweeping to the side I can't seem to stick one. I've got one so far and he smacked it as soon as it hit the water so that doesn't help really.
  25. It will flex for sure. I wouldn't go a 1/4 think I was just using it as a reference. Personally I wouldn't use straight glass mat. I'd use a woven material like woven fiberglass, graphite, Kevlar, carbon fiber.
