  6. Hey guys well we had a blast! The weather was horrible but we was still able to catch some good ones! We ended up in 6th place overall for both days out of 18 boats. My son had a blast and did very good to my surprise! He even got to drive the boat around a little bit and was able to load the boat on the trailer even with all the other boats around (there was also another club there with thirty boats). I am a proud dad and may have found a new partner! I am going to post pics just bare with me I may have to post one at a time! Thanks to all who replied and to Dwight for pointing us in the right direction!
  7. Well so far we have fished two days up here and so far so good. The rain and storms have made it a little tough but we are catching some good fish! The first day we had to fish the bay because of all the lightning but my son caught some good largemouth. His first time ever drop shotting and I think he is getting the hang of it. Today we went out on the main lake a dodge all the storms! We caught some and he caught his first good lake Erie smallmouth. We then caught a few more with a few well over three pounds! We have not caught any giants yet but hopefully we saved the big ones for this weekend for our tournament! When I get home I will post pics after the whole trip!
  8. Super duty is a lews reel.
  9. Awesome! Congrats!
  10. Meet him in Pittsburgh and was one of the best!
  11. This is exactly while I was looking into the JDM for the 100 series and the access plate!
  12. When I first started fishing tournaments all I wanted to do is win! I soon realized that I was not taking the right approach. Now I enter a tournament with the mindset of slowing down and really try to figure out what the fish want and how. I try to focus on each cast and one fish at a time! So far this has not got me a win, but has consistently put towards the top! I always have a goal to win angler of the year in my club, but I focus on each fish then let the chips fall where they may! Good luck hope all of your goals are obtained!
  13. You can get the fj on eBay for 138.00 with free shipping! I went with the fj instead of the ci4 mainly because the fj has x-ship! I believe either one will be fine but it seems the fj has more advancements at this point. I hope they put x-ship in the new ci4, well see come icast!
  14. I always thought that the bigger smallies left the bay after the spawn? Thank you for the tip!
  15. Hey guys I am going to Erie at the end of the month to fish a small club tourney with my 14 year son. I have fished the lake only once last year for the weekend and did ok. I fished the cribs and the W's and caught fish but not the right size. I was wondering if anyone knew of a few spots that I could check out when we get up there? We will be prefishing for two days before so I have a little time to run around. We will mainly be using drop shot. We are going out of presque isle bay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me if you would like! Thanks again...Phil
  16. I have never tried the fat boy but it does look good! Also, I will have to look into NXS love Norman cranks!
  17. Now that is the way to start a first post! Congrats!
  18. I use to fish the poe's alot. The only problem is I have a hard time keeping those kind of cranks tuned!
  19. Two years ago I caught a nice largemouth on a shakey head with a leader and hook coming out of its "waste hole" ..lol went back one week later to the same spot with the same shakey head and caught the same bass! Thought that was pretty cool!
  20. I fish alot of cranks, but here is what I like the most! 1. Squarebill: rapala dt fat 2. Medium: bandit 200, bomber 5a or 6a 3. Medium to a little deeper: Norman deep lil n 4. 10 foot or deeper: rapala dt 10, bomber fat free 5. Deep: Norman dd22 however I rarely fish deep divers. This is some of the ones I have faith in, hope this helps!
  21. How about a bagley fat cat!
  22. I totally agree with mr. Swimjig! Mike at DVT is a great guy and knows his stuff. I am sure he would be glad to help you. He cleaned a bunch of reels for me this spring and he does top notch work!
  23. Thank you all I kinda thought that was what it stood for but did not know for sure. I saw a review on the new shimano Calcutta d on a website and they kept talking about the differences in the reel between the two.
