  1. Well I had my first one yesterday there was 29 boats with only SEVEN fish caught! 5 pounds and some change won it! Water was 34 degrees to start with some skim ice on the lake. I caught nothing fished slow and deliberate but no bites! What I did realize is if I fish when the water warms up like I did yesterday I could end up with much better results. If I learned anything from fishing in those tough conditions is if I slow down and work areas more profiecntly I may end up with the biggest sack of my life!
  2. Headed to the lake in the morning for the first tourney! Should be interesting! Very cold!
  3. Well I appreciate everyone's feedback on this site. I also respect some members opinions such as jfrancho, road warrior and others! Just because I like something does not mean they have to or vice a versa! I will continue to learn and enjoy reading from these posters along with everyone else!
  4. 3/0 worm hook but I saw vmc came out with a wacky rig hook looks good but I do not like circle hooks! I want to set the hook!
  5. Went last weekend down here and the water was cold(36). I have a tourney Saturday! One nice thing is if you catch anything this time of year it is usually better size fish!
  6. Doug, thanks for the help! Yes everyone is different and I am not trying to sell anyone on the reel I just wanted to let everyone know that I love it!
  7. I just purchased one of the new lucky strike and tried it the other day. I had to put some weight up front it would sit tail down. Have you had this problem to? Is this a good cold (35-40) water bait or should I stick to the rogues?
  8. This is how I set mine up. I had one of the two blue pins on and two of the four white ones on. The tension knob I set like any other reel which is let the bait fall smoothly to the ground, once it hits the ground the spool stops with no overrun. I was casting a dt6 with these settings with 10mph winds and just great results!
  9. I was wondering what has been the coldest water you have caught largemouth in? I went yesterday to a small lake close to home just to get the boat out and fish a little. I have a club tournament this coming Saturday and I just wanted to make sure that everything was ready to go. The water was 36 degrees and I only fished for a few hours with no luck, except for a small trout that I caught on a dt fat! The weather is going to be horrible the rest of the week so I expect to be fishing in similar water temps at this other lake. I know I am going to throw shad raps, finesse jigs, crankbaits and jerkbaits. Any help in catching these cold water bass would be greatly apreciated! Also, the one thing I did notice yesterday was I could not mark a fish! This lake is not very big only about 84 acres and I covered a great deal of it looking for fish and or bait with no success! Where did they go?
  10. Well I got out yesterday for the first time on the boat this year and got to use my new bb1. This reel is amazing! I was casting a dt6 further than I have ever done before. The reel was easy to dial in(with help of another member on here) and was as smooth as butter! I have owned some good reels but this is ridiculous how far you can throw a crankbait! This one piece of equipment is going to change my overall catch ratio this season!
  11. Find a dock, skip a green pumpkin or watermelon colored senko under the dock either wacky rigged or Texas rigged no weight let sink to bottom. Lift rod up twitch it a little let it sink back down. If this does not catch anything then just forget about them and use what you have confidence in!
  12. Awesome! Just a beautiful fish!
  13. Congrats! That's a beauty!
  14. Hang in there it just takes time. Hope the next one will be better for you!
  15. Awesome! Sounds like you had a blast.
  16. I just had a friend give me one of these and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? I know it is not a reall expensive reel but for free I will take it every time! It looks like it would be good for a back up flipping reel since it has a flipping switch. Just wondering if anyone knows the gear ratio? Thanks
  17. I have no idea but I would love to see some pics of the tank that is awesome!
  18. I love the baby rage craws but for a small jig like that I have used a small craw that they sell a Walmart. I can't remember the name I think it is arkie or something like that. I really love them on small jigs. They are alot smaller and seem to fit the jig better. Also Yamamoto made a small craw that is awesome! I don't know if they still make them. You still can't go wrong with the baby rage craw though!
  19. Junk fisherman! I can throw a shakey head and drop shot all day or burn spinnerbaits through grass, but my favorite is shallow to medium cranking. I love bouncing a squarebill off a stump and a big ole pig loading up on it!
  20. The big ones are fun! I hope to fish a everstart event next year!
  21. I use them on a shakey head with good success! Green pumpkin has worked for me in the past. Good deal!
  22. Nice congrats! If you get to go with A-jay and Dwight to Erie don't forget to stop and pick me up!!
  23. Awesome! Did you learn anything that you could share with us?
