  1. Irod Air 754. Perfect frog rod IMO.
  2. ^This^ Unless you are the unluckiest person in the world and got to defective reels by 2 top manufacturers.
  3. Irod Gabe's RipRap Special Irod Fred's Crank Launcher Jr. Both are Genesis 2 models.
  4. None. You will have plenty of power to pull "Big Mama" out! The rod has a ton of backbone. I fish heavy mats and sometimes bring in 2 lbs of grass with 3 to 5lbers.
  5. IROD any series Fred's Magic Stick. If you like a shorter rod go with the 704. I myself was using the Genesis 2 754 and thought that was "the rod" until I bought the Air 754. You don't need to spend that much if you don't want. The Fiber and the G2 are the same blank but differ in components. My experience is that the tiny extra weight of the guides makes the Fiber feel like it has a softer tip than the G2. Sounds wierd, but the G2 seems faster and more stout, but it isn't and you feel it when you set the hook they are the same rod.
  6. With all the techniques out there I was thinking about my style of fishing and tried to put it in a box. Thinking of my own style or when I am successful on the water I have come to the conclusion that when I do well in a tournament or fun fishing is when I am able to frog, punch, big wormin', or pitch t-rigs. I have in my arsenal 2 crankbait rods, a chatterbait rod, 2 rods that I usually have topwater, spinnerbaits, or buzzbaits, a 2 jig rods, and 2 finesse sticks. Now on occasion I have had really successful days with other baits and also days where it took a variety of baits to be successful. This made me curious as to what you guys/gals would prefer is to be a jack of all trades or really good at just a few. Also, when out on the water, what do you tend to reach for? 24 rods on the deck and how many actually get used out of your arsenal? Do you actually fish a bunch of different techniques or do you tend to grab the same rod (technique) over and over? I read often or see on video/audio that when the pros are asked a question that they always respond with there is a time and a place for everything and they beat around the bush or give a long winded non-answer.
  7. This. It's all in the components. I wouldn't be afraid to pick up the Fiber if it is more in your price range.
  8. They are all good. I would go with Fred's Magic Stick by iRod.
  9. If you do end up looking at new rods. Look at IRG7104AB “Bama Rig Special” This is not another swimbait rod. we needed a rod that would be perfect to throw all variations of the umbrella rig. It will throw a three arm bait with 1/8 heads all the way up to a five arm bait rigged with 1/2 oz heads as far as you want. Its responsive tip allows for smooth hook ups and has plenty of backbone to land multiple fish at once. Length:7’10″ Lure weight:1-4oz Line weight:50-70 braid Power: Med. Heavy Action: Moderate
  10. Sorry about your luck. I use to use a Zillion 7.3 now i use a Tat Type R 8.1. No issues other than I hate the knobs
  11. This IRG713S “Fred’s Power Finesse Rod H” This is the perfect compliment to the 712S. Its a perfect rod for fishing senkos, jigs, tubes and skipping docks. Length:7’1″ Lure weight:3/16-7/16 Line weight:8-16 Power Med. Heavy Action: Fast
  12. 60lb FX2. Wouldn't change it. Never had an issues be it casting distance or break-offs. Hauled in bunchesbof 3 to 6lb largemouth through thick slop
  13. As long as Cabela's are Daiwas, they will be my vote.
  14. I somewhat agree with you. The Steez is a 1/2 oz and under reel IMO and experience. I also think i read that somewhere from Daiwa Japan. Whether I'm right or wrong doesn't matter. The SV 105 clearly states line capacity on it so the user knows what they are getting. That's a bomb cast you got. Pushing 65 to 75 yards
  15. There are no line capacity issues with SV spools. That is one of the most useless features for non-bfs to take into consideration when choosing a reels. Think of what your using it for and how far YOU CAN ACTUALLY CAST. SV reels are awesome. Get a Tatula SV in 6.3 or 7.3 and don't look back.
  16. Daiwa PXL for close quarters because of line capacity unless you are using steel/ titanium leaders then they all will work
  17. Tat CT or Fuego CT in 7.3 or 8.1. A little heavier, but solid reels nonetheless.
  18. Anyone make their own vibrating jigs and get a cease and desist letter? I read about it on another forum. How do other companies make vibe jigs? Do they pay chatterbait a portion of their sales?
  19. Spros are awesome! No issues hooking up, keeping them buttoned, very durable. 50+ fish durable. Multiple times.
  20. I have no issues hooking up with Spros. I don't fish any other brands. I do want to try the new Fred Roumbanis and Ish Monroe frogs. My father in law swears by Kopper's Live Targets.
  21. The LT series is sweet. I only own the Tatula's, but have felt the Fuegos in store. I don't think you can go wrong with any Daiwa or Shimano over $40 right now. they are making some good product
  22. Worms or all plastics up to 7"? Have you looked at the new McClelland hybrid from Gamakatsu?
  23. Winner winner chicken dinner! Was trying not to push a new rod on tge OP. Glad someone else beat me to it. @ OP - go with your gut. If you frog a lot and heavier cover, you will want the rod that feels the best in your hands. I myself would go with the heavy, but I don't fish Abu rods. Others have stated that the MH fishes like a H. If thats true, then is it an 80/20 bend? If so, i would go with it. You want to have confidence that it can turn the fish and keep her from burying you during the fight. Frogging is not a any rod any price technique unless you hate it or dont like doing it. Finding 1 or 2 folks that believe that is anecdotal at best. That being said you don't need a Megabass Power Versatile either. $100 to 300 will get you a bad a $$ stick. Good luck
