  1. It could have been redheads It could have been Blondes It could have been Lear Jets It could have been Lotus Fish just like ME! Of all the Lucky Things. Garnet
  2. My Minn Kotas came with a cheap tin groument going thru the bracket. Had it replaced with a much nicer nut with a hole thru it. Came from the Minn kota repair guy. Garnet
  3. The French River goes from Nippissing (North Bay) to Georgain Bay most very protected some very remote. Lots of every species. Garnet
  4. Get a 3 ring binder and paper hole punch. Remove plastic outer and punch away. Garnet
  5. With the Min kota you can take the screws out of the head and you will see the cables going to a pulley. Use electric tape or ty wrap to hold cables on pulley, back off cable tension on foot petal so you can remove pulley. Now you can postion the foot petal anywhere and turn your motor to any location and slid pulley back on gear. The cable tension is best done on the water so tighten until close then do final adjust. I'm sure the Moto guide can adjusted the same way. Garnet
  6. The rattle back is terrible in grass buy hoppy'sbrush bug. Garnet
  7. Rattle Back triple is made for wood. Garnet
  8. Biker I would never use anything but strait Power Pro in florida. Any lake I've fished in Florida your line is allways weeds some how some way. Most guys I've fished with in Florida are super trig guys and a pitching jig should be just a little better hook up ratio. Stick with a grass jig the one I use is Hoppy's Brush Bug it's cheap and is the best I've found. Scott Martin promotes one and it's pricey. Garnet
  9. Go with the bobberstops with a glass bead below and brass bead above. You can have no rattle, some rattle or max rattle by loosing your bobberstop andmuch more with this settup. Garnet
  10. I never really seen any differents in bites with jigs and trig. If you kept your wieghts the same a t rig and a jig are the same. If you fish anchored on structure with a 3/8 jig and I fish 3/8 trig all the bites that Catt describe are in play. And it really doesn't matter if it's big fish bites little fish bites or just fish. Now if the structure has no weeds I would be fishing a jig unless the fish told me they wanted a trig senko. I might fish the senko on jig because of little better hookup ratio. Garnet
  11. Theres 1 quality issue with all braids. When run the line threw your fingers and feel little hard spots, on close inspection you will see the stains fuzed together thats a quality issue. Send back to the company with a nice letter and you might be surprised. If this is not whats happening then you switching braids will cost you money. My young buck nefew (15) believes you never need to retie braid young and dum. You should make sure you didn't get the fake Prower Pro, check there website for info. Garnet
  12. Now this was so long the game was on 5.5" floppys, I played the game all winter and in my first tourney was thinking "in the game I would ................" What I did was throw the game out when I got home and never looked back. Garnet
  13. I use 2 part 5 minute epoxy. Keep the bubbles out when mixing and make good flat contact with floor. Garnet
  14. Looks to me like a good piece of pipe a good hammer and a good wack, or gaint channel lock pliers and apply force. Theres really not much to hurt so get after it. I've left the old and put the new in and also removed them. When installing get the area really clean. Acid tone is a fibre glass cleaner I've used. Then make a little dam with kids silly puddy or Goob is a marine product just make a little circle to keep your glue in the area for drying. Construction chaulking glue would work just make a large bead in a circle. And have a plan to hold the transducer down when drying I've used large stone, huk of lead from duck decoys what ever works. Factory install are mostly in good areas, but if the old xducer didn't function well nows the time to move it. Can't see were the old cable goes but cut the old cable at the xducer and tape to new cable and pull up to unit. Garnet
  15. What ever the bass will bite. It's your job to work threw different colors until you get bit. Knowing the baitfish might help a bit black and ........will work almost anywhere. Garnet
  16. When these hook companys call me to design a great hook the cutting point will get a look. On the hookset and a bass opens it's mouth and shakes it head I think that moves the skin to allows hooking. There was a comment on how much pressure a bass can but on a bait and I'm sure it's more than 3-4 lbs. In tournament practice I've lots of times tryed to get a bait out of bass mouth and if they decide it's staying in there mouth it's staying. Garnet
  17. I also bought S Glass Lamiglass cranking rod. (s Glass is 1 up from glass) and 3:8-1 Curados. The s glass is just dead in your hand all that ahhh is dead. I do believe you can catch more fish with glass it's just no fun. The 3:8-1 Curados are good for top water poppers. Garnet
  18. Exploring is fun put you can't fish when playing with your camera. Run your fishfinder and your camera at the same time and compare. Mine is 7 or 8 years old and I don't use it much anymore put willnot sell it. Garnet
  19. Mines hydro static and needs water pressure. Have been in driving rain it didn't inflate. Very easy to fish with. Garnet
  20. You really need to hold a bait and feel a hookset. You only think that driving the hook home is possible. The angler is putting out max force and getting 3lbs thats awfull. And then possible weeds, brush long cast to take away from that 3lbs. When I read this artcle it's clear to me that all mechanicail advantages must be on my side. Good rod postion, good balance, right line and most important good hooks. Garnet
  21. My memory is vague but 3 lbs still is in my mined so we will go with 4-8 still for all the best rods, reels, and pro hooksetters those # are pretty bad. Back when this article was new I worked on salmon charter boat (part time). One of the other captains was standing beside his boat on the trailer explaining to clients drag set and hooking ect. Buddys loading the rod and unloading with a salmon spoon and trebles, after this expert commetary he reaches up to lets go of the spoon and get 2 hooks in his hand. The point as soon as buddy let go he was hooked. By making your trig function like a jig your hook % will go up. Garnet
  22. The straight hook that I used was a Stanley and was in the straight hook camp for years "decades". Then trig tubes got into the game some guy won a classic and there hook % is terrible. The whole point is no angler can generate enough power to stick a bass. You need the bass to open it's mouth with the point against flesh and shake it's head. Most of the straight shank guys will rememder In Fisherman article going into power generated by hookset it's like 3 lbs pressure. Bassically fishing rods are made to strain our arms, elbows, shoulders. So if you want to up your hook % on tubes, large worms and flukes try the Daichi copperhead hook. This hook could be improved and it's better than straight shank. If theres a hook company that wants best is class they can contact me for a fee I will help them. Garnet
  23. Just get a hold of a bait and have somebody pull with any fishing rod. You will fine how very little stength it takes to hold. Now get that rod in your hand and see how hard you are pulling and how little strength buddy is holding on. Now you can stand on chair or on a bridge you can pull left ,right underhanded it cann be a $500 rod or $50 rod. Don't try to open your hand you will be hooked. Garnet
  24. The angle really doesn't matter if you hold the bait tight nobody can get the hooks into you. If you open your had you will be hooked. You can hold a hook between 2 fingers and buddy will not get it away from you. Garnet
  25. My Fishing Season. Jan. ice fish walleye and some lake trout/white fish. On Warmer days I Steelhead Northshore of Lake Ont.
