I've never used a Powell rod, but I can say the st croix LT's are very proven. Far as 'technique' branding goes, it's more of a marketing ploy and doesn't mean you need one for every lure. That's a lot of MH setups, really depending on what/how/where you fish to give you good opinions but one I can say is where's the moderate action for the cranks? You have lipless and depths so I would suggest a good all around crankbait rod.

There comes a point when you knit pick about killing a fish and looking at it with a humane prospective, you shouldn't be killing it then.
