Avid, i have had what i think are the same insects. Sorry i cant tell you what they are. But i do know we used to get a BUNCH, i mean a BUNCH...before i removed the evergreen bush/shrubs. And these bushes were in the front yard! If you have any type of bushes or shrubs on your proprty go run your hands through the tops of them and see if they start flying out. If you see them either go get pro advice on killing them or remove the bush/shrub. My wife didnt like the bushes anyway so i only had one choice, removal. Good luck. (i still get a few every once in a while, and only in the summer months) I live in Central Florida.
  3. i need to replace one of my thru-hulls (live well drain). What's the easiest way to get an old one out and would you use 5200 to cement the new one in?
  4. i was told the website and the folks you call will not have that info until a certain time before the date of expected fullfillment. In other words, when you applied for one and was the given a stated date of getting it....your info will not be available online or to operators till something like 10 days prior. I guess this keeps everyone from calling over and over again, a few weeks after applying.
  5. They'll let you travel to the Bahamas, Canada and maybe some other places without one for now (because of the backlog). But you have to show them a receipt for the renewal or purchase of a passport and a driver's lic. My wife and kids almost missed their trip and was going this route, till the passports showed up the day before departure. good luck.
  6. Work for Dow Jones (WSJ and now Barron's Magazine) but who knows who i will work for this time next year. Probably NewsCorp if Murdoch has his way.
  7. VERY toothy. After losing 3-4 bass a foot away from the boat i told my friend that the next fish was not going to get away. When we hooked into another i practically dove in, well not quite, but i made sure to lip this one. It was a mudfish and he hooked onto me like a steel bear trap and wouldnt let go. it took several minutes to pry his mouth open with pliers. i bled like a stuck pig.
  8. yes please Jimmy B.
  9. Garmin. I have an older 60CS but the new ones have a better sat lock and quicker aquisition. Garmin has models in that range but if you spend a little more you could get the 60CSX. Do you want door to door routing? if so you would need additional mapping software, about $100-15 on line. if you just want area to area then the base map would be fine. whatever you buy get one with expandable memory and as others mentioned color is really nice. I've had both and color is almost a necc if my opion.
  10. Now that is impressive. Any of you married guys have some pointers for me (on marriage or of the Lucky Craft variety), I am more than willing to accept LOL here is another. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission.
  11. as hookem stated, they're almost all free. browse, listen to a few, if you like subscribe and if they dont turn out to be any good unsubscribe. i have just one, but it's business oriented.
  12. what does it mean to me...? it means we dump several planned stories for this week's pub and start over, writing new stories about Wednesday's market moves. ;D I work for Barron's Magazine.
  13. I have a 2nd generation iPod and it still holds a complete charge. I have dropped it a few times and it still is ticking. I have 3 shuffles as well. Two 1st generation and 1 of the new clip on ones (for the family). They all have worked great. If you are planning on extended continuous movement (like running) while using one i would suggest a Nano or Shuffle. They have flash drives that will never skip. Zune as well as the larger capacity iPods have spinning hardrives. My old one will go about 20 minutes of running before it locks up. Thats about the extent of the amount of music cached before it starts accessing music from the spinning drive. As far as music from iTunes working on one device and not another...This is all due to the Digital Rights "software" wrapped around a song bought from iTunes. This software is what limits you to play a song on only 5 machines, but limitless iPods. Steve Jobs recently wrote an open letter to the recording companies asking them to drop the digital rights stuff and let anyone play anything bought from anywhere on any device. It wouldnt surprise me if this becomes reality. I say this cause where you buy music may not matter soon. Zune is nice as far as I can tell, but I'm like 75% of the world that agrees iPods are simpler, just as cheap and was the first (and other than Zunes weak music store) to integrate a device to desktop software to an on-line store. One last thing. All the current (and several older models) iPods play video. The Nano and Shuffles do not.
  14. neither, but if forced..Sophia Real or Fake?
  15. Guys, you have to see the video and read the story of Jacqui Saburido video: http://www.texasdwi.org/jacqui.html I couldnt find the story as it was reported by the EMS folks, but it was awful. She was basically burning to death in front of EMS. Their account of hearing her scream while pinned in the car is chilling. they thought she died once the screaming stopped, but once the fire was out and they started removing the victims they noticed she was still alive. This gives me chills everytime i read or think about this.
  16. The local sports talk station in Dallas is stating Wade Phillips is the new head coach. Jerry is announcing officially at 5pm CDT.

these guys are right. Enjoy the time. I swear i would go back in a heart beat. so much fun with no real responsibility. it took me 5.5 years with the last summer taking 18 hrs of foreign language, all in 11 weeks (mini-intesive they call it). I would start with 15hrs per but usually dropped to 12. but i was busy running cross country and track. things you'll say years from now... i wish i was back in college my kids grew up before i knew it (although mine are only 8 and 4 i still feel this way)
  18. As a Cowboy fan I'm not complaining about the titles. I think had Jerry stayed out of Jim Johnson's business a little less we might have won four in a row instead of 3 out of 5. Jerry has a right to be concerned with the operations. he paid lots of money. I just think he thinks he's a coach too. the fact that he commenting back when he fired JJ that "i could get 500 coaches (or whatever the # was) and coach this team to a SB" speaks volumes of his inabilty to respect a coach's skills. With that said i dont see Parcells as the guru that others do. every team he picked up was sorry. real sorry. so making them better was a whole lot easier than getting worse. I'm right there with you about the 5 titles. until last year we could boast about just us and the 49'ers
  19. I'm glad to see him leave. He might be an excellent x and o type coach but everytime i hear him speak he makes most feel like the sky is falling. Talk about a "glass is half empty" type guy! Parcells is good buddies with Bobby Knight. That should tell you something or two about his personality. TO is and will always be a distraction. To think us Cowboy fans used to think Keyshawn was a problem! I long for those days now. The good news is we have a good team. Bad news is it is owned by Jerry Jones.
  20. AHEM........9 of 12 schools going to bowls this year....not too shabby......no doubt OSU is favored and should be but when it comes to depth of quality teams its tough to beat the SEC.....Just a humble opinion from The Big Orange Nation.....GO VOLS!!!!!!!! my point exactly. there are lots of teams from the SEC playing in bowls, but i believe it's because everyone is in love with the conference. someone mentioned this in another college FB thread and i believe its true...the sec teams never schedule anyone outside their conference worth a flip, no one, except for Arkansas. They did play USC early in the year, and they got beat huge. No doubt the conference is good, it's prob the best conference when you average the teams, but it doesnt necc mean they are the best teams, just best average overall. I might be way off, but i think the sec gets major media favor every year. thats just my opinion. guess we'll see the next 3 weeks.
  21. so the same voters that said all year long (practically) that Mich was number 2 team in the country, the same voters that said they were number 2 even after losing to OSU, just decided that after being idle for two weeks that they really werent number 2? If USC had beat UCLA would Florida have jumped Michigan? I highly doubt it. So as the rankings were set before Florida won the SEC champ i believe Michigan should be in the NC game. Do i believe Mich should have stayed #2 after losing? no. but they did stay #2 so i dont see how being idle constitutes a jump. I'm kinda glad Florida is in though, cause when OSU whips them we can all sit back and say the SEC isnt as good as the experts say they are.
  22. Interesting replies. I have another one which I'm not sure how to feel about. I pulled up to a good spot of mine (red dot on map) and was fishing for a few minutes when a ski boat pulled up and said, nicely, they were going to make a few passes at the ski buoy course(black line left of red dot). I said no problem (after all I don't own the lake). Well it turned out to be about 10-12 passes and the worst part was when they were running from the opposite end and towards me they wouldn't shut it down till they got about 20-25 yards away, then coast another 10 or so.and here come the wake. The course ended far enough back that it didnt require such a close call. The frustrating part is there are at least 3 additional ski courses on the lake, one of which was fairly close and the water was glass there as well. (yellow line on map) And the worst part was I couldn't fish the bank that runs parallel to the ski course. Their stopping point would be right on me. So I had to withstand the constant runs or move to a completely different location. Of course the bite is typically really good where I was and the shore line as well.
  23. i have 20# on right now and really dont like it. maybe a got a bad spool but i have very bad memory. but ive read here that the ultra soft version is much different and better than the original.
  24. your best is to go to a retail store and look at all models. also, keep a couple of things in mind: battery life waterproof (submersible?..does it float) does it capture all the data you want (speed, altitude) does it have an elctronic compass (you would think all do but it is not so) and this is important. when not moving a gps without one will not give you a heading. without a compass the gps will require you to be on the move and when trolling real slow or just looking around trying to zero in on a waypoint you will be "lost" how does it feel in hand and how easy it it to work with one hand...i know, this sounds goofy but believe me it does make a difference. but, most important, how well does it hold a sat signal. no mater if it can pick up 1 or 16 sats, if the chip is not very responsive your accuracy will be off. dont be fooled by the number of sats, its the acqusition and hold of that signal, along with accuracy that matters most. after all, the point of the device is to tell you where you are and how to get somewhere. the forum i mentioned above is to gps what this forum is to fishing. tell them exactly what you want to do and how much you want to spend, they'll help you
  25. Ben, like most things, the more you spend the more you get. I personally have had a Garmin Vista (b/w) and a Garmin GPSMap 60cs (still have this one). I highly reco a Garmin. The difference with a cheap one and an expensive one is the following: better reception (really important, usless without it) altimeter (really nice if you backpack as i do) color (not necc but extremely nicer with color) storage (the number of waypoints, points on a bread crumb trail, amount of additional detail map you can download) auto routing (my vista didnt have this. my 60cs does. BUT, it is just ok with the basemap hard-coded in unit. for door to door you would need additional software - $100+) The only additional software i have is the TOPO; again, used for backpacking. the topo has most of all lakes, but not detail of the lake. it does have known boat ramps, gas stations. points of interests are also part of the base map. i have used the POI while on road trips, finding the nearest subway shop, taco bell, gas station (does it have deisel or not) etc. really nice. I cant speak of other brands but i do love my garmin. they no longer make mine. it has been upgraded, using a more sensitive chip, which means quicker sat acquisition and better sat hold while under cover (trees, etc) Mine works really well but the newer version is even better (GPSMap 60csx) you can find them with rebates that would distill down to $350+ out of pocket. Try googling for discouted deals and go to http://www.geocaching.com/forums/register.aspx, register and ask away about the various units. lots of knowledge there and they have a garage sale thread too where you might find a used one a bit cheaper. if you have any other questions let me know here or PM jb oh, garmin also sales additional software called fisghing hot spots. never used it and might not be worth it. and to answer your other questions...yes. you can do all you mentioned above at home, on the water, wherever you are.
