  1. Now you have me curious. Looks like I will be making a trip up to City Hall sometime :. Did you already know about the flooded roads? New Honey Hole? I think I found a couple of flooded roads, possibly a bridge, this winter after doing some research on a lake I fish. I can't wait to get out there and check it out as I am sure you are as well.
  2. This is kind of like that golf saying .... "Drive for show, putt for dough" I personally think that a person that can go out and put fish in the boat regardless of the conditions day in and day out is pretty impressive. Although I would rather have a couple big fish than a bunch of little ones in each outing recreationally speaking. Tournament wise I would rather have a five bass limit everytime. Great question ............... Actually I don't know what I think ... ;D :-?
  3. My dad, my neighbor, and I have all had bad experiences with HBs. The main problem we've had is that when we're running over 10 mph we can't get a reading. Shouldn't be a problem for me. It will either be in my two man bass boat or my buddy's Jon boat both powered by a trolling motor.
  4. What's wrong with Humminbirds? The reason I ask is because I am looking at the 535 portable. It seems to be the best portable one out there. BTW, I have to get a portbale because this is going to be used on two differnt boats.
  5. I agree with Ken
  6. I'm kind of like Gobbledog. My dad intoduced me to fishing at a pretty early age, but I taught myself how to bass fish pretty much on my own. Then I got my dad into bass fishing.
  7. Yes it applies for online orders too. You just have to set it up.
  8. Lake Fork has Florida strain right? I think that is my only experience with the Florida strain. I noticed that when you hooked up on Fork, you had a pretty good idea about the size of the fish. Meaning you could really feel the weight of the fish. Where there are times up here and and you hook into what you think is a toad and you get it to the boat and it's a 2 lber. I caught quite a few 4 to 5 lbers at Fork so in comparison to the northern strain, same size, I think there is no doubt they fight harder. BTW I think the 4-5 lbs bass, in the waters I fish at least, are the hardest fighting pound for pound.
  9. I stand behind everything I said in that post .... It's the truth. : ;D
  10. The best time to fish is anytime you can get out there!!!!
  11. Keep me updated. I am very interested. The format is different. I like it!! I'll send you a email as well.
  12. I have had a great and one not so good customer service experiences in the last month. Both fising related. First the not so good ........... well maybe it was OK, but not as good as I would have hoped of. I don't know if any of you remember or not, but I made a post about a Team All-Star rod that's guide insert had popped out. I took everybodies advise and and called All-Star (Shakespeare) and asked them to send me the whole tip top guide and I would replace it myself instead of me paying for shipping there along with sending them a $20 check. So I called their customer service line and talked with an absolute idiot. I think he had NO idea what I was even talking about. I think is answer to every question was, "Send it in". I called for three days straight at various times of the day and got the same idiot everytime. After the 3rd time I just started hanging up. Dodgeguy I think it was told me to email them and has had ood service that way. So I did. I got a response the next day and it said my guide was in the mail. This was around Dec. 20 or so. I went out of town for Christmas and New Years and expected the guide to be there by the time I got back. Nope. I just got it late last week. Now for the GREAT. I emailed Shimano because I saw a hat on their website that I wanted, but I saw no place to order it. They emailed me back that evening and said the hat was on it's way .......... FREE. I know it's not a real big deal to some, but it's a big deal in my book. I was already very fond of Shimano products, but after this I am a Shimano customer for life. BTW LBH, I know you don't want to hear this, but you need to stock up on Strike King Series 4S crankbaits in Firetiger (13). Those big Fork bass love'em. I think all the bass my dad and I caught over 5 lbs came off this crank including the 10-8. The best part about it is we got them at Cabela's in the clearance bin for $1.19 a piece (as I recall) the night before we left.
  13. Jerry McKinnis has got to GO!!!! That guy is BORING!!!! It seems to me that he thinks very highly of himself too and I can't stand people like that. Half the time when I get up watch Bass Saturday I fall back asleep when his show is on. Look at Jimmy Houston's show. Basically the same set up. Just two guys fishing. You won't learn much from Jimmy (zero from Jerry), but you are entertained. McKinnis just does not have a TV personality IMO.
  14. They tag some crappies and walleye also I think here in the state of Kansas. If you catch one with a tag you are supposed to remove it and send it in to the Parks and Wildlife department with a detailed description of it's size, location, bait, etc. In return they will send you a t-shirt, coozy, bait, or something. There are a few however that can make you some $$$$. I think they color code the tags each year and if you catch ones with a certain color you can get upwards of $500. I wouldn't be to mad if I accidentally caught that crappie while bass fishing.
  15. I would love to see it as well. Talk about a time waster. I would sit there and watch it all day. ;D
  16. What about lake Champlain. I think it was Rick Clunn that said it was the best bass lake in the country and I think it's a favorite among the touring pros.
  17. I read this book when I fisrt started getting more serious about bass fishing. It's a great read, entertaining, and most of all informative. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0929384113/worldcat-20/102-4883867-4604942?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1
  18. Could you email me a schedule. I might be interested. Good to see you back. Where have you been? dustinjohnson22@hotmail.com Thanks
  19. Milfoil? Golden Algae?
  20. Zebra Mussels, the Largemouth Virus down in lake Fork years ago
  21. Didn't he not know his father. I could be wrong, but I thought there was a part in the book where he said his mom told him that he was better off not knowing him.
  22. I thought it was more entertaining than informative. All the tips as far as fishing goes was pretty basic stuff. Nothing you wouldn't learn from reading the beginners articles on this site. It did however show where he comes from and I can understand why he is the way he is. It also showed that big time tourney fishing is not a life for all.
  23. Thanks for the help guys. I ended up using some epoxy that my dad had left over from putting golf clubs together. It looks like in the future I will have to use the hot glue. Thanks for your help and input.
