Epoxy for replacing tip top guide
When replacing the tip top guide is there any specific type of epoxy you need to use? Can I just get any epoxy at the hardware store? Thanks

why is catching bass getting harder
Don't you think some of it might just be a true "fish" story? Kind of like the older it gets the better it was. For instance my dad has a picture of him and a bass he caught when he was a teenager. I can remember the first time he showed me the pic it was a little over 5 lbs. Now 10 year later he says "It was a hair over 7 llbs.". ;D ;D Stories grow with age. I am sure there is some truth to it though on certain lakes.

How many days?
I'd say about 75 a year.

OK, I am bummed out
I've been trying to put together a fishing log. I am trying to make it just the way I want it. The bait monkey has also been fairly busy. Some how he learned how to speak Japanese and got me a Shimano Twinpower straight from Japan. I'll admitt that I am not a real big spinning reel fan, but this thing is sweet. I've also been reading a lot of articles on this site's library.

Do you have a lucky piece of clothing ?
Just a hat that I sadly had to part ways with this winter. The band on the inside was starting to fall out.

Going to see KVD and Brent Chapman
That's not true. I have heard that Priest Holmes is an avid bass fisherman. Trent Green's wife also got him a 2 man bass boat for his B-day last year. Like he couldn't afford something a little nicer.

Going to see KVD and Brent Chapman
I wis I could have gone tonight. I would have really like to hear/see KVD. Sounds like it was great. I am kind of dissappointed if the Herm Edwards news is correct. I think Al Saunders paid his dues and even turned down head coaching jobs the past few years to hopefully one day be the Chiefs head coach.

How many fish by the conditions
As long as it's safe, I'm out there whenever I get a chance. Although I make a bigger effort to get out there when "all the planets are lined up". Especially night fishing. I am going to try my best to be out there every full moon night.

Red Lips??
Those lips are pretty, but the two fish I caught were prettier. ;D Bright Red. It really jumped out at you. I am going again this weekend. Hopefully I can catch a few and post some pics. As I recall, both the top and the bottom were red as well.

winter night fishing
I'd be more concerened about the temp above the water. I have a power plant lake here that still has temps near 60's, but no way would I sit out there with weather in the teens. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Red Lips??
You should have saw what I was wearing. I think they were impressed.

Red Lips??
I caught 2 bass this afternoon and both of them had extremely red lips. Almost looked liked they had lip stick. I believe this is a sign of what they are eating, but I am not sure what. Or are these bass trying to doll themselves up for the spawn? ;D

biggest bass youve ever caught?
<----- 10 lbs. 8 oz. Caught on March 25, 2005 at Lake Fork.

Most INFORMATIVE fishing shows?
Couldn't say it better myself. Angler on Tour is also great to see how a tourney fisherman tries to put together a pattern before a tourney.

seasons
Well you are lucky being form Texas. If you read Tom Redington's Lake Fork report he said that some bass are already starting to move into prespawn staging areas. A general rule for winter fishing is deep and slow, but that's not saying tht a shallow fish can't be caught. I also prefer big baits in the winter time. Bass are opportunist and during the winter time your really have to drop a bait in front of their face to get a bite. A big bait in my opinion will intice a strike over a smaller bait. They are almost hibernating wanting to use the least amount of energy possible. Bites in the winter are few and far between, but quality fish can be caught. I haven't got to fish the past 2 winters. It has been too cold and the lakes froze up in early December just like this year. But a few years back we had a 2 mild wintes in a row and my dad and I went fishing nearly every weekend. I actually caught my PR back then on December 31.

Color Selection
I knid of consider Junebug in the "Blue" category. That was the hot color for me two years ago and it will worl in any water color. About red, I like soft plastics with red flakes.

Color Selection
This is something that I focused on this year. I was really trying to limit the number of colors of soft plastics I carry in my ever growing tackle bag. This whole season I basically used 3 colors. Black, Blue, and dark shades of green. It really saved me some headaches while on the water and there was a lot less mess in the baot at the end of the day. I also carried a few whites for sight fishing. Jigs were bascially the same thing, but add brown in there. Then there is crankbaits .............. Still have every color under the rainbow. :

Tips for a new bass fisherman
Welcome to the forum .... and bass fishing for that matter. Your points you made above are exactly what attracts all of us to the species. To me it's just as much about the hunt as it is the catch. Have you checked out the library on this site. It is extremely extensive and you can find info on just about anything. I would start there and then ask questions on the board about specifics that you may not completely understand. Here's the beginners section with many different informative articles http://bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html Other than that it just takes time on the water and taking what you learn here and applying it. Don't be a fraid to ask questions either even if you think they might be dumb. There are a bunch of great guys on this site from all experience levels that are more than willing to help you out.

large mouth fishing in rivers
Ain't that the way it always is :

large mouth fishing in rivers
I would say anything that you would normally fish with. Find the current breaks both above and below the water and you should find some fish.

ahh when winter ends
The topwater bite doesn't pick up for me until mid to late June. Poppers have always been the most consistent for me. Buzzbaits will catch you some biggn's though.
