  1. Be careful when/if you use wool gloves that have no grip on the inside. I just about rod and reel in the lake a few weeks ago while trying to cast. : I use Golf gloves now - Weather Joys - made for golfing in the winter or the rain.
  2. check in the "Outings" section.
  3. Stratoscaster makes sense. You have a 0% chance to catch a fish that is not there no matter how good/expensive/magic your bait and gear are. Now take some string, tie it to a stick, put some cheapo bait on a hook and put it where the fish are .................... while your odds may not be that great, they are still way better than the 0% before. That being said I still think there are baits that just plain don't work and there are baits that will put fish in the boat on a pretty consistent basis on certain waters. Magic bait .......... maybe? I also still like to have fairly nice fishing gear as well. Rual is also right IMO too. Knowledge of where to and what to fish is probably the most important thing in putting fish in the boat. Rual said, "Fishing with quality gear ain't gonna blister your hands" - Well it sure has blistered my wallet. It better start getting some callouses (sp?) because I ain't stopping and it's only going to get worse once I get out of college. ;D
  4. My dog, Deuce. He never complains about how or where we are fishing. Plus I always seem to do very well when I go with him.
  5. Well I'm pumped to go fishing!!!!! Anybody else? ;D Great post!! Has anyone ever messed with C-rigging a shallow (square billed) crankbait?
  6. Try and tick them off. Run baits into them once they get used to your bait being there. It works while they are guarding beds, maybe it will work now. If they won't bite out of hunger, try to get them to bite out of anger. Good luck!!! Be sure to bring your camera. I might have to make a trip out to Cali. ;D And for sure don't bow hunt for them. Those bass are over 10 years old. Who knows how big they could get.
  7. Forgot to say that I only fish for them a handful of times a year. That combo always seems to produce though. I haven't tried dropshotting, but will for sure next year.
  8. Downsize, downsize, downsize. Small worm on a jighead.
  9. Are you absolutley 100% sure they are bass?? Last spring I was sight fishing and off in the distance I see these HUGE bass, or so I think. They look to be about 10+ lbs a piece. So I break out all of my sight fishing tricks and I get absolutely no interest what so ever. So I try to get my boat a little closer, and .................................I see they are stupid CARP. > :( : : They can look pretty similar to a huge bass under water.
  10. The two post above work and I have used them in the past. If it's below 30 though, there's almost no chance you will see me out there. BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
  11. I think Will hit it on the head there. I am pretty sure that the Bass is the most popular sport fish in the country. If all of us were fishing for for keeps, the bass populaton would quickly go down to almost nothing.
  12. Great move Glenn! I was wondering if you were going to start dishing out some of the duties. This thing has really taken off since I joined back in Jan. Now you can wet a line ever now and then ;D. IMO you picked the right guys for the job. Congrats LBH and Chris.
  13. 10 lbs. 8 oz. (in pic) caught on a Strike King Squared Billed Crankbait - Firetiger pattern.
  14. Great work LBH!!!! And again ....... Thank you soooo much Glenn!!!! Easily the best site on the entire internet. Thanks for putting it together and keeping it straight.
  15. That's where the bass are!!!! ;D I am not really sure of the reason why, I just kow that they do produce. I think it has something to do with depth changes and ambush points. Somebody I am sure will give the exact reason why.
  16. If the wind ain't blowing I'll be out there as soon as the gates open at 6:00. I'll either be in my dad's Trailblazer that you can see under the "Let's See Your Boats" under the "Bass Boating" section or in my buddy's red S-10 truck. If the wind is blowing over 10 mph though, I might have to go someplace else. That lake has no cover from the wind and my little boat gets blown around pretty good. Hopefully I'll see you out there!!
  17. Sure didn't. I am going to guess somewhere in the mid to low 60's. I accidentally stepped in the water while taking the boat out. It was a little chilly, but it wasn't imbearable.
  18. I was pitching horny toads and YUM Dingers into pockets in the grass. Then just on the outside of the visible grass line I was throwing Super Flukes and a crankbait.
  19. I went out to Kill Creek this morning and did fairly well. Caught around 10 in three hours and most of them were buried in the grass. I also caught a few on a crankbait and flukes just outside the visible grass line. Dress warm!!!!! I'm going to Gardner tomorrow and I'll be out at Kill Creek on Sunday. Tight lines!!!
  20. I also give them two "tore up" thumbs up.
  21. NOT ENOUGH!!!!, That's for sure. School really influences how much I fish. I try to load my fall semester up with tougher classes because I know in the Spring I start getting the Cabin Fever and I am out there any chance I get. Summer- 2 to 4 times a week Fall Semester of school (Aug - Dec) - Once a week maybe :-[ Spring Semester- Jan-Feb - 0 ...... way too cold for me Spring Semester - March to May- Try to keep me off the water during the spawn ;D ......... at least 6 times a week. I love sight fishing!!!!!
  22. This time of year they are starting to school and feed a schools of bait fish. This happens many times this time of year. Seems like when you hook one, the others start going crazy and want what your fish has. If you were fishing with a partner they should have cast a senko type bait behind your hook up and I can almost guarantee he would have hooked up as well.
  23. Have to agree with LBH here. My buddy has a place down at the Lake of the Ozarks and I enjoy riding a jet ski around and cruising around on my buddy's big cruiser. We as fisherman also have to be smart. You have to realize that the lakes on holiday weekends are going to be extremely crowded with lots of big boat traffic including the ever little pesky jet skiers. What I do on holiday weekends or summer weekends in general for that matter at the Lake of the Ozarks is fish from sun up to about 10:00 am. After that the lake is pretty much fair game and if you want to still fish you are just going to have to live with the traffic and big wakes. That being said .............. boaters and jet skiers still should keep their distance, especially in coves. In RW case, they deserve what they got. But I see guys fishing on main lake points on the 4th of July in the middle of the day on the Lake of the O all the time. They seem to give all the hundreds of boats that go by the evil eye. That's just ignorance. You can't tell me they didn't expect that.
  24. huskertko, I am assuming this is Kill Creek? Did they happen to be in a green two man bass boat or a converted jon boat? I have had a couple problems out there this year as well. And let me tell you, they just don't do it to shore fisherman. They do it to me in my boat as well. One time someone even crossed my line and got all tangled up. I am normally a pretty mild mannered guy and it takes a lot to get me stirred up, but this time I let them have it and explained to them fishing etiquette. Saw them out there a few more times over the summer and they kept there distance and behaved themselves . If it was a couple of younger kids in a green two man bass boat, I am just going to have to go back out there and teach them there lesson.
